Ik like the HW77/97 more than any PCP. Simple, reliable, accurate, good looking and timeless. You need just a HW springer and a tin with pellets for whole day fun. Bottles, compressors, hoses, and all other tralala that comes with a PCP makes it a no go for me. Thanks for this video!
I believe everyone needs a springer in their lives, it’ll last forever if looked after and a springer will always put food on the table, no need for pumps, bottles or compressors.
I have the exact same 77 as you ,in that colour way too ,it was sold as the HW77 special edition,I have a mate with the blue laminate stock on a 97 as they are nearly identical that’s some sexy looking gun
The last air rifle I owned was a BSA Meteor that had all the accuracy and power of a pea shooter in the hands of an asthmatic. I bought one of these last week and am delighted with it in spite of the fact that my hands aren't quite as steady as they were forty years ago. The only disappointment is that it doesn't come with a bayonet to compensate for my occasional wayward shot.
Another great review, thank you. I agree that they’re superb rifles. I have the 97KT and absolutely love it. Keep them coming please Richard, your no nonsense delivery and thorough reviewing style are a breath of fresh air.
I came here to learn what I could on this Weihrauch model HW77, I think it's perhaps the best review on this rifle that I have found. Good enough in fact, that I subscribed. I did enjoy the detail you have here. Thanks for this.
My girlfriends dad has a 1984 HW77 in .22 and is still going strong. My gun is a 1997 mk2 TX200 hc in .22 and there is much in them. Both are great guns.
The first rifle I bought was a HW77 in .22, back in 1982! I absolutely loved it and couldn’t seem to miss (very often)! Up until then I was using the BSA Airsporter so the difference was astonishing. I very stupidly traded it for a poorly modified 80 which I couldn’t hit anything with. I’m thinking of getting the 77 special edition to add to my collection of Weihrauchs. Enjoy your rifle.👍
That stock is gorgeous ... and the gun on the whole is quality , looking forward to the HW97 review .. and the inevitable comparisons .. love these vids ..
Nice to see you shooting old springers. You Mentioned the 80 90s underlevers. Have a look at the BSAs Goldstar and Superstar with rolling breech lovely peace of Engineering.
HW77 was the first air rifle I owned. purchased in1984. had to give it up in 2005 for reasons that were no fault of the gun, just purchased the model shown in this video forest green laminate HW77K and looking forward to shooting it for the next 20 years or so.
Hi Richard, stunning rifle that stock is absolutely gorgeous I'm not sure but I think they call it the forest laminate pattern it's just adorable!. A life time of service right there no doubt, an absolute classic. Atb Dave
From one Richard to another :-) nice detailed and informative review with much attention to safe handling of an airgun. I have a HW77 in Forest Green laminate FAC in .22cal. Might want to mention that you have pointed several time to the SAFETY catch being located on the breech. I believe the more accurate location is: on top of the 'action' of the airgun. Otherwise very well done.
@@jakenconor Both the HW77 and HW97K are capable of placing pellets accurately at full UK legal limit power. Which one you choose largely comes down to the one you like the look and feel of the most.
Nice review. I'm a pcp shooter but I bought this exact same gun, as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it. It really is a beautiful looking gun. Rarely shoot it but love it.
I have one of these. Mine favours the Crossman pellets. I get excellent groups with those😁 The only downside for me is the weight. Otherwise, I love it
I went through all of the jsb and rws range, ended up with the crosman lite .177 lead nails had to chase the edge to see I wasnt completely missing. that was with a 97k. I had a 77 I detuned to 10.2ftlb or so I thought,it decided it liked bisley magnum went to 11.97 great guns. these results were never repeated by any pcp I had beautiful rifles
I've had my 77k since 1995, I've went through loads of different guns both spring and pcp and even though I usually use my current pcp in the field, my 77k is the one gun I'll never part with. It's an absolute tack driver and as stated in your review. The trigger is almost unrivalled.
