Just a PSA - I'm a decent sewer and made my sister a weighted blanket, thinking it would be cheaper/easier. It took me easily 15-20 hours of work and about $150 in supplies. It's a loooottt of work, especially juggling the heavy weight of the fabric as you sew. Just so the cost of buying your own doesn't seem so nuts - it's really not!
I was able to use a weighted blanket during a long hospital stay a few years ago. They lent it to me while there. It helped sooo much!! I have several disabilities and it helped many. Unfortunately they are extremely expensive! and making one myself is just to much too handle. I've really tried! several times since my hospital stay about 5 years ago. I'm still working on affording one. Not losing hope! To anyone who is fortunate enough to own one,I really hope it is helping you. Never throw it out. Please give it,if one day ,you don't need it,to some organization that gives too low income people in medical need. Or someone you already know who can benefit from it. It can be life changing.! If you have never tried one, it's worth trying
I LOVE my weighted blanket. I’ve always been a difficult sleeper. Takes me 1-2 hours to fall asleep and I would wake up throughout the night. I got a 25lb blanket as I wanted a lot of pressure. I now fall asleep so much faster and stay asleep. I don’t get hot at night which was surprising. My fiancé is also a shift worker. I used to always wake up when he would come or go in the middle of the night, and now I don’t even hear him!
I have a blanket filled with a lot of plastic balls of different sizes. It helps me a lot with my pain. I have no feelings below my waste, but the blanket helps me “feel” my body. It also give the body support.
My nephew is on the spectrum, and my sister actually researched and made a weighted balnket for him about ten years ago. There were not so many options then, so she made do with what she had! Now she says she would LOVE all of the options out there like removable covers for washing, quilting sections of the blanket so the weight is evenly distributed more easily, etc. Enjoy your blanket, my nephew really lives his! My eldest daughter also really benefits from hers and she has anxiety issues.
Jacquie, thank you so much for sharing your story with the world. I have been extremely fortunate to have great health for the entirety of my young life, but I have recently begun experiencing some alarming health issues that have been a struggle for me in many ways. However, watching your videos and seeing your wonderful positivity has helped reduce my anxiety about what I'm going through and helped me to "keep moving forward." :)
Really great review! I'm going to go look them up now. Thank you for doing the review. I hope your doing good Jaquie! I miss your daily videos, But glad for the videos your able to do now. Continued prayers!
Weighted blankets are wonderful for folks with Fibromyalgia. This coming from a gal that usually does not use anything more than a very thin blanket. I wish I had one of those, J. Glad you received one! 💕
I was wondering about that, I have fibromyalgia, anxiety, restless leg syndrome etc... and I really want to try one but they are so expensive so I don't think I can.
Weighted blankets are fantasticcccc. For those with sensory processing issues, PTSD/dissociation, autism, and other anxieties, a weighted vest can also be awesome. Particularly if you have a lot you need to do, and need to get around the house, do dishes, chores, etc, and can't sit down with the blanket. They can really really calm the central and autonomic nervous systems and supply that deep pressure that calm all mammals. It could be another option to look into for those who are really interested in a blanket, but also know that the times they'd need it most are times they're up and about.
I have a small weighted blanket that i carry around at school and i love it so much!!! I have PTSD and anxiety which was completely unbearable before i got my blanket. I also have POTS and it has helped lower my heart rate during episodes. Honestly, my weighted blanket has helped me so much during school, i don’t think i would have passed my classes without it due to my health getting really bad this past couple years.
What a beautiful blanket Jaquie! The whole concept behind this blanket is genius and I am so happy to hear that you are benefitting from it. So many people could potentially benefit from it, they just need to be made aware that this product exists. Great endorsement & thank you for sharing! 🤗❤️
I've been wanting a weighted blanket for so long! I do have this puffy comforter on my bed that probably weighs about 10 lbs, and I love it, but I'd still love a weighted blanket. I've wanted one for a long time, but they're SO EXPENSIVE.
Yea, even with the discount I'm still not able to get one. Yes, I have the money, but other things have to come first. Also I have a couple comforters but they just get so hot, ugh.
