My eyes are blurry with tears as I'm seeing and liking your comment. This song most of all hits me the hardest such a deep song perfect arrangement and with this man's fantastic enhancements just exemplary!
Late Summer / early fall of '71, I 1st heard this--------hitch hiking to LA, from Denver, while riding with a trucker------we heard it on KOMA in Oklahoma City -------------& I was just spell-bound .-----------Karen had the most effortless, perfect, Alto / Contralto voice, I've ever heard. And this song just stayed with me------aching-----heartbreaking --------gorgeous. ---------An Angel among us.-------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
agreed. THEE ultimate female "crooner" the EPITOME OF the singer who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU, ... purest, richest, most moving, intimate, haunting, beautiful, natural, meaningful female voice i have and will ever hear.. add in her great ability of phrasing and telling the story of the song and her incredible PERFECT diction and enunciation for every syllable to every word to every song she ever sang, makes her in my opinion the greatest female singer of love and romance songs ever... looking for love, finding love and losing love....
I totally agree - such depth with headphones. Remember listening to ABBA through headphones and I was floating away!! The Carpenters music and vocals ( such a great symphony behind them) takes me away!!
Wow!! It's Absolutely Beautiful.. Ken, thank you for sharing this wonderful " New Enhanced Version" As always you are Awesome. keep it coming.... Bobbie
The first single of theirs I bought - and maybe still my favorite of their many hits. I'm not sure but that might be The Wrecking Crew behind them - they were on a few of the recordings. Every time I hear this I think of a beautiful, long-haired "southern belle" that I briefly dated in early '71. She was a sexy charmer.
I reluctantly listened to this one and was pleasantly surprised. You kept it original but made it even more crisp. Hard to improve on perfection but you did it here! : )
Kenn, as always : my thanks to you ! ---------The Summer of '71, THIS was the one that told me Richard was a genius, & Karen's voice, was 4-Ever, & Ever. ----------------OMG, what a beautiful voice, this angel had. ------------------------------Wolfsky9, 73 y/o
This one seems a bit hot in presence 4K to 6K but otherwise, the separation is real nice. You do great work. Your Hollies and ONJ ones are my favorites of your work. Thank you!
I agree. When Richard was mixing this track, he musta been high for missing her low end. Always when Karen, one of the most natural vocalist of the past 75 years goes from a middle to a low end, the middle is obvious. When Richard brings in the overdubs, that is where he really missed the lows. JMO.
The instruments certainly sound crisper, but it seems that in your attempt to strip some of the bass out, you removed the rich tonal quality of the low end of Karen's voice. It loses a little bit of that emotive feel to the song, IMO, which is what really draws the listener in.
Karen was beautiful------------why was it not enough ???? ---------Always comparing herself to Michelle Philips ------so unfair -----& destructive. -------Just too ---too sad. ---------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
This is a magnificent enhanced version of Superstar. Her voice is not only angelic but ethereal. She is sorely missed.
I actually get tears in my eyes when I hear the Voice of this Angel
@TERRY OWENS - Me, too! I cried for a week when she died. Such a wonderful talent gone way too soon....
My eyes are blurry with tears as I'm seeing and liking your comment. This song most of all hits me the hardest such a deep song perfect arrangement and with this man's fantastic enhancements just exemplary!
She did this recording in ONE TAKE! Incredible!
She used her white supremacist privileged powers!
She wanted to sing it again but they said, you don't have to, it's fine.
Richard Carpenter is an absolute studio wizard. Amazing.
Karen had the most beautiful, purest, clear voice.

Just absolutely beautiful! No other voice will ever outdo Karen.
"Superstar" was the 1st Carpenters' song I've ever heard. I had just migrated to the US in October 1971...it stills gives me goose bumps.
This has to be in the top 10 best liked songs of all time. Its definitely my favorite "easy listening" song by far.
Best female voice EVER.
bobbybuzmeg I shed a tear whenever I hear this song. Karen sounds sad.

I agree
Oh my gosh that voice. Words can't express how good it is....
The best version and best song from the Carpenters, hands down!
Do yourselves a favor, listen to this using a good set of headphones.
Yes ! Headphonbes male ALL the difference with Kenn's enhanced versions. --------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
yes, doing that right now. sounds super!
I totally agree - such depth with headphones. Remember listening to ABBA through headphones and I was floating away!! The Carpenters music and vocals ( such a great symphony behind them) takes me away!!
I’m deaf in one ear. Sure wish I could🥲.
Wow!! It's Absolutely Beautiful.. Ken, thank you for sharing this wonderful " New Enhanced Version" As always you are Awesome. keep it coming.... Bobbie
Sounds like the version in The Singles 1969 - 1973. Superb !
The A & M label artists were always so well produced.. such clarity .. Alpert & Moss were perfectionists ..
Richard also knew his craft so well.

