Love that color. It brings me back memories when I bought my Honda CRX SI 1991 back in 2001 and I had it paint this exact color! It was midnight blue from BMW… man this car gave me tickets 😅🤦🏻♂️
I had a Cav GSI, albeit in Matchbox form. It was my go to getaway car when staging bank jobs. I like what you’ve done here, the touring car stance is spot on.
It's uncanny how closely this resembles the Saab 9000 Turbo casted in 1987 which has always been my personal favorite Matchbox SINCE 1988 when I got it as an 8yo... Even the color is a close match. Cool casting, we of course didn't get that one here across the pond. Well done! I was one of the few kids who never like Hot Wheels. Matchbox or nah.
One of my favorite castings, favorite wheels and favorite jobs you’ve done, Rob. Always a pleasure to relax to your videos. David (from Trussville, Alabama)
This is very interesting... We had these in South Africa.. But they were sols as the OPEL MONZA if I am not mistaken. Which looked very much like the Lotus Carlton . Polishing up the car is always my favourite bit of clean up.. Getting it to that shiny metal finish is always so satisfying.
Opel Vectra of this generation is still a common car here in Serbia. Worth around 600-850€ and used by working class folks as a daily driven beater until it breaks down and fixing it costs more than it is worth.
For a toy car, Matchbox have nailed it again with terrific accurate detail on this Cavalier. Great looking resto, just one thing missing Rob, could you have painted in the lower front fog lamps? Back in 2000, we owned a 1993 Cav GLS 2.0i in glacier white. We had it for 6 years, loved it.
Fantastic job!! Amazing work!! The only Vauxhall Cavalier that exists in 1/59 scale as well. Oxford Diecast make a mk2 Cavalier in 1/76 scale which is also a really nice looking model and Herpa made the liftback version of the Cavalier and sedan/saloon in 1/87 scale. I think Gama made a Cavalier in 1/43 scale.
I got this one. My reason for hanging on to it all these years is kind of silly. It always reminded me of the car that the Michael and Kimberly character are riding in when they have their car crash in the Melrose Place primetime soap opera errr..... I mean show😁
I own a Chevrolet Monza 1986 S/R 2 door hatchback, which is the equivalent of Vauxhall's Cavalier from 1986. Only in Brazil we had the 2 door hatchback body option...
I wish they made the cav mk2 Sri, same car my dad drove through thr 90's and early 2000', had a massive catback on it was stolen several times, very big same that it most likely no longer exists
Ah, a tale of the classic 'Boy Racer'. Tearing about, and making a racket. (Good fun, though, I'll bet). Anyone out there know which 1983 movie I borrowed those last two lines from? No primer in Poundland, again, Rob. 🤔 😆😆😆 Very tasty result there. Nice one. Have you ever thought about doing a custom, with a nice paint job, and wheels, on an older casting, like the Lesney #33 Ford Zephyr 4? I reckon that would be cool.
Nice outcome Rob. Nice colour. I'm fully vaccinated with AZ since June. I hope you can me and a few other builders in December for an Ashes build off England v Australia. Any car any size Cheers Michael
Looks great Rob, incidentally Nick from Nick's Toy Garage is back online and has responded to comments on his channel and will be posting again in the future as he is recording four videos at the moment.
Reminds me of Westminster blue. That was sort of a purple blue when polished up I had 4 Cavaliers with my last one also an 8v diplomat in diamond black metallic. Loved that car as much as the tin rot did lol. Very rare cars nowadays (V6 diplomat is in single figures). Also assisted running a Cav mk3 website back in the day too. Never did own a red top or gsi in the end either ☹️
Fantastic job here.. Wow.. How did you get those lights so precise... I always struggle with them and make mine look like a 3 year old went to work on them with a crayon.
I love this casting. One of my favorites.
Classic matchbox custom Vauxhall cavalier 1990
Great job on the matchbox cavalier looks Awesome. On this model is the prefect example of cutting out the sunroof to see the inside from the top.
😍😍😍😍 I bought 3 of these as a kid, my absolute favourite matchbox car of all time. And I’m a Ford man🤣
I loved the unique look of the mk1 Cavalier which was also used on the Chevette and Forenza
A pity Matchbox never released those cars
Very nice. That reminds me of my bicycle I had as a teenager. It was a deep blue that looked black at a distance.
Love that color. It brings me back memories when I bought my Honda CRX SI 1991 back in 2001 and I had it paint this exact color! It was midnight blue from BMW… man this car gave me tickets 😅🤦🏻♂️

Great job Rob and here in the United States the Cavalier was a Chevrolet, and the Pontiac version was a Sunfire.
But was it very different to the UK Vauxhall Cavalier?
Hey Rob, this by far my favourite one, like you it takes me back to you youth. You have done an amazing job 👏 keep up the good work 👍👍👍
The GSi and 4x4 Turbo are definite classics now. 👌
Very nice Vectra, great colour 😎
Not many real ones around anymore, because those cars liked to rot...

