19 here, I think this song is incredible for the almost self aware lyrics, “is there a heaven? I’d like to think so...” and the music itself is next level. The metaphors used, word choice, lyricism, and overall idea is very well put together, truly genius in my opinion. I actually haven’t listened to any other Roxy songs other than this one, and this ones just perfect for me. Listened to this a lot when I visited California at 18. Turning 20 in a couple days so this is a song that must be listened to and thought of. So as a young person, i think its interesting, good, and rather unique and niche. Sadly most kids my age wouldnt really agree, they’re too caught up in following a crowd than to go their own path. Some still respect it, and theyll keep the music alive.
Can't believe I'm seeing them next Monday at MSG for their 50th Anniversary - and the first time since 2001! First time I saw them was in Boston for Country Life, then Radio City for Avalon. Greatest, most original band in history. Long live ROXY MUSIC!!!
Legendary Gods of the music world. Loved them since I was 14 yrs old. 50 years a fan!! Seen them in concert in the early days of the 70s at Hammersmith Odeon and more recently in Birmingham! Saw Bryan solo at Hampton Court ten years ago! Each time - brilliant!!

Absolute legends! The spiritual forefathers of art rock, arty punk and early 80s new wave. Viva Roxy!
As much as I dig Roxy Music, I'd have to go with The Velvet Underground as being the forefathers of art rock.
Steely_Fran A great choice! Roxy's art-rock shadow is long and large, in any event. Arguably the greatest BRITISH art rock band.

I always believed Ferry could have been a phenomenal actor. This is a superb version.

Mate. No offense. But. Unlike movies, music is timeless.
This describes exactly how I feel.

Lyrics:
In every dream home a heartache
And every step I take
Takes me further from heaven
Is there a heaven?
I'd like to think so
Standards of living
They're rising daily
But home oh sweet home
It's only a saying
From bell push to faucet
In smart town apartment
The cottage is pretty
The main house a palace
Penthouse perfection
But what goes on
What to do there
Better pray there
Open plan living
Bungalow ranch style
All of it's comforts
Seem so essential
I bought you mail order
My plain wrapper baby
Your skin is like vinyl
The perfect companion
You float my new pool
De luxe and delightful
Inflatable doll
My role is to serve you
Disposable darling
Can't throw you away now
Immortal and life size
My breath is inside you
I'll dress you up daily
And keep you till death sighs
Inflatable doll
Lover ungrateful
I blew up your body
But you blew my mind
Oh those heartaches
Dreamhome heartaches

The first half is rather dull. The solo is what makes the song. Phil still played it perfectly on the “50th Anniversary Tour”.