Awesome you will fall head over heels for the 77 but be warned you will end up having an affair when you meet the 97 both are gorgeous . Good hunting from Gloucester Massachusetts
Wow. I really enjoyed your video on the hw77. Thank you. I’m in canada and trying to order an hw77k in .177 and a hw80slk in .22. Both full power fac versions. I never thought I’d say this but they are a great value here when I compare prices to a tx200. Theyre beautiful but mucho deniro here. Thanks for confirming my choice! Ill be watching many more of your TH-cam films. I tried the pcp world with an impact m3. Sooo much cost with all the compressors, bottles, etc. i also had a leak and had to send it back on warranty. I sold it after only a few months. Keeping all my weihrauchs and vintage crosman pistols.
Hi Dustin. I hope you manage to track down those Weihrauchs - you couldn't have chosen two better rifles. The HW80 was designed as a 20+ ft/lbs rifle so I'm sure it will be awesome at that output.
Still got my Venom Lazaglide 77 with ‘custom’ walnut sporter stock. It’s a rifle I’ll never sell.I had a break from using it for several years so I put the first few shots through the chrono and it was spot on !
@@airgunextra It’s incredibly accurate too,but heavy -though superbly balanced in the shoulder. I’ll never sell it,they’ll have to prize it out of my cold dead hands!
I'm already there David! My best friend's brother had one as a kid when they first came out and Id wanted one ever since. It didn't disappoint. Thanks for watching.
Great video Richard : I too like the HW 77 been thinking about getting one for a while now, just one thing it would be nice of HW would fit a silencer to the rifle like the HW 97 model and preset using my HW99s had the HW97 a number years ago in. 22 calibre but the HW 77 I would favour 177 cal Regards Neil
Excellent piece of kit!! You know, I have the same exact laminated 77 stock, only mine is a HW 97K... At first, I did a double take when I saw it at the gun shop, the gentleman from the shop (owner) mentioned that it was a Special Edition HW 97K (1.77 caliber) I fell head over heels for it , I ended up getting it of course. :-) Takes some getting use to, after shooting PCP's all day long, and getting spoiled, when you pick up the HW97K, and shoot it day after day, you really start to understand the rifle. And it IS super accurate!!!! That 77 stock is lovely, very comfortable indeed!! Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Hi mate. I have 2 HW 77k´s one in .177 and one in .22 . The .22 I bought used from a friend of mine and I ( my god friend and gunsmith in Germany) putt in a sub 12 coil and it is laser beam !! My .177 I already had it at FAC power( 17-18 fpe) from Germany too..... and it was 1000 % accurate at all distances up to 80 yds .... BUT it shoots way to hard!!! Fun just the first couple of shuts and after 20-30 shuts ,you know you feel it is to much ! The harmonics was not in the gun !!! So I ( me ) bought a sub 12 coil and putt some spacer between the spring and the piston ( no twang again !) and it is a day and night different and it is bang on 11.9 fpe !!!!!!!!!! + I did change the color of the stocks . The original beach stock is boring as hell!! I sanded those down and got " English Walnut " wax on these . 2 strokes !!! And it is hell god looking ! If you do not know it is a beach wood you mite think it is walnut !!! 💥😃 Next step are the cheek pieces . Original Sporter stock cheek rests are way to low with a scope . Even with medium Sports Match rings for a 50 mm scope !! Anyways, I will find a way to fix that problem !! Thanks for sharing these great videos ❗️Greetings from Norway !!
Good stuff mate! Im fortunate enough to have a tuned hw77k laminate. Also 2 hw97kt i love em! My hw97 stainless in 177 vglide tuned is crazy accurate can worry pcp,s!
@@airgunextra they do shoot lovely mate just a nice thud from the action no harshness as i find em quite harsh in .177 standard. I still rate the little hw99s in .22 as the best springer on the market for the price, cracking little hunter. Keep up the good work mate really enjoy the reviews

Yes got right back in air weapons, bought myself a wolverine r forester like the one you tested , just joined a club, next I need a compressor , any advice on compressor , have you got one?
