      No, I’m pretty sure he’s just playing George’s (amazing, tricky, challenging) part....EDIT (10 minutes after initial comment) So, I did a small bit of inter web checking & it seems there is some debate if George played his part on one guitar or overdubbed the (guitar) harmony part. Who knows...I HAVE seen a couple Beatles tribute bands over the years do a very faithful version live, without modern trickery...so, it can be done! Props none-the-less to Josh!!! Super job!

      I think it was pre recorded and played at the park, thats why the other dude is wondering how he connected his electric guitar. Have you seen how the 2 guitars are played? There is no way that one person can do it at the same time, otherwise paul or george would have.

    • @marvinbnaylor
      @marvinbnaylor 3 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @@majortom4543 It IS possible to play both parts on one guitar. I used to do it myself for years in Beatles tribute groups. But it's quite difficult (for "pop" guitar, that is) and takes a lot of practise, which means a lot of time. McCartney and Harrison didn't have the time to practise it up in the studio - it's too complicated and requires a certain degree of virtuosity. It's a lot quicker to do it with two players! This person (Josh?) has had a lot of time to devote to it and he does it very well. For what it's worth and in case you're interested, the first half, or first 4 bars (of the long riff, as opposed to the shorter one of the intro) can be played with the G and B strings; easier than the 2nd half (bars 5-8) which has to be played with the G and high E strings - so with a string between them.

      You’re not wrong, but it’s strange to me that this song isn’t talked about often, but if you get into a specifically Beatles convo with any fan, almost everybody has this near the top of their list of favorites.
      So “underrated?” Id say yes and no

    1) Its heartening - VERY heartening - to see the younger generation embrace the excellence of 60s and 70s music, like the Beatles and their singular musical excellence and genius.
    2) Watching the various (not just this guy) guitarists who attempt George's engaging and ingeniously melodic riff that occurs throughout the song, and refraining from playing all of it, highlights (and with all due respect to other guitarists) the deceptive difficulty of that riff, which, if you watch George do it, is done effortlessly and fluidly, and actually, at times, almost distractedly,, as if George was SO much in control of what he was doing that he didn't necessarily need to pay attention, look at the fretboard, etc. - so engrained was it for him.

    "And Your Bird Can Sing" was recorded in April 1966 in "only" 11 Takes according to "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions: The Official Story of the Abbey Road Years" by Mark Lewisohn. This song was never performed live in front of an audience by The Beatles. More underated Beatles tunes: I'm only sleeping, I want to tell you, Dr. Robert, Tomorrow Never Knows, She Said She Said. All from "Revolver" :-(, Savoy Truffle and Old Brown Shoe.

      "More underated Beatles tunes"
      According to who. What is underrated anyway, totally subjective and a bit ridiculous talking about probably the most famous band in music history (and a great one too of course). Songs by bands you don't know probably qualify more.

      @Carol-Bell 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thorsten Pontow and your point is?

    • @mediamannaman
      @mediamannaman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Carol-Bell - Well, the point that I took (though I'm not a musician and it's maybe not what he intended) was that this was a fairly technical and difficult song to record, which just makes Josh, Carson, and Jim's accomplishment that much more worthy of our appreciation. Like K D said, above, some of us like knowing little tidbits like this - it enhances our musical appreciation.