Another huge Carpenter's hit. You did a very nice job with the remix, Kenn. EDB
Thank you so much for all your hard work in bringing all these classic songs back to life
Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew are tearing this song up!
I reluctantly listened to this one and was pleasantly surprised. You kept it original but made it even more crisp. Hard to improve on perfection but you did it here! : )
*Amaizing voice, incredible song, It reminded me a part of the melody The World Is not enough by Garbage*
😍😍😍 what a beautiful Karen’s voice
Kern's finest vocal -----& their finest effort---EVER. Brilliant. ------Late summer/ fall of '71. --------Thank-you again, Kenn . ----------------WolfSky9
Wolfsky9 I wish I could upvote this comment 10 times !
This is fantastic. Thanks.
Ken - your remixes are amazing....one of my favourite Carpenters hits. Thanks.
Same here!

Beautiful!
So hauntingly and beautiful. Just love it.
I'm a Joe Osborn (BASS) fan but what you did puts Karen so out front...nice work.
Thanks for this version - I love audio equipment and what it can do!!
Beautiful
Can't mistake the great bass maestro Joe Osborne's playing, by the way he gave the Carpenters their big break and played on all their hits.
Nice redo of this song to make the brass, strings and hi-hat come through nice and clear, sir!
And a GREAT harp exit!
Taking the bass down a bit makes such a difference. Amazing.
Thanks for posting..I can hear so much more detail with my headphones than with other posts of this
Just discovered your work. Amazing. Your ONJ and ABBA mixes are GREAT!
Those cymbals sounds incredible
SOUNDS GREAT i LOVE THIS SONG- SHE IS TRULY MISSED
I have always been disappointed by the sound that A&M did on Karen's voice. This makes it so clear and lifelike. Thank you!
I own the super audio cd of their greatest hits, and it just sounds incredible when you use that format
My favorite Carpenter's song
Who can sing like this now...no one!
This one seems a bit hot in presence 4K to 6K but otherwise, the separation is real nice. You do great work. Your Hollies and ONJ ones are my favorites of your work. Thank you!
She has the voice that you have to hear 😭 again
What a beautiful voice. Gone way to soon
Yes, alas (((
The original recording of this is great but kudos on the enhancements.
So beautiful. Would love to hear you enhance For All We Know and Goodbye to Love.
Awesome job. Can you do rainy days and Mondays and yesterday once more? Even only just begun that would be great
I love this song and I truly miss Karen.one of my favorite groups, The Carpenters
heaven
no other voice like karens..so heartfelt..ty
Amazing job!
Mum and dad's favourite 8 track
Fantastic job Ken not the easiest of bands to enhance as there recordings were pitch perfect..but you've nailed it good job.
❤️
70s perfection...
Thank you Leon Russell for writing this song .
Probably their best recording.
thhis version really make me sad over our lost of karen
Better than the Philharmonic Orchestra remix!
Love this song. The last note always sounds foreboding to me for some reason.
Very nice job !!
Good job, MEC, Karen's voice is allowed to be heard a lot better in your version.
Karen's voice here, is as good as it gets--period. (Hal Blaine drums)
Kenn ! -----Please------as soon as you have a website ot whatever itt akes, i'll be honored to contribute !------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
No one can top. Karen Carpenter
"Long ago and oh so far away" means the same as "at another point in space/time."
The original title was: _Pumped and Dumped_
jim black's favorite all time song/fort walton beach fl
i agree i really do
She had a great voice, it's a shame she had to go that way.
yes headphone listening tune.
Can you do a whole album... 😁 Ticket To Ride...
Could you please do "Only Yesterday"?
Do you have any idea how many requests I get? I will consider more Carpenters!Kenn
I wish you could change every note of the Carpenter's background music. It was always produced for ten year olds. Too much oboe! This was excellent.
Good job but I don't think you can overload Joe Osborn's bass lines.
ok, we only have time for one take. no problem.
They are officially known as Carpenters. Not THE Carpenters. I so wish everyone would get it right.
If I had one criticism here - and it's minor - some of the "bottom" in Karen's voice is missing. And that's her sweet spot.
I agree. When Richard was mixing this track, he musta been high for missing her low end. Always when Karen, one of the most natural vocalist of the past 75 years goes from a middle to a low end, the middle is obvious. When Richard brings in the overdubs, that is where he really missed the lows. JMO.
First off, that's completely uncalled for. Secondly, he's right.
Tommy Boy
The instruments certainly sound crisper, but it seems that in your attempt to strip some of the bass out, you removed the rich tonal quality of the low end of Karen's voice. It loses a little bit of that emotive feel to the song, IMO, which is what really draws the listener in.
If you really want to hear an improvement of this song, listen the The Motown Boy's remix. This one is crap. Lost all the warmth of the original.
i like analog sound better more softer and natural i dont like this version
Karen was beautiful------------why was it not enough ???? ---------Always comparing herself to Michelle Philips ------so unfair -----& destructive. -------Just too ---too sad. ---------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