Hi Brian. You could try one of these: www.ant-supplies.uk/gun-sling-fittings/rifle-split-band-swivel-bases.html You may want to carry the rifle muzzle down though. Good luck.
Iv had had mine since 88 I think she needs some attention lol also got an older hw35 both awsome guns. Get brought on a fun target day. Since I got my AirArms s410 carbine they kinda got put to the side 😞 can't sell them still love them. Am I bad lol take care great review and great shooting 👍 👍 👍 😜 🏴 🦄 🎣 😁 🤞 ✌️
I am a lifelong user of spring powered air rifles. I tried PCPs and they are OK. However, when I feel like shooting, I select a Weihrauch, Walther, or a Diana underlever. No pumps, compressors, or gauges, just cock the rifle, aim, and fire. Simplicity and reliability rule with springers.
A good springer is certainly a joy to shoot, and a challenge to shoot well as well. That said, I am consistently more accurate with a PCP, as I suspect most people are, so when it comes to pest control I find myself using a PCP every time. Thanks for watching.
Hi John. Yes, I'll plan to do that. I believe the main differences are that the 97 has an adjustable butt. Unlike the 77 it does not come with open sights. There are also a few different options with the 97, including thumbhole stocks. No doubt I'm forgetting a few, but I think those are the main difference. There are a lot of similarities in terms of the firing and cocking actions. Thanks for watching.
They are the same except the 77 has open sights and the 97 has a silencer the 97 has a higher cheek piece for scope use i have a 97k stainless iv owned a 77
The only difference between HW77 an HW97 is the barrel. HW77K has 370 mm (470 mm for HW77) long barrel with the front socket where open sights can be mounted. HW97 has a bit shorter barrel (300 mm I think) extended by a compensator (it's not a silencer, but a compensator optimizing a gas output from the barrel). You cannot mount open sights to HW97 barrel. Everything else is the same incl. types of stock. E.g. you can have HW77 with "KT" thumbhole stock, nickel plated metal parts etc., and all parts of these two guns are interchangeable. Note: I am a satisified user of HW77K (.177, 16J) with a standard stock.
Hi Richard, that looks a fab rifle, do you clean your barrels on new rifles before you shoot them this will go great with my HW100KT even though the laminate's are more expensive another top vlog. 👍
HI Mark. Thanks very much. It is a beauty. To be honest, I only ever clean my barrels when notice a drop off in accuracy. And that seems to happen more frequently with my FAC rifles. Some need cleaning more regularly than others but I find I rarely have to clean my 12 t. lbs. rifles. Thanks for watching.
Hi. Personally I use a PARD NV008 LRF and an ATN X-Sight 4K Pro and find them both excellent. I also have a PARD NV007 add on which is great for rat shooting. Others to consider include the Sightmark Wraith and Pulsar Digisight Ultra 450 LRF. Thanks for watching.
Hi. Thanks for watching. Funnily enough I had the HW77 on the range today. Average over 25 shots was 787 fps or 11.56 ft. lbs. with a spread of 13 fps.
Great review, can you do a 10mt group please as I want to shoot it in comps. I am hoping it is a one hole shooter. Also what does the trigger come down to in weight as well please.
Cracking vid, loved it! Forgot how heavy the 77 is.....😂😂 I’ll have to get my batman to carry it for me.....😜 Loved the laminate stock and got one similar, with just enough discount to allow Welsh Willy to tune it up for me and not cost much more in pennies! I’ve subscribed and “rung the bell”.....👍🏻👍🏻🤪
Hi Sir, nice review and a beautiful rifle... got a question for you: it seems pretty loud from the video...talking about Muzzle Crack, not the mechanical "sound"...would you consider it backyard friendly?? Thank You
Hi Raffaele. Thanks very much. The muzzle crack is not too bad - the recording equipment always makes it sound louder than it is in reality. The mechanical noise is probably louder, and Weihrauchs do see to have a 'twang' straight out the box, but that can be easily dealt with by having it tuned. The bigger point to consider if shooting in the back yard is what you are going to be shooting at. The noise pellets make when impacting the target is often the noisiest factor. So, thinking about the right backstop is important. If you're going to shoot against a piece of wood or a concrete slab both will do a good job of stopping pellets but will make quite a bit of noise. Bags of sand or gardener's peat are much quieter, or covering wood/stone with old towels will be much quieter.