Thank you for that video. I just ordered the Queen 15 Lb blanket for my restless leg and restless sleep. The price of any handmade blanket will be a little pricey but if it makes me feel better then I just hit the jackpot. I’m thinking dry cleaning may be the way to go. But it depends on the instructions when they arrive. Love and happiness to you, Judd and Harlow!
I had my blanket custom made on etsy shop weightedwithluv, I got to pick the exact fabrics I wanted and got it for $207, and it is a 20 lb. blanket! It has held up really well other than the shop tag has gotten a little faded in the wash. For anyone looking for a cheaper alternative I would totally reccomend that shop. The less weight you have the cheaper it generally is. Twin size is perfect for me.
I’ve been considering buying or making one, especially since my anxiety and depression has been really bad at night lately, as well as constantly battling my adhd when I’m trying to sleep
Thanks so much for this video and introduction of the weighted blanket. Your weighted blanket is stunning and it appears that Harlow also approves of it. She was so comfy and happy sleeping on it, that she didn’t want to part with it. I am so happy for you, that you got the weighted blanket and that it’s proving to be so beneficial for you. May God bring many more great things your way in order for you to get all of your chronic illnesses under control. Wishing you and your beautiful family Gods most abundant blessings for good health, happiness always and something to laugh and smile about for every day. 🕊🌸🕊🌸🕊🌸🕊🌸
I have been contemplating a weighted blanket, so this has made me more interested in possibly investing into on! Thank you Jaquie for this review, I will be checking them out soon.
Im super jealous of that blanket! It is absolutely gorgeous!! and I love the embroidered message! And Im so happy it can be yet another great tool for you and your symptoms! I also suffer from restless leg syndrom! I have to look into this!! Rock On ❤️❤️❤️
Many years ago my grandma made quilts for her family (no premade available) and they were heavy but I felt safe and secure and protected underneath them so I am sure these blankets would feel the same way. First I heard of them.
I just got a weighted blanket. I love it! It helps with pain, restlessness when sleeping and it helps me feel “safe” . It’s done a lot to help me with chronic pain and my illness. Great review! I second everything Jaquie says!😊
Yeah, it makes sense for the restless leg syndrom and anxiety and stuff like that. When my legs are restless while sitting, once I get up and put a weigh on them it goes away....the same is said about panic attacks and anxiety, that pressure helps, that is why service dogs can do deep pressure therapy, the idea is the same :) this is cool, I had no idea such blankets exists.
I would love a weighted blanket. Usually I ask my dog to lie on my legs if I’m having restless legs, but sometimes he’s too heavy and my knees bend back. What you said about putting the lap pad on your face for a migraine sounded great as well, I normally pile pillows on my head for the weight and darkness.
Thanks for the excellent review. Based on it, I ordered a 22-pound blanket from them (based on a body weight percentage calculation). I’ve heard good things about weighted blankets and the 35 percent discount was the catalyst for my taking the plunge.
Thank you for the video! I have an autoimmune disease that causes chronic pain. I couldn’t afford the blanket but I was able to get a lap blanket. I use it on my abdomen when I have intestinal pain. OMG It helps!!! When I’m having severe pain it helps bring my pain level down. Again thank you for this video. My prayers are with you.
Thanks again Jaquie for more helpful info for us who have chronic pain, mine is from rheumatoid arthritis and I'm very interested in a. Weighted blanket. So glad you are doing better. Love from Minnesota!
I love your videos. I have a friend in a wheel chair and is in need of a service dog and I wil be having him watch your videos before he starts looking for one. You are awesome.
I got one a couple of days ago and love it. It used to take me like 2 hours to fall a sleep, and always move around because of my add. Now it takes me like 10-25 min to fall asleep and I don’t move as much either. I sleep with a comforter and my weighted blanket on top and I still don’t get hot while sleeping. Love your guys videos.
i been watching u like for a couple of days but your journey took me away. Even though you are chronically ill u power through everything and u are so strong. Your interest me so much and i have been binge watching u on my tv and i am in love with your channel. and even though i am only 11 i still love it. keep strong and say hi to harlow
Hey Jaquie! I had gotten my weighted blanket from a different company, but I checked out this shop. I just ordered one of their lap pads for myself. Thank you!😘
I’ve loved the idea of weighted blankets. Guess it’s time I start saving up. I feel like it would definitely help with my insomnia. Great review Jacquie! Enjoy your blanket 😊💜
I have really been looking into getting a weighted blanket. I have pretty bad anxiety and it's especially bad at night. For me I have to have tons of weight on me to keep me relaxed so even when its hot i am under 4-5 blankets and covers. I really appreciated your review.
