Not this particular train case, but another one I still have is holding up great. I perfected this process over many, many suitcase transformations, so I wouldn't change any of it. I'm happy with how it all works!
I threw out my moms old train case because it was the ugliest mustard yellow. Had I known I could do this I would have kept it! Now I’m mad at myself. But maybe I will find one out there. You did such a beautiful job. So cute. What was the type of glue used?
Thanks so much! You may be able to find another train case at a flea market or vintage shop. I use Mod Podge for the decoupage glue and Sobo craft glue for the interior.
If you have problems with sticking from paint or glue, you can try lightly dusting the areas with talc, cornstarch or baby powder. You might have to experiment with what works best in your climate, because humidity will play a role in sticking.
I loved this video....my BF found me a train case...but, it has a strange smell....and i have wanted to do something just like this. But i was afraid....not after watching your video. THank you so much for sharing. I would like to ask what type of glue you use on this project? Thank you again. Tracy
Awesome train case! What exactly is "mat board"? is that foam board?? thanks. And what kind of interfacing did you use? was it like batting or just regular interfacing. Light, medium or heavy? Have you ever tried using cardboard on the inside lining and sewing an elastic to hold your bottle etc? I love the hello Paris print you used. Thanks so much.
Hi! Mat board is thinner than foam board. It's usually used to "mat" a picture before you frame it. The interfacing I use is like a very thin batting. I just like a little bit of padding on the inside. I have not experimented with elastic to hold things, I like to keep the inside simple and clean. These are the materials that I have found work for me, but you should try whatever appeals to you! Cheers.

I use Matte Mod Podge (it has the yellow label) because I like a non-glossy finish.

You work meticulously. I just redid the inside of a vintage suitcase using maps and I got mod podge everywhere.
It can be messy to work with. At least it dries clear!

Tracy Graff put coffee grounds inside the case and close it yo for a week. I read that helps with the odor.