It was this hw77 same stock or the tx200 standard length with walnut stock ..I ended up with the tx200 ..I would still get this 77 in green ,but still waiting for the range to open
I have the same stock on my hw97k it's really does feel nice I have a tx200 and a prosport but this is my favorite stock the rifle's I couldn't really separate in quality and performance just found your channel and subscribed very good reviews I'm looking at the bsa r10 I like springer's best but really like these been watching your reviews on them 👍👍
Great review Richard, I've just purchased the same gun as yours but with the weihrauch scope. I'm not overly keen on the safety button. I had my fingerless gloves on I'm left-handed cock the gun with my right I was finding that sometimes my gloves was stopping the gun from going into safe mode if my hand was just nearly touching the safety button without being aware of it at first The cocking of the gun doesn't seem strong enough to push thr safety button out if there's obstruction like part of my gloves. So you have to be more aware of it. I have a lot of guns and this is the only one to put it back in safe mode you have to re-cock the gun. What's your thoughts on it ? Thanks Brian
Thanks Brian. I must admit, I've not experienced the issue you describe in any of the Weihrauch springers I've owned or tested. But I've never cocked them left-handed of course! The re-cocking process you describe is the same on most other Weihrauch springers. I'm in two minds - on the one hand I like to be able to de-cock the rifle. On the other, the lack of an anti-bear trap mechanism is not optimal and de-cocking could result in a pellet being left in the breech of an uncocked rifle. Having said that, I love my HW77s, my HW80 and HW35 and really wouldn't be without them. Enjoy your new rifle Brian and I hope you get the knack of cocking it cack-handed soon!
Hi Paul. Back in the very early 80s, my very first air rifle was an ASI (El Gamo) Paratrooper loaned to me by my Uncle Trev. When I graduated to the need for a more powerful rifle I saved up and bought a BSA Airsporter S. At that time, my best mate, Phil, had an HW80 which was just better and although I accounted for my share of pigeons and squirrels, Phil shot an awful lot more. I simply had to have one. Phil's younger brother, Henry, also had an HW80. He then bought, or was given, an HW77. I sold my Airsporter S to a boy at school and acquired Henry's HW80 with the proceeds - I still have it today. I remember coveting Henry's HW77 though and have always wanted one. Fast forward nearly 40 years and I had to write a review on British v German underlever rifles for Airgun Shooter. Lockdown was in full swing and Brexit was just starting to have an effect on imports. I managed to get the ProSport and TX200 from Air Arms ok but Hull Cartridge had run out of stock and was waiting for a delivery. I managed to borrow and HW97K from a mate and, with my deadline looming, it just seemed like the sun, moon and stars had aligned and I was fated to buy my HW77 at last. A bit of a flirt on the internet and a few days later the rifle you see in the video was delivered. It was well worth the wait. Sorry if that's more than you wanted Paul, but I think the stories behind why we own rifles is often as much fun as owning them.
Hi Luis. I'm always willing to be corrected, but don't believe the current line up has a thumbhole version. There may have been one at some point in the rifle's 30 odd year history, but I don't think so, not as standard. Might you be thinking of the HW97? If anyone else knows, please feel free to chime in...
@@nlmeireles5109 Hi Luis. I stand corrected. I've not seen that anywhere else. I wonder if it is a special limited edition for certain markets? There's no reference to it on the Weihrauch website. Have you bought one? I just wonder what would happen if you tried to buy through the website and whether you would get an 'unavailable' message or not. Thanks for letting me know...