So, I ordered one of the smaller weighted throw$ and today I finally got it in the mail. I even got 30% off thanks to your review & promotion. 🙏 Well, what good advice! I snuggled up with my new blanket after a “I did too much” fibro morning. I threw it over my torso and wow, it really helped with the stiffness and chronic pain that can go along with fibromyalgia and arthritis. I was actually able to take a short nap as it helped the pain and something about the weight that helped! It is excellent quality and I would recommend one. Thanks and thanks for this Soothing Weight company! Your NH friend w 4dogs JoDe
That actually sounds really good. I’m always moving around at night because of my anxiety and I think that could really help me calm down and actually sleep.
Our blankets are washer and dryer safe. They are once piece - no duvet covers needed. Wash on a delicate cycle. No fabric softener. Air dry or tumble dry on LOWEST heat setting. We use a half a dryer sheet to take care of any static. If your blanket is 12 lbs or more, it is recommended to air dry it or go to a laundromat and use their commercial machines. Always check your washer and dryer instruction manual for weight limits.
I love when you share about items. Bought them tempurpedic split king due to severe spine issues in May, because you shared about the doctor script I saved 800 in taxes. The xtra large heating pad, I use daily and I sent my mom one. I think this may help my husband with his MS and leg pains
Thank you for doing this! I have been on the fence for so long! Blankets are my favorite thing in the world. Yours is gorgeous! Navy is my favorite color too. I wasn't sure what weight, or if it would be too hard on my knees. Sometimes mine will sublux under blankets. We have many, many of the same health issues so I appreciate your review. 💗
I got one for my daughter to help with anxiety and it really seemed to help. She loves hers and has kept using it for a few years. she is now in college and took it with her
Oh man, I have weird dreams from hypersomnia/narcolepsy, I never thought of a weighted blanket helping with that. I'm pretty much in REM sleep the entire time I'm asleep.
I have a weighted blanket for anxiety. It really helps me when I get stressed or frustrated I go to my room and go under my fuzzy blanket and it calms me down and sometimes I end up falling asleep
I have a weighted blanket for anxiety and chronic pain. And I have a weighted lap blanket for when I study because I have adhd and it helps me sit still and concentrate.
You spot clean the actual blanket, but most weighted blankets come with covers you place over the weighted part, the covers are usually machine wash, hang dry.

I got the same blanket! Except the under color for mine is the coral pink 😊 my lap pad is the blue version of the flowers, with a black under color! I love them!!
I had really bad anxiety in school, so I would find myself in the nurses office because I felt disgusting and was having an anxiety attack. They would let me lay down with a weighted blanket for a little while to keep me from getting worse. It really helped, I hope it helps other people too.
I've heard of weight blankets and I actually had a friend mention it to me since she knows I always have trouble sleeping but I never really thought about it. But this video has me considering it .. lol
I’ve always wondered how these help and if they helped a lot. I always wanted to get one for my joint pain in my legs, maybe back too. I love your blanket so much!
Beautiful blanket! Weve been looking into them for a few months. Unfortunately we need two, so will have to wait until Christmas. I have eds and anxiety and my son is autistic.
I have one of those, but with 8 kg of chains. Its lovely. I got it for free via the Swedish health system. Im sleeping way calmer, and it helps for anxiety and restless legs too.
