Well put Carmine, binging on Roxy right now, we were born at the right time, I love the Dylanesque period but truth is Bryan Ferry leads the competition from the early 70's and this coming from a Stones fanatic ☘️
I am blessed to see them in 2 Weeks in Austin, TX. I fly there from Florida as they do only have 10 concerts in the USA and if one does not catch them now, it is done. I hope however to stills see Bryan solo for a few more years considering he is 77 this month (on my wife's birthday funny enough) These guys brought something completely new in the 70ties, much like Bowie and I put them in the same league, Ferry is the coolest cat on the block, always has been always will.
For someone who has been involved in sound production (but appreciates overall production) and have lived long enough to see plenty of light and dark at 64 and experienced my own "Out of the Blue" awakening on a more modest level, this just bought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye at the same time... well deserved Bryan and all collaborators over half a century of creating marvellous music and professionally produced creative art with invigorating stage presence from all on stage...the very essence of style with a smile. To you all "Don't Stop The Dance"
my out of the blue experience..was an HEROIN/coke OD in 82 playing this song!.today at 64 still kickin it..thank you bryan ..eddy .. phil..and company!
Eddie Jobson brought his musical genius to Roxy at the age of only 18. He is now considered one of the top musicians in the world (having also been right-hand man to Frank Zappa and co-founder of UK). Great to see him recognized for his earliest work with Roxy Music, including his classic violin solo on 'Out of the Blue.'
Fantastic! For me, Eddie Jobson’s solo was always the highlight of Out Of The Blue apart from Mr Ferry’s thought provoking lyrics. So great to see it played here by the master himself and with all the panache of the studio version. 🤩
Great to see Chris Spedding on stage with the band. Awesome violin solo by Eddie Jobson. Roxy Music are absolutely deserving of the honor. Probably the most influential band in the world. Always years ahead of their time making alternative new wave music before there was a genre by that name. Bryan Ferry is the King of Cool and the classiest man alive.
So glad they played one of their songs with that ominous almost vampiric tone. Very hard to think of anything else with that oozing combination of power and style. Hypnotic and revitalising.
For those wondering, Eno and Thompson weren't able to attend according to Manzanera, who said he reached out to both to see if they would come. Thompson has basically retired due to his arthritis and Eno for environmental reasons could not attend due to a carbon footprint pledge not to fly for year. Both were excited to be inducted, nonetheless.
Paul Thompson is still performing as a member of Lindisfarne. I seem to recall that he was unable to attend the ceremony due to his commitments with them.
Edwin jobson Phil manzanera Andy Mackay Paul Thompson Brian eno and of course the one and only the genius Bryan ferry there will never be another band like Roxy music ever they define music god bless them all I adore you guys

If only John Wetton had have been alive to be there and deliver his scrunching fuzzed out bass!!! Still great video and great to see Eddie Jobson involved.
The late ,great John Gustafson was the bass player on "Country Life". He was without doubt, the 2nd most famous bass player ever to come out of Liverpool! ( McCartney being the 1st, if course!)
The original recording of the bass was by the Late, Great John Gustafson who was from Liverpool.( He's responsible for that great bass on Love is the Drug also. A contemporary and friend of Paul McCartney from way back.
@@jamesbowen8960 John Wetton did a fantastic bass part to this song when he played with Roxy which was even busier than the original. On this version, it looks like Neil Jason playing bass, who played on the Flesh + Blood and Avalon albums and more recently joined the 2022 tour by Roxy Music.
Glad they made it into the R&R hall of fame. Yet so so sad to to see some of the originals now looking aged but glad to see that they are still acknowledged as original members. BTW is that Eddie Jobson on violin anyone?
Say Eddue live in 70s when he was a member of supergroup "UK " alongside Bill Bruford, Alan Holdsworh and John Wetton. Violin superb but his keyboard playing is astonishing. Look them up!
If you want a huge laugh ... just have a look at RRHOF inductees selected before Roxy Music. 2019?! Better late than never I guess. And Eddies violin solo is still a magical thing. Sorry Paul Thompson couldnt attend.
a very well informed & considered comment! ... and what happened on the original 2HB stayed on that 2HB, for nobody could either copy or take it further!
I don't know what key they were in, C I think looking at Phil, I used to play this in D to play the oboe riff on guitar and I think D was the original key, but Brian like us the rest of us oldies get a deeper register as we get older. But hey what a performance! Incidentally not my fav Roxy track, that is Pyjamarama. What I liked about Roxy was their weird hypnotic non-standard chord runs.

This is two-year-old comment but I’m replying to more recent one. Thompson is playing with them right now! Last two US nights in CA then a short stint in UK. No violin on the tour. Neither Jobson nor the wonderful musician, Lucy Wilkins, who played at Apollo in 2001. Manzanera is playing a lead guitar instead. But at least there are four of the main members there!
@@Manicprogressive1 Not only that but the bass player on the 2022 tour was Neil Jason, who never played live with the band in the 1970s or 1980s, but played on some songs on both the Flesh + Blood and Avalon albums!
Out of the Blue is one of my favourite Roxy songs, especially live.
Pure class! We'll never see another group like Roxy Music. Thanks Brian Ferry and all group members for the music and the memories.

Another band that admired Roxy Music was Duran Duran. But they didn't come close.

EDDIE PLAYING THE FAMOUS PERSPEX VIOLIN AGAIN...FANTASTIC
Roxy music for ever!
Out of the Blue- best live performance on Eddie’s incredible‘invisible’ violin.

All you cares
Now they seem
Oh so far away
All your fears
I fear I once shared
Now I know
There's a future
For all of us
Not so long ago
I was so scared
You seemed so sad
I could see
Through your twisted smile
So unsure
Always confused
Pale blue eyes
Gazing down
From your ivory tower
Through the haze
All broken and bruised
Then: out of the blue
Love came rushing in
Out of the sky
Came the sun
Out of left field
Came a lucky day
Out of the blue
No more pain
I don't mind
If it's only
A passing craze
Throwaway lines
Often ring true
If I were you
I would stay
For a little while
I you were me
Would you walk out
In style?
