- During the TRC invitational we met up with Brian and his beautiful Precision Turbo powered 3000GT VR4. A Dodge Demon(tune and upper pulley) wanted to test it out against the VR4 and was in for a rude awakening! Stay tuned for more full feature videos from our TRC invitational.

It's ridiculous how underrated the 3000gt VR4 is. Props to that guy for actually building it and showing its potential.
It's under rated because theyre a bitch to work on and a pain in the ass to fit any turbo in there that's worth a fuck. I think its safe to say there's maybe 5 properly built VR4 3k GT's in the US. Farthest I've ever seen one had twin Evo X turbos on it
They were super rare back when I used to drag race around 2003 although I don’t think anyone thought they were “underrated”. Everyone knew vr4’s were pretty badass cars and they still are imo.
I mean you can get stock housing turbos to make 700+ whp and 700+ wtq through a stock catback exhaust... just ask Ray Pampena! But you are correct, in stock form, they are a pain to work on. Vacuum delete, battery relocate, clean up unnecessary stuff in the engine bay and you can make them rather easy to work on. Just depends how 'race car' you want to go!

Apollo 99 More like heavy and slow and a bitch to work in them. My friend has a VR4 and a NA and he rarely drives the VR4 because it never wants to

Mad props to Brian in the 3000GT VR4!!! As far as I'm concerned the most iconic 90's Japanese Supercar built. (AWD, AWS, Twin Turbo, viscous coupling limited slip diff, 6 speed Getrag trans, full time ABS, cockpit adjustable suspension, cockpit adjustable exhaust, the list goes on an on). Way ahead of it's time (back then) and still kicking ass today!
It was not a supercar. It was a sports car.
Can’t forget about the auto aerodynamic that help you keep your car on the teack while driving curves fast
I had one it had power spoiler. I was like whuut. Nobody wanted to work on it. Cosmetically perfect. I sold it for about 800 with a blown top end.
3000gt sounds so good, people don’t realize they are rockets even stock

A 3,500lb Supra that's only RWD and nothing else?
Doesn't have active aero front and back, electric controlled suspension, 4 wheel steering, AWD. It has all of that and only 250lbs more than a Supra. Most of the other 90s don't come close.
The nsx is great though.
The 3000gt is better than the same year gtr. Mitsubishi also made the electronics for the gtr AWD.

MrEgopathy That Demon of yours is no joke either. Those things look and sound incredible IMO. I have a nicely modded Mitsubishi Evo VIII that turns heads because of how it looks and sounds but everytime I see and hear a Hellcat or a Demon, I freak the hell out😁 Love the way they sound man, those cars are bad ass👍

The 3000gt never got the credit it deserves I swear those cars are so underrated especially when built right they can definitely take out a few super cars
They got a lot of respect in the early import street racing days. They turned supras invisible 😂. It was just that no one wanted to work on them while people did work on supras. Car people never forgot them. They never got the aftermarket love or community and just collected dust til recently.

The Demon (that whine is delicious), ZR1 (stock and still a complete menace), and Mustang (bars and hooks...thing moves) were fantastic! That GTO/3000GT VR4 is the joint! Nice seeing the somewhat forgotten heavyweight JDM bruiser showing a bit of its power.

The 3000GT, NSX, 300ZX, Supra, RX-7, MR2 Turbo, Eclipse Turbo, 240SX, Integra Type R, Celica Alltrac, and Skyline GT-R were crazy.
Holy shit that 3000GT sounds amazing. I've never heard one that sounds that good.
The 3000GT had one of the very few V6 engines that I actually liked the sound of. It’s too bad they didn’t make more because I would love to have one. People say that “Oh, you’re just buying a Dodge” but to me and many people it’s a very special car.

The 3000GT VR-4 was so far ahead of its time, it could pass for a recently manufactured car! Maybe it’s just that the one in this video is so perfect, it has clouded my judgement, I don’t know...but wow!

Fast bad ass cars but you know that VR-4 turn that boost up on the 2nd run. The Stang had a small pull on the VR-4 on the 60 roll. Then u can tell the VR-4 up the boost and walk the stang hard on the 40 role..... DAMN

Keeps 3000gt's on the cheaper side of the scale. i think it would be a horrific thing for 3000gt's to become mainstream and watch a bunch of them get destroyed over it by people jumping bandwagons on a car that since the 1990's they never gave a shit about or a million excuses as to why it was "bad" even though stock for stock it shit all over the blessed supra lol.

So many idiots in the comment section here that know nothing of the GTO / 3000GT platform...they do 12.8 - 13.3 @ 102 - 106mph stock depending on year and trim level.
It wasted the 300ZX TT and RX7 TT easily in a straight line stock v stock.
Here in the UK, they have a nice following. Mate has 2 pristine stock examples - a 93 UK spec GTO TT and a USDM 95 3000GT VR4. Both make the new FK8 Type R look slow in comparison.
People- do research before you speak.
Honda Kills nice cars but too heavy. 12.8 is a bit hopeful, mid-low 13 sec stock
@@davidcraig7771 USDM models are good for 13.1- 13.3@102-104mph with a good driver. The Stealth TT is lighter and capable of high 12s stock, its been documented, but it takes perfect conditions and a perfect launch.
UK/Euro models have 13G turbos instead of 9bs. The 5 speed models will do an honest 13.2 - 13.4@104-106mph, the 6 speeds are the quickest and easily run 12.8-12.9@105-106mph due to shorter gearing.
The fastest of the bunch is the J spec GTO MR model, a stock one wasted my stock NSX Type R from a dead stop to 270kph ish by 1.5 car lengths. They run 12.6-13.1@106-108mph depending on if its a 5 or 6 speed trans.
The only dud of the bunch is the USDM pre 1994 models that were rated at 300hp. Those cars will do 13.6 - 13.9 @ 99 - 101mph - they are heavier.
The 320bhp rating is bs mate. They make more like 340 - 350hp at the crank. Their hp is underrated, same as the Skyline GTRs 276bhp. UK models were rated 280bhp @ the wheels, not the crank.
As far as weight, they got lighter and lighter over the years. And the demon platform is heavy as all hell.
My mate is right obsessed with these cars. Used to talk to me for hours about them at the pub. Everyone says they're heavy. I have links if youd like to see them.

How much did you end up spending on the JDM engine + the other goodies? (New Oil Cooler, Intercooler piping, radiator, etc.)
ive been in a fully built vr4 before and trust me, it feels alot faster than it looks in the video, it pulls so hard it feels like your head is glued to the seat
My favorite VR-4 in all the internets. Even better than my built VR-4 on the first Gran Turismo. And that shit was built!

so i heard the guy makes the parts by himself any idea where i might be able to get performance parts like those?? i have the same engine not much luck trying to find parts for it... the same 6g72 is the same 6g71 but im thinking of getting the 6g75 the 3.8 wich is bigger and makes more power so i might be able to get parts for it much easier but any suggestions would be really appreciated

I had a $500 base trim 1995 3000GT as a first car. I loved that baby so much but it was leaking oil like crazy and then a pick up slammed into me haha. Really nice seeing this baby.

I always wanted a 3000gt. They definitely were ahead of their time, even on the interior.
My buddy, just out of high school got a 92 vr4 when i was 20yrs old around 2005. That thing was crazy! we kept doing pulls and wondered what this weird turbulence was that could be heard when you were in the car. So he did a flyby with a few of us outside. You could hear the turbulence as the car drove pass you! He ended up selling because it was too much to maintain.
