    Keeping your batterie between 20-80% is the best way to enhance battery life. Sometimes my battery get's below 20% and I charge it to 100% when I am traveling because I need more than 60% of the capacity, but when I am on my desk I always keep it between 20-80%. There are apps like Al Dente which allow to set charging limits, so even if you MacBook is plugged in all the time it will stay at 80%. I just got about 100 charging cycles in 5 month of everyday use and the battery is still at 99% capacity.

    I've had my MBP 16 Pro 1tb 16gig for over 3months....really happy with it. Its great to have a mobile powerhouse machine on the go. I have been working for a clothing company where I have been using my machine for their content. So its been pretty sufficient.
    I've not noticed the fans ramping when exporting etc...but that maybe because I have been using 3rd party software called Macs Fan control. Where I manually set my fans to 2500RPM for idle and then when I am exporting I would push them up to full blast which is the setting name.
    I did find that the screen panel has this film over over it. So if stuff is sitting inbetween the keys and the screen you are most like going to have tiny indents on your MBP screen. So I put a piece of cloth in between to protect from any further lose whatever that magically gets there.
    Lastly I added one of those protective plastic shells which clips on the top and bottom of the MBP. Just cause I'm anal about keeping the machine in mint condition for as long as possible.

    I got the m1 max 16 inch after watching 1000 reviews saying it was a futuristic spaceship, I started doing as much of everything at once and the fans kicked in not that long afterwards. App launch time takes a few bounces before it starts up, so it's not like a light switched like so many people said without a doubt. Also, I saw a lot of people (myself included) having a problem with the speakers crackling as if the computer is choking, when there is cpu of gpu intensive tasks. I can't help but be bummed out, cause I had to wait 4 months for it to arrive and did nothing but watch reviews on it and people kept insisting that it was absolutely perfect time and time again

    • @lilafromyoutube
      @lilafromyoutube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow that’s bad! Sorry to hear that. Could it be that you got a faulty one? My speakers haven’t crackled once. I think that for a laptop it’s really powerful, but it’s not perfect. Is it possible fo return it?

    • @SuperFilmregisseur
      @SuperFilmregisseur 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lilafromyoutube well, the speakers are fantastic of course, but when for example I'm loading an after effects ram heavy timeline and playing spotify or youtube or movie or anything with volume, speakers start to crack every 10-20 seconds as if it's telling me to not lay such a heavy load upon it or it can't keep up. There's a youtube video with Beethoven playing on the m1 max where it's crackling and TONS of comments all say the same thing. I'm afraid it was a big batch of factory faults released into the world :( I got it 2 months ago, and there is a 1 year warranty by default, so I might be able to return it..

    Hi, I like the 9 month real life review a lot. I recognize most of your observations. I bought the 16 inch M1 Max 32 Gb, with 2 TB storage. Didn’t go for the 14 inch because that model is throttling back too much with the higher end chips. Plus I love the screen of the 16 inch plus the speakers of 16 inch are better as well. What do I regret? I should have gone for the 64 Gb version. My bad

    Hey Lila, have you ever worked on the same project / transfered projects between your Macbook and PC systems using an external SSD? If so, how was your experience? I'm considering picking up a Macbook Pro sometime in the future so that I can edit on the go because of their durability and efficiency vs Windows Laptops, and then use my PC that I keep for gaming as well, to edit at home since I have a strong build already.

    Got the same MBP, M1 Max w/64, 2TB. Took almost two months to arrive... well worth the wait! It replaces a Mac Mini late-2012, so obviously a continental leap forward. My work is mostly print-related (labels, manuals, direct-mail) so it's technically more muscle than actually needed, but I want this to last 10 years like its predecessor. It's already paid for itself in the first month, the sticker-shock wore off quick. The only issue I have noticed is the trackpad not immediately responding when opening up to start working (usually out on the road). I use a mouse with it anyway. Even though the 16" screen is awesome on the road and fits everything for the most part, I use a 4K 32" at home; the MBP is capable of powering more if I had the deskspace. Very happy with this machine.

    • @lilafromyoutube
      @lilafromyoutube  ปีที่แล้ว

      oh interesting, i haven't noticed the (un)responsiveness of the trackpad. I'll pay attention to it to see if it's happening on my laptop too. I'm glad you made the right decision! I honestly forget i'm working on just a laptop when i have it hooked up to my monitor

    • @vincentwilliams363
      @vincentwilliams363 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lilafromyoutube I think I figured out what the issue was ... I have a Magic Mouse in my carry bag that I use only when out on the road. It was left on, and in the bag, the mouse button was pushed down by the sides of the bag itself, so the trackpad wasn't responding to ME because it was responding to the mouse in the bag instead. :P

      @@lilafromyoutube It's limited, but fine as a small powerhouse. I have got a big 4k monitor in the office for when I get back and a lovely little USB C adaptor that a certain awesome youtuber gave me :-D which connects them. I have a USB colour calibrator so the monitors are all pretty close for colour grading. I like the fact that I can use the big monitor to have all the editing stuff open and then use the MacBook LCD as a full screen preview window. It's early days, as have not touched a Mac since 2013, and run a PC IT support business so going with a Mac is totally unprecedented, but I have to say so far I really like it.

    3 times in 9 months getting a memory leak doesn’t sound too bad. An annoyance of course. I have the 14 inch M1 Pro with 32GB of Ram and I’ve had zero issues with the computer. I hear so many complaints about Premiere. Wondering is it really Premiere or Plugins that people are using that cause the issues. Then again I’m not using 10bit video. I shouldn’t say I have zero issues, sometimes when I layer in GoPro footage I have to scale down the video playback quality.

I don't really use a lot of plugins so when premiere is slow, it's def premiere and not plugins. Because of Apples new chip architecture Apple Macs do have bad compatibility when it comes to CAD design like Solid works and Creo. Even with parallels you wont get those programs running. There are alternatives like Fusion 360 though.
    I’ve had a windows for a few years to use certain CAD programs, so don’t call me an apple fag, but I will pick my mac pro always unless I don’t have a choice. All in all (in my opinion) an amazing machine.

      According to your experience, do o you think it's still worth getting a MBP M1 max now?

      @@merrh8819 From what I've seen now, the new MBP M2 max does not boast the performance boost which would justify paying multiple thousand more for it. So if you're talking about getting a used MBP M1 max, that would in my opinion be the way to go. My MBP M1 max has still had no problem with anything I've thrown at it to this day. It will also most likely have no problem for a long time.

    I would say you didn't even need it to begin with. If you are not a apple only fan, you don't need mac anyways. I will unless i have to for work never go apple. Don't need it, don't see a use for it. Also definitly not for that price tag

      Well that is a statement from people not sure what they are talking about. I had adell xps 15 9510 i9 came with 1tb of ssd and 16gb ram. That was £2700 to start with. By the time I upgraded it to 2x 2tb of ssd and 64 gb of ram it almost cost as much as the pro max 16 with 64gb of ram and 4tb of ssd. This laptop broke down totally in Aigust. 6 months. Dell. Got into service waited over a month to get it back, after a week broken. Again. For over 4000. Thanks but no thanks. Not anymore. Fans are loud as hell, laptop is burning hot, and I used it for mainly photo editing, nothing demanding less than 100 hours. Looking at all these reviews seems like the pro max is waaaay better investment long or short term, no matter what with only a bit of extra cash on top.