@@airgunextraHi Richard, yes, for me the only problem is that they all come with 7.5 Jules and a ..F..engraved in the gun, in Germany all rifles with more than 7.5 J, have to have a special license, here in portugal the limit is 24 Jules, however for me it is not a problem, I fine tune all my carbines with 16 jules, I think the ideal power for spring carbines, especially in caliber 4.5, Mr Richard is an honor for me being able to talk to you, I had already read some of your articles on Google, the last one of an hw30s that I love, if you have time see my collection in a video I have on youtube, airguns.Portugal, cheers.
If you ignore the flyer it's accuracy is in PCP territory.btw what camera do you use the colour grading looks amazing.looking at the colour science I may guess it's some Panasonic.
That is one thing about my HW77K .177, it's a brilliant accurate spring rifle and furnished with a CS700 thumbhole stock it's a beauty, but aint half loud compared to others, not ideal for plinking in the garden. My quietest springers are a Cometa 5 .22 (low power, awful trigger yet surprisingly accurate) and an HW30S .22 which is a fantastic little garden gun. Quietest airgun is my AA S400C .22 with moderator fitted.
@@neilhudson3111 Air Arms really nailed it with that design, light weight, reliable and superbly accurate. There used to be rats digging and chewing around my garden shed, not anymore!
@@Beesa10 I’ve had my eye on one a while now and with a decent moderator are very quiet. Having ‘lovely’ neighbours I rarely shoot in my garden anymore as they would take great delight in having the police round even though I’m entirely legal & know the law, some folk can’t live & let live unfortunately!
@@neilhudson3111 That is unfortunate. The relative quietness is one of the things which makes the S400/410 good for hunting & pest control too. When I first got mine I went from shooting saucer sized groups with a BSA Lightning XL with a dodgy trigger (shots would not release consistently, sometimes you would pull the trigger and the mainspring would remain compressed, so it was returned to BSA) to shooting 5p sized groups with the S400.
Hi Timothy. Thanks very much, and thanks for watching. You're going to get me into a lot of trouble answering this one as plenty of people love their BSAs and would defend them to their last breath! I think though its fair to say that generally speaking, most people accept that rifles from Weihrauch are better performers. The Rekord trigger in particular is a class above that of the BSA range, and just about everything else. That's not to say that BSAs can't be shot accurately because they can, but if you're looking for a top of the range springer, I'd suggest trying a Weihrauch first before plonking your money down on a BSA.
I've seen the HW77 green laminate both with and without the Weihrauch written in the for-end checkering. Any idea why some do and some don't? I have exactly this rifle coming to me this week and am hoping to get one with Weihrauch written on it.
@@airgunextra You are right I think. Mine is (obviously) new and does have Weihrauch on it's sides. VERY pretty. I've been shooting it with the open sights to start, after a clean. But my old eyes only see a blurred image for the rear sight so a scope is going on. (A Gerholdt and Reuss 3-12)
Hi Mike. I don't recall exactly. You may have to undo the screws a fair bit to be able to remove the sight by lifting it off instead of trying to slide it off.
I reviewed both on the channel and would find it hard to choose between the two to be honest. I have a bit of a soft spot for the HW77 and have a couple simply because I always liked the rifle as kid but never could afford one! Thanks for watching.

Hi Sam. We've got a review on a couple of sub £100 scopes coming up. Watch this space! Great rifle by the way. I'm sure your grandad would be happy to know it is being put to good use. Did you catch our review here: th-cam.com/video/UuTi2MjmL6w/w-d-xo.html ?
Hello friend...have you listen that with the different versions of this airifle threre are different joules...???...For example other (less)...have the version of the 77 4.5mm...about 22.5j...and other (more) the 77 5.5mm...and others the versions with "k"...(with small barrel)..???...I want your opinion about this if you know because I am looking for the best rifle for me...for medium and long distance targets...but with no scope and open sights only...!!!
Hi. The power will depend on the laws of the country in which you live. In the UK, where we are limited to 12 ft/lbs I'd suggest that .177 is better for slightly longer distances - out to 50 metres (although I wouldn't recommend hunting at more than 40 metres and only then if you are competent) - as the trajectory is much flatter than .22. In fact we did a video on different .177 / .22 trajectories at different distances. th-cam.com/video/lpJSHNhU5_M/w-d-xo.html The HW77 is available at slightly higher power levels, however there comes a point where the stronger mechanical action will affect accuracy. I hope that helps.
