It sure as heck is. Going from my Sub to this felt small at first and then when I got used to it - it just dissapears on wrist and is so light and comfortable. I have a large collection and I wear the Explorer 1 about 95% of the time it just works from the field to the office and everywhere in between. No date dial is utter perfection without the cyclops screwing it all up. The bracelet is utter perfection too.
I second that. The cyclops on pretty much any other RLX is just a nuclear design bomb. I do not like the date on a watch, as to me... I dont need it and I hate to set the date and the time, once I change between my watches (and most of them sure do have the date). I fully agree with this review, the only thing I would miss is a proper Micro-Adjustment. But maybe you dont want the utter perfection in one watch as one may have more than only one watch (the perfect one).
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess ……Personally this new Explorer wears slightly small, I own and wear the 39mm that was discontinued and might be the perfect Explorer for anyone with a 7” wrist or larger. When I wear a watch, I never take it off anyway unless I’m doing something that would damage the watch! The use of a date and cyclops on this simplistic time piece could easily be added as an alternative version. Personally I like the option, as I enjoy the other Rolex’s like GMT Master 2 sport watch that has these features.

Thanks for the great review. I have worn my Explorer exclusively for 17 years now. I dive with it, sail with it, and it has accompanied me all over the world, from as far south as Antartica to Fairbanks in the north. Looks very nice on the wrist at any formal event. An interesting note, perhaps, Ian Fleming wore an Explorer when typing the James Bond Novels. A number of 007 aficionados feel that the Explorer is the true watch of Bond and Flemings daughter has confirmed this. .

Wears so well and the sizing does take some time to get used to but it is a perfect watch in every way. It's comfort is unparalleled. The movement is fantastic. More accurate than my g shock over a month!
0:39 Rolex already sponsored British Himalayan expedition since 1933 and the name " Explorer " was patented on January 26, 1953, 4 months before the ninth British expedition conquered Mt Everest Chomolungma on May 29, 1953. Moreover SMITHS was the 2nd sponsor with the pre-production A409 wrist watch.
The 124270 is 99% perfect, just need to add the glide lock and maybe large hand set? But they might throw off the proportions. 36mm is the perfect size for the real “explorer”: key word is comfort. Funny to see so many people walking around with their oversized divers though never stepping into the water. My favorite daily for life.

@MusicMediaOutlets thats good for you. But if you watched the whole video, you should have heard the the guy refer to the games you have to play with and AD to get a watch. Thats what I was referring to

Practically every f-ing watch now is 39-42mm. Rolex makes *one* model in a classic size, and some people are complaining that too should've been supersized. Ridiculous. Great video. But .....this is a lady sized watch
😂 such a stupid comment
Too small...should have been 40-42. Otherwise perfect. Could be one watch collection.
hell no, a 42mm Explorer? it is perfect with it's original 36mm
They should have offered the 39mm AND 36mm in the Explorer. 36mm is just too small for many….. including myself. I tried one on recently and it simply looked comical.
@@johnprosser5035 I get that 39 is the sweet spot for many, but I think that it’s just because we got ourselves used to wearing bigger watches that many think a 36mm is too small for them…in the last century every man wore 36 and even 35 or 34mm models, no matter how big of a guy they were, they’d probably feel awkward wearing the watches many men wear today
Practically every f-ing watch now is 39-42mm. Rolex makes *one* model in a classic size, and some people are complaining that too should've been supersized. Ridiculous. I get that we live under the reign of the Burger King and Dairy Queen, but it's preposterous how the fat wristed are incapable of tolerating even a single model that doesn't cater to their corpulent lard arms. You literally have thousands of watches to choose from in your preferred dimensions.
@@Danielpi one of the most versatile Rolex watches should be offered in a variety of sizes. Not all can wear 36 and not all can wear 42... why restrict the choice? Look at the datejust with its many options. Also, yes, in case you haven’t noticed humans are becoming bigger, not only because of obesity but also because of better nutrition and improved leaving conditions.
Such an over rated watch
Agree, tried it on a few weeks ago and it looked tiny on my 6.5 wrist, felt cheap as well, I'll stick with my iwc mark 18 which looks better imo
It’s NOT. I have it and trust me, you’ll need a date on it.
I trust you. hehe
Tried one on…. Way to small and feel’s dainty!!! Had been on the wait list for the 39mm for 18 months before it was discontinued. The high polish is a scratch magnet….,Nowhere near the perfect watch…. Unfortunately
Incorrect
120 grams of steel around your wrist “dainty” 😂 all steel watches are scratch magnets lol
Collecting scratches is the point.
Well I ended up getting the new 40mm in June
It is if you’re a lady or if you’re a man with a girls wrist.
