  • The new Pop-Up Creator feature in Silhouette Studio v. 4 and above makes it so easy to make pop up cards from pretty much any clip art that you have. In this video tutorial, I'll give you a step-by-step walkthrough for designing a print & cut pop up card using clip art from the Mum's Garden collection.

    Silhouette is an amazing machine. It can do so much more than most people know. You should get used to using layers. You could put each item on a different layer & then are able to show & hide them as needed. The base card could be on one layer, the image aligned on another & then the front with its text & image aligned on a third layer. Think of Photoshop. Layers will totally revolutionize the way you work on projects.

    The image looks even better in practice than it does on the computer screen. It has to be the dynamics, the dimension and texture you created. Don't ask me to describe what you did, because I'm baffled, but I do love the results! You've given your viewers useful instructions to make something striking and truly handcrafted. Of course, I just like the pictures.

      Thanks, Keith! Pop-up cards are a lot of fun. I love the dimension that the popped up element(s) give to any card.

    I watched this video a few weeks ago and found it really helpful! I just now made the connection that you're the artist I emailed about licensing one of your Silhouette patterns! You're a terrific teacher!!

    Goodmorning, this a great tutorial and a beautifull card, but it is going very fast. English is not my native language. I am Dutch. So I would ask you do you have this tutorial in a written outlay on your blog? TIA Ineke

    Thank you for creating a video that just adresses the procedure without a bunch of additional nonsense of how to work within the silhouette software or basice computer operation. Quick, precise instructions. Just what I was looking for. For all of those looking for instructions on how to print and cut...google THOSE particular instructions. It is not fair to criticize a video for not including instructions on something other than it describes in the title.

    When you printed your card on the printer, what settings did you use? I can’t seem to get mine to print out the whole card, it’s chops half it off...thanks

    • @kdotbecca
      @kdotbecca  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Ingrid Kay! I just used my printer's default settings and made sure the paper size was set to the US standard 8 1/2" x 11". Might your printer have a custom scaling option set? If so, most printers have scaling options like "do not scale" or "fit to page", and you can try those to see if it fixes the problem. These options are usually in the printer settings window that pops up when you click to print something.

    What is the benefit of using double sided adhesive and/or score tape as opposed to basic Elmer's glue or a gluestick?

    • @kdotbecca
      @kdotbecca  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      shay galland - I like to use a dry adhesive like double-sided tape or ScorTape since it's an instant, strong bond, and I don't have to worry about anything sliding around if I work with the pop-up layer when I adhere it to the card base since there's no waiting for the adhesive to dry (in other words, I'm impatient - hehe!). A lesser concern is that liquid glue can sometimes cause cardstock to warp a bit if used on larger areas, and this isn't an issue with a dry adhesive.

    Did you print the clipart with the Silhouette or with a color printer and then place it on the pop-up space?

    • @kdotbecca
      @kdotbecca  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jean Kiekel - I printed the part of the card with the image on my printer and used Silhouette's print and cut feature to cut it out before adding it to the card.

    Ugh, this is the 3rd video I have watched with no information on how to print a pop up and what settings to use...completely frustrating!

    • @kdotbecca
      @kdotbecca  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Linda Lynch - What settings are you looking for? The blade settings that were used to cut the cardstock? For this cardstock, I typically use a blade depth of 5 or 6, speed 4, pressure 30, double cut. But settings will vary depending on brand/weight of cardstock and how new your blade is. You print and cut a pop up just like you would with a regular print and cut image in Silhouette Studio. Hope this helps!