Cool car. Like the dark blue and the stance.
Looking forward to more videos

Hi Rob,nice looking car,the wheels are smart against the dark blue paintwork,I remember these back in the day.
That color is just right, well done.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your automotive past, Rob! Yes, I got my jabs as soon as I could. 👍
Very nice work, Rob. Great color choice!
Another awesome job. I have one to do so this is some inspiration. My family all have our shots.
Great work!!, brillant color and amazing tires! ! 😲 👍
She's a beaut all right. Wish some of the models you get in Europe were available in NA.
Hope all is well Rob. Missing your videos. You do amazing work
Just Subbed.
Greetings from A South African who's Emigrated to Scotland. 😎🇿🇦🏴😁🏁
Beautiful job with great detail
Love the color. Fits the body style. Car reminds me of a Saab 900 a little bit.
Very nice work , wheels look great , paint is awesome . NICEEEEEEEE....
Miss you Rob... And the hotdog jar 😂
Slick transformation Rob. And thanks for sharing your story on owning the car.
Nice build and paint job 👍👍
Beautiful, that color reminds me of RUSTOLEOMS Galaxy Blue, it's a color shift spray paint from blue to purple
Nice wheels. Looks a lot better now is lower. Great choice of color too
wow that looks really really nice
Awesome looking car 👍
Wonderful job.👍🚗
Great job Rob 👌
ahhhh the first restoration I ever did was this very model. My mom and dad both had cavaliers F reg red one and a L reg white one, great motors

Great color!!
Beautiful little car, and (almost) 100% paint removal!
I got this one. My reason for hanging on to it all these years is kind of silly. It always reminded me of the car that the Michael and Kimberly character are riding in when they have their car crash in the Melrose Place primetime soap opera errr..... I mean show😁
Wonderful to have one of these on a Saturday! Great job mate!
I own a Chevrolet Monza 1986 S/R 2 door hatchback, which is the equivalent of Vauxhall's Cavalier from 1986. Only in Brazil we had the 2 door hatchback body option...
Man that Vauxhall Cavalier or Opel Vectra in other markets looks so good Rob! Good job Rob
I really like that color on it. those wheels set it off. nice job
My 1991 Ford Taurus station wagon is like that. From a distance it looks dark gray. Once you get up close, you’ll see it’s a bluish gray
This looks great. I would totally drive this! 🙂 Yessir, I have been fully vaccinated for a while now. I am glad that you are, too!
Awesome custom!
I've been double dipped Rob so fingers crossed for the end of the C word. Great work as per usual mate. A casting I've not seen before.
Looks awesome rob.👍
Wow amazing custom epic
Spot on! It’s brilliant!
kind of midnite blue. Brilliant colour. Getting 2nd jab next week. South Aus is behind as usual.
I wish they made the cav mk2 Sri, same car my dad drove through thr 90's and early 2000', had a massive catback on it was stolen several times, very big same that it most likely no longer exists

Very impressive

Love the colour Rob. Shame about that one wee flake of paint.😁
Reminds me of Westminster blue. That was sort of a purple blue when polished up

They stopped building Cavaliers in late 95. I loved them. Hated the Vectra replacement.
Awesome custom.
This is my favourite custom
i wish there was a Matchbox Opel Manta 400
Nice job
Awesome
Muy buena customizacion de este Vauxhall Cavalier, respetos desde Venezuela.💯🤜🔥🤛👍
awesome job rob i got both my vaccine shots
Great work on this one Rob! :) And I love the wheel set you chose for it! :)
11:02 that little moth must have been as high as a kite after that spraying down
Love the car, love the color! Just love the build tbh it’s different!!!
I owned 2 cavaliers an 02 and 04 I liked the 04 because it was a manual shift I miss it. They were both white and made by Chevy.
We're did you go, Rob!!! I really miss your videos!!!!
Great paint job but the tires which are beautiful are a bit oversized
ah you had one of these back in 2002? what happened to it? did you sold it? scrapped it?
Fantastic job here.. Wow.. How did you get those lights so precise... I always struggle with them and make mine look like a 3 year old went to work on them with a crayon.
Vauxhall Calviner 2.2 SRi pick of the range
Looks good!!
Paid 200 quid for my Chavalier was so rusty that the handbreak was only attached by the carpet. Sold it for parts in the end.
Quite diff. from Opel Omega. That one is Holden.
That’s awesome
Thumbs up 👍
It reminds me of the cavalier you sold me once. Lol
Wuaooo very nice good. 👍
Put a rear wing on it !
In that color, you made it look like a Lotus Carlton ! 🤔
Sharp!
Rob, are you ok buddy? Haven't seen a sign of life in a while.
Where have you disappeared to?
😺👍
I'm currently close of being vaccinated with the second round of astraZ. There's no third vaccine here yet.
I always confuse that model with the saab 9000. that came in the same colour
fully vaxed
Double jabbed, going for my annual flu jab in the morning.
You sound different somehow...?🤔
I always lube my peace before I taped that hole
C word 🤣