In all honesty Nick, I don't know. Personally I wouldn't be concerned if I got caught out in light ran a few times as long as I dried everything off properly, but I wouldn't want to do it too often, nor in anything too heavy. Thanks for watching.
Hi. The UK legal limit is 12 ft lbs or 16 Joules. In .177 that's around 780 fps, and .22 around 580 fps. depending obviously on the weight of pellet used. Thanks for watching.
Please kind people,Is the HW 77 better than the HW 97 in any department? I want to get a new Weihrauch and my local dealer, has only the 77 and the 80 in stock at 22 cal. If you could only have 1 and could only use open sights, which one would you get? 95 or maybe the 80?
Hi. Thanks for watching and taking the time to ask a question. The HW97K and HW77 are very similar in terms of firing cycle and mechanics and will both put pellets through the same hole for as long as you can be bothered to pull the trigger. The HW97K has an adjustable shoulder pad and a silencer, and the option of a thumbhole stock. Personally I prefer the HW77K over the HW97K but would struggle to explain why, and sometimes it simply comes down to gut feel. The HW95 and HW80 are amongst the best break barrels available. I love the HW80 and still have the 1983 rifle I had as a kid. It is a bit of a lump though at around 4kg compared to the HW95 at 3.4 kg. Both are very reliable and very accurate. People will tell you that as a fixed barrel, the HW77 is potentially more accurate that the HW80/95, but to be honest the difference would probably only be obvious if you are an extremely good shot. I know its difficult, especially right now, but if you get the chance to see all three and put them in your shoulder I'm sure one will 'feel' more right than the other two. Good luck and please keep watching. Rich.
@@airgunextra I can't go the shop to try one. Also, We are not allowed to use scopes or silencers (stupid laws) But I can get any open sight Weihrauch without the power limit, that England has for excample. Problem is, that I can only use open sights and I can't go there to see if they fit my relatevely long arms.I'm 6 ft tall. Anyway, thank you very much, for the response!

Thanks Dave. Yes, you could be right. Trouble is I like the other laminate as well!
When you have lots of practice with hw77/97 they will one hole group at 50 yards, but then as you said it still needs to bed in.
Thank you so much for this. I was very confused as to how to put the safety back on once it was live. Couldn't find how to do it anywhere!!
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching.
@@airgunextra That was a great help to me too, I never knew about that feature. Thank you.
Good shooting, i have 3 weihrauch springers love them
Can't go wrong with a Weihrauch springer!
Which is best for hunting in your opinion?

Thanks very much. Looks as good it shoots as I'm sure you'll agree.
I have one of these. Mine favours the Crossman pellets. I get excellent groups with those😁
The only downside for me is the weight.

Excellent piece of kit!!
You know, I have the same exact laminated 77 stock, only mine is a HW 97K...
At first, I did a double take when I saw it at the gun shop, the gentleman from the shop (owner) mentioned that it was a Special Edition HW 97K (1.77 caliber)
I fell head over heels for it , I ended up getting it of course. :-)
Takes some getting use to, after shooting PCP's all day long, and getting spoiled, when you pick up the HW97K, and shoot it day after day, you really start to understand the rifle. And it IS super accurate!!!! That 77 stock is lovely, very comfortable indeed!!
Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thanks very much Lefty. I didn't realise there was a 97k with that stock. I thought they only did a blue laminate. I bet it looks great though...
Excellent review, the 77 is on my wish list. Have the 97, sublime.
Thanks very much. Go on...you know you want to! I have to say best springer I've ever used straight out of the box. Thanks for watching.
Fun just the first
couple of shuts and after 20-30 shuts ,you know you feel it is to much !
Next step are the cheek pieces . Original Sporter stock cheek rests are way to low with a scope . Even with medium Sports Match rings for a 50 mm scope !! Anyways, I will find a way to fix that problem !! Thanks for sharing these great videos ❗️Greetings from Norway !!