I'm soon excited that you got one. I've always liked a ton of weight on me when I slept so mine has been heaven. I started out with the recommend weight for your body weight which was 15lbs. But I outgrew it within a year. Not enough weight and not big enough which caused it to keep falling off of me. I recently got a new 25lb one that has filling in it so it's big and floofy. Plus it has a cover on it for easy cleaning. I recommend getting a blanket that comes with a cover since the weight is too much for the washing machines. Now I'm in true heaven and reaping all the benefits. I wish you tons of addictive love with your new blanket. :)
wow that blanket is beautiful! I am glad you love it :D A soft full size weighted blanket sounds amazing. Maybe I should invest in one once we move to our new flat. Or at least once I move in with my partner. They also like pressure so we could share it :D disabled dating: the perks
I have a weighted blanket. I love it. It's 30 pounds. I'm autistic and it helps a ton with my anxiety and sleeping issues. Only complaint is mine isn't soft cuz the soft ones were more expensive. So I always need another blanket for soft Ness lol.
I have a small blanket that is similar! Mine is the same pattern, but purple and grey, with purple dot minky on the back, and a light purple silk trim. Mine is not weighted though, I got it because of the dot minky for sensory input.
After watching your review I thought the weighted blanket could help me , so I went on their website. I have to sleep sitting up because of my back so I thought a twin would be a good size but there is no way I can afford even a twin size. I am on disability and after bills are paid there is very little left. $300.00 so I will have to do without is alot of money especially to me so I will have to do without. Glad you got yours and it is helping you
I am going to have to save up to get one of these. They are very price and I am on limited income now that I can no longer work. I have the same issue with my sleeping I turn over about every 10 to 15 minutes at night and I wake up every time. Its awful to always feel sleep deprived.
Why must weighted blankets be so dang expensive? I feel as if taking rocks and putting them in a fitted sheet would be cheaper. 300 is like, my whole paycheck.
HELP! Ive been debating about getting a weighted blanket for a while. I often get anxiety like symptoms ( worrying) at night, I also get leg pains at night, and I struggle to fall asleep some nights. I've heard these blankets can help with all of those. Ive just been hesitating because of the price. Do you think it would be worth the investment for me??
I got one for my birthday, I've been falling asleep faster and my dreams are calmed down a lot since using the blanket. It's really soothing thing to sleep with.
I definitely recommend! I myself cannot afford one, I have severe PTSD and anxiety and EDS. I used a family members and it was AMAZING! It worked wonders for my anxiety and leg pain!
I absolutely LOVE my weighted blanket except that it makes me so hot. Also I need to attach the weighted inside to the outside because it tends to get bunched up, leaving part of the outside empty, if that makes sense.
Also a rough rule of thumb for weight is 10% of your body weight - but you should do your own research :)
$150 is still cheaper than buying a $400 blanket.
You have to also account for the 15-20 hours of work KerrieBerrie mentioned. Your time is not free :)
But maybe you can easier spare some of your free time for that than your money.

My nephew is on the spectrum, and my sister actually researched and made a weighted balnket for him about ten years ago. There were not so many options then, so she made do with what she had! Now she says she would LOVE all of the options out there like removable covers for washing, quilting sections of the blanket so the weight is evenly distributed more easily, etc. Enjoy your blanket, my nephew really lives his! i get anxiety when sleeping, and feeling secure makes me feel way better. Thank you for your review!
Way cool! I think the lap blanket would be good for wheelchair use and take it with you in the car too. I'm so thankful they gave you one! ❤️
My blanket is 15 lbs. and I love it. My husband teases me about it also...
Mine has Minions on it.
Really great review! I'm going to go look them up now. Thank you for doing the review. I hope your doing good Jaquie! I miss your daily videos, But glad for the videos your able to do now. Continued prayers!
I’ve heard bits and pieces about weighted blankets, but never really investigated-your review has me thinking 🤔

Wait...weighted blankets can help restless leg syndrome?! I totally need to try one!!
FunsizedStyle same! I thought I would be stuck without any "cure" forever lol
I have one I don't have restless leg syndrome but I do have anxiety pysd and I am a very restless sleeper and it helps a ton
And also with autism and anxiety disorders.
Never heard of them, but your review makes me seriously consider it. Hi Harlow.😁
Oh, I have one of them, and it helps with my anxiety.
I am SO happy you did this video! I ordered my blanket the other day!!! I'm so excited to try it out!

Love the review. Highly tempted to get one after seeing this!
Have you washed it yet? Does it cause your washer to go out of balance or is it too heavy for the dryer?
Our blankets are washer and dryer safe. They are once piece - no duvet covers needed.
