I just picked up an 89 W150 with way too much play in the steering wheel. Thank you for helping me get my rig fixed! Great video!

Got a 89 ramcharger that I’m putting a similar shaft on, was looking for a good video to explain how the shaft comes off the truck. Your video was very good and had great information. Thank you.

Great video , removing the roll pin on steering wheel side is key , if you don’t have an air driven tool I used a hammer drill and cut off the drill bit head , 3/16ths bit , came out instantly after trying to drive the pin out manually with hammer and punch

Hey Chad, great Video! I'm installing on a 08 6.7L Did you set the bottom spines all the way down the steering gear shaft splines, so it bottoms out or butts up against the gear box at the bottom of the shaft. I see some just put in on the first part of the shaft before the dip and file a flat spot, but it seems like it barely on the shaft by doing it that way. I also see one or two run it all the way down and just backing off a hair. and filling a flat spot on the spines on the bottom part. I don't really see anything on Borgenson site either way

I did put it down all the way and then pulled it back a bit

What’s the reasoning of re-using that spring? I’m doing mine right now and feel like it’s kinda sketchy that the spring could push the u-joint off the upper spindle- only that 1 lock holding it. Thanks for the great write up!

Yeah I went back later and removed it

Help! I can't get the cotter pin out of the top of the steering shaft for removal. What can I do since you can only punch from one side to push it through. Rusted on. Ideas??

Flood it with penetrating spray let it soak and try hitting it with an air hammer with a punch end

sometimes a part is to old and better to replace

I bought this shaft for my 06 mega cab. I removed it. Went back to a new stock shaft. The set screws kept loosening up on my and causing popping. Even with Loctite. Etc. 8” lift on 37s.

Thats the thing with these shafts they are a solid connection no cushioning from pot holes or rough street roads . If anything will be harder on gearbox the oem shafts are designed that way for a purpose.. manufacturers do spend alot of money in most of their designs specially steering . This shaft would cause alot of issues for manufacturers warranty repairs etc ..