Thanks Carsten. Sounds like some amazing mods! And thanks for watching too...
Good stuff mate! Im fortunate enough to have a tuned hw77k laminate. Also 2 hw97kt i love em! My hw97 stainless in 177 vglide tuned is crazy accurate can worry pcp,s!

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Andy.
I had a 77 for years. Then got rid and went over to PCP. Biggest mistake ever. I'm now going to get rid of the PCP rifle and will look for a 77 or 97.
Hi can you note the differences between the 77 and the 97 in the next video. thanks
@@airgunextra looking forward to it, I fancy a underleaver for a left hander. the wide open port/breach would
better suit me as a lefty
@@gallstar201 Its certainly very accessible, even for my fat hands!
Excellent video thanks very much and like yourself i love that laminated stock

HI Mark. Thanks very much. It is a beauty. To be honest, I only ever clean my barrels when notice a drop off in accuracy. And that seems to happen more frequently with my FAC rifles.
Bags of sand or gardener's peat are much quieter, or covering wood/stone with old towels will be much quieter.
are you shooting lead free pellets sounds like its breaking the speed of sound on video
Hi Lee. Thanks for watching. No, just regular lead pellets - Air Arms Diabolo Field 4.52mm.

Hi there!
How many joules energy are you shooting with your HW77?
Hi - mine is a 12 ft/lbs rifle. So, 16 Joules.
Hi Richard can ask what made choose this rifle over the air arms 2 you tested thanks

Had a 77k for 25 yrs and must be one of the best springers ever made, only downside is a rather loud report!
@@Beesa10 thanks for the reply and an AA S400 is the next rifle I’m looking at, what a coincidence!
Just wondering how do these rifles compare to BSA rifles ? Very good review by the way
Which is the best pellet for this airgun rifle??
Hi. Most good quality pellets work well with the HW77K. I used Air Arms Diabolo Field in the review - 4.52mm size. But JSB Exacts work just as well.
I've seen the HW77 green laminate both with and without the Weihrauch written in the for-end checkering.
Any idea why some do and some don't?

The HW77 is available at slightly higher power levels, however there comes a point where the stronger mechanical action will affect accuracy. I hope that helps.
Out of interest how waterproof is that laminated stock?
In all honesty Nick, I don't know. Personally I wouldn't be concerned if I got caught out in light ran a few times as long as I dried everything off properly, but I wouldn't want to do it too often, nor in anything too heavy. Thanks for watching.
@@airgunextra Thanks for letting me know.
what's the muzzle velocity you guys get in the uk? 7,5J or more? cheers
Hi. The UK legal limit is 12 ft lbs or 16 Joules. In .177 that's around 780 fps, and .22 around 580 fps. depending obviously on the weight of pellet used. Thanks for watching.
I find the background sound makes it hard to hear you as it sets off my tinnitus. Can you try them without it please ?
The official dealer has only 2 in stock, the Laminated 77 and the hw80 in 22 cal he said but I can get any Weihrauch, from other dealers. Problem is, that I can only use open sights and I can't go there to see if they fit my relatevely long arms.I'm 6 ft tall. Anyway, thank you very much, for the response!
I have the 77k and the 97k the shoot so good stock out of the box but the 77k had a small chip in the stock i came like that new out of the box. for me as a perfectionist i feel bad about this its on top near the loading port were the metal meets the wood.
Is this normal? Greetings from the netherlands
Hi. No, I'm afraid that is not normal. Have you taken it back to the shop you bought it from?

Hi Richard.Lovely looking rifle and really accurate. How does it differ to the 97?Great review, cheers.👍🏻
Hi Justin. I'm hoping to film an HW97 review this weekend. Its is just as accurate at the HW97 though, and in truth there are lots o similarities between the two when it comes to cocking and firing action. Great rifle though...
@@airgunextra
Great.I will look forward to that.
Cheers Richard.👍🏻
