    Haven't really mentioned it before, but I appreciate the care you put in your animations and all the off-screen pixeling (ie. the perspective examples and the text).
    Really puts your videos a cut above.

    Lovely, I really like the jump from one house to a whole set of different houses built using the same style - creating whole set that works well together instead of a separate object :)

    • @BJGpixel
      @BJGpixel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thanks! Yeah it feels like a win-win; getting to reuse large parts of the design but also creating a cohesive set (like if this were used within a single town, for example) :D

    Damn nice work Brandon, you make it look so easy, very inspiring!!! These little top-down houses remind me fondly of my Pokémon playing childhood so much, I'd love to see a made-up Pokémon village or recreation in your style.

    Love the texturing on these, especially the way you break up the long plank shapes with other shades. Is there a specific technique you use to do these, or do you just add them in randomly?

    • @BJGpixel
      @BJGpixel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Thanks! The application is pretty random tbh, but a lot of times I'll try to keep an even distribution at the very least :)

    What a lovely look!! I loved the density of detail in the highlights & shadows with a limited palette, it was really nice to see a video really shine a spotlight on this style! 😎
    The different renderings looked gorgeous on the CRT too!! 😁✨

    I love all of your videos, and this is one of my favorite. This feels like an updated pokemon gameboy style (to me!) and it's very cute and fantasy filled. I'd love to see what you could do if you made a small town scene in this style, like how you make scenes in your other styles!

    Fantasy is a curious thing. I watched one minute and already imagined myself developing a Stardew-Valley-esque game... ^^

    the different angles of the side of the roof, because the front side of the house itself wasn't changed, look less like we're looking at it from different angles, but rather that we're looking at a shallower angled roof

    Wow that's amazing! Thanks for this tutorial! I wanted to ask you something, what is that technique of using grayscale and then applying a color overlay called? Thanks for the great videos

    • @BJGpixel
      @BJGpixel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Hmm I'm not sure I've ever heard a proper or common term for that workflow tbh, but perhaps the closest thing would be referring to it as the colour "value" - what we're doing with the greyscale work is setting up what the image contrast is gonna be. Hope that helps! I've got a video more about it here (if you haven't already seen): th-cam.com/video/PdXpUIATzO0/w-d-xo.html

    my only issue with all these houses is that there is an implied 2nd perspective that isn't being used, therefore making all 4 houses that you made look totally wrong to my eye. Mostly the bottom of the houses should not be a rectangle, but rather more like an upside-down trapezoid.