Wash on a delicate cycle. No fabric softener. Air dry or tumble dry on LOWEST heat setting. We use a half a dryer sheet to take care of any static.
If your blanket is 12 lbs or more, it is recommended to air dry it or go to a laundromat and use their commercial machines. Always check your washer and dryer instruction manual for weight limits.
I love my weighted blanket. It helps me stay asleep longer and fall asleep faster. It’s honestly helped me so much.

For my weighted blanket the website said you could machine wash on cold and air dry, I haven't washed mine yet since it is 20 pounds
You know of duvets? I use a duvet and wash that instead of the blanket.
I got the same blanket! Except the under color for mine is the coral pink 😊 my lap pad is the blue version of the flowers, with a black under color! I love them!!
I ordered my weighted blanket for only $87! I should be receiving it Thursday! I got mine to hopefully help with my anxiety
What a nice review!! I’ve been thinking about getting one for some time now
wow. the blanket looks amazing! ^_^ Harlow loves being with you and snuggles all the time. She is so adorable.
I'm ordering mine Friday . I have RA , Lupus , Restless Legs , Anxiety disorder.. I can't wait ..
But this video has me considering it .. lol
Love you and Harlow is so cute. love your channel and I am always looking forward for your videos. I also live in Florida
Hi Jaquie, Always nice to see you. That's a nice blanket.
Love you Jacquie glad things seem to be going well for you great review
Y'all both were so cute in this video, Ive been very curious about weighted blankets for my anxiety and insomnia.
Wow, these are really cool! I had no idea they even existed, thanks for sharing!!
Slightly off topic, but I bought a Lightweight Gauze blanket from Brave Souls and love it so much for Florida on days I feel bad but it's 90 out.
I made my own weighted blanket. Was way cheaper and so worth how tough it was to sew in the pellets.
I'm wondering if this would help my MS symptoms at night.
What is the actual use for 1 or just different reasons for everyone?
Tge weighted blanket was being weighted by harlow lol
You should do an apartment tour or a day in the life so what you do in a typical day with a feeding tube and port.
wow that blanket is beautiful! I am glad you love it :D
A soft full size weighted blanket sounds amazing.
I’m a rough sleeper. All my life I’ve been a stomach sleeper, does this poundage of weighted blankets allow you to move underneath it?!?
What are the measurements for your blanket?
I have a small blanket that is similar! Mine is the same pattern, but purple and grey, with purple dot minky on the back, and a light purple silk trim. Mine is not weighted though, I got it because of the dot minky for sensory input.
After watching your review I thought the weighted blanket could help me , so I went on their website. I have to sleep sitting up because of my back so I thought a twin would be a good size but there is no way I can afford even a twin size. I am on disability and after bills are paid there is very little left. $300.00 so I will have to do without is alot of money especially to me so I will have to do without. Glad you got yours and it is helping you
Possibly you could contact the company and they could help you out with a price or payment plan? Best of luck to you.
I am going to have to save up to get one of these. They are very price and I am on limited income now that I can no longer work. I have the same issue with my sleeping I turn over about every 10 to 15 minutes at night and I wake up every time. Its awful to always feel sleep deprived.
I have a weighted blanket! Awesome for naps and restless legs. 👍
Why must weighted blankets be so dang expensive? I feel as if taking rocks and putting them in a fitted sheet would be cheaper. 300 is like, my whole paycheck.
I have seen videos of people making their own with ziplock baggies of sand, a lot of duct tape, and a cloth cover.
trinthetrex There are sewing studios that make affordable weighted blankets for all budgets. It’s a matter of finding them. 😉😉😉
I've been hesitant to try one because I dislocate joints so often in my sleep.
My mom just got me one. Before I got it I was sleeping 14 hours a night and now I sleep a lot less. It is awesome.
This is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing this.
Jaquie, what size is your lap pad? Curious minds would like to know.
Lizzie Ann Yup.
it is much cheaper to make yourself if you have experience in sewing :)
I got one for my birthday, I've been falling asleep faster and my dreams are calmed down a lot since using the blanket. It's really soothing thing to sleep with.
Thanks for all of your advice!
But how does it effect EDS?
