I knew JoJo in Tucson. He was a friend of my brothers, and we'd play $5 golf at the Silverbell muni golf course back in the late 80's. He was a super nice guy who kinda didn't seem to deserve what he got, not that I knew the whole story, but he was a cool dude. I guess in this case he was the unsuspecting muse for part of a great pop song, hard to compete with a rich rock star with an accent. Love will break your heart. RIP Mel.
