I've tried this hack on the weeds around our house - between sidewalk cracks, in the carport, etc. - and our weeds just laugh at us and continue to thrive. Our weeds are mutants, I swear.
I've been using this since our city banned herbicides. Works great. Some ornery weeds need a couple of applications to show em who's boss but eventurally they give in. Best when done on a hot sunny day with no chance of rain to wash it away in the next couple of days.
I use coarse salt. Sprinkle on weeds and walk away. Yes, they do come back eventually but at different places. Then I do a redo. Good for people with a bad back.
I can confirm vinegar and salt is an effective weedkiller. It works by breaming down the thin wax layer of the green leaves that keep their moisture from being evaporated. Without this protecting the plant will die from dryout. You could use it without salt also if you work near other plants you want to care for. Vinegar will evaporate similar to water after a while and peave nonremnants, while salt sticks around in the soil for a long time. This could be good or bad depending on the scenario. One important ingredient not mentioned is that you should add a drop or two of any dish detergent. The function is that it will break surface tension and not roll off waxy leaves as easily. Becaus the solution has longer contact time it will work considerably better. An ouche of prevention is worth a pound of cure though. If you find weeds in places wherenyou dont want anything to grow then you need to remove the dirt there and fill any cracks ect. Otherwise new weeds will just keep taking root again and again. A good geotextile js good protection for larger areas - preventing weed roots from penetrating so that the place becomes unviable for plant growth.
I used malathion on all the pathways, nook and crannies of my parents house. There were trail of ants on the cupboard, entrance to patio doors, etc. I used the 2 gal pump sprayer. I wish I knew this then, As for weeds, I spread baking soda onto the crevices, then I have a pump spray filled with 1:1 ratio of 30% vinegar (Home Depot) and water. Salt is cheaper than baking soda.
Why do you add salt to vinegar? Vinegar is acidic? Salt is neutral. What kind of salt are you using? There are several kinds of salt? Do you use acidic salt or alkaline salt?
Only the first one is against weeds. Then a couple against ants. Finally one against ticks. And since ants keep ticks out, it might not be smart to get rid of all of your ants in the first place.
The soil and quality of grass 🌱 treatment been taken on grass. I seen amazing in this never seen before. Called well loved grass laid not the rubbish they sell you include soil all chemicals. Yep! Vegies fruit in danger.
Obviously this was not meant for people who live in the tropical regions of the world , so far this year i have received 4.2 mts rain so i don't think your idea will work, sorry 😂😂😂

They must be. I used it alongside my walk and by the end of the day they had died. It was also a very warm day when I did it.

The weeds gave me the two finger salute.

With the weeds, they need to be pulled or will come back just as strong in a month
They are then pulled out once they dry out. This also gets to the root of the weed giving a decent elimination of this and future regrowth.
Also use this treatment before the weeds goes to seed.
Weeds lives matter…😊

Not in my yard they didn't.
Thanks for the tips.
Vinegar bleach pool salt and concentrated dishwashing liquid . Works all the time.
Doesn't sound like working if you have to use them all the time.
Amazingly effective at practically no cost !
Thank you for sharing this information, very helpful.✅

The salt is bad for the soil
Straight vinegar and salt for weeds. With dishwashing soap.

She. would mean sodium chloride - normal table salt, which has a ph of 7 = neutral.

What is Formic acid?
I saw more than "just a drop" it looked like coating completely to me
nope, It will harm weeds, make them wilt....but doesn't kill'em. They recover and you would have to keep doing it over and over
You will still need to pull the weeds.. Be sure to mind your plants and grass.
Coffee filter paper works as well as gauze.
If that doesn't work, put it on your fish and chips.
😆
Boiling water works for me 🎉
Small area will be ok.
Straight vinegar works best
Thanks for posting.
What about getting rid of rats and mice?

How can you get rid of slugs and snails ?
In plants, i put crushed egg shells in the plant...
They are attracted to a dish of beer - and literally drown themselves in it 🍻

Tnx for sharing
it doesnt work
All you have to do is...add unobtainium to water.
This only kills the leaves. As soon as the leaves are brown and dead - it grows back.

Been there and done it and doesn’t work!!!!! Don’t waste $$$$
