- Hey guys, in this haircut tutorial I'm sharing with you one of the shortcuts I use for long layer haircuts. With this long layer haircut technique, I have been able to cut more than 20 clients in a day! Long layers are a staple in any hairstylists tool belt so I hope you guys find this long layer tutorial useful!

@@ashleyalhadeff I have! I do like the wet brush! I have actually purcahsed one of every model they make! haha I am a hair nerd, but I am currently testing the Raincry detangler, tangle teaser and knot Dr. each of which are performing fairly well at the moment.

Would love to see the sections. Love the idea of the 8-min HC and how you explain connecting the HC, but need to see it to really understand and be able to duplicate. Neat idea would be 2 videos: 1. A more in-depth tutorial, and 2. A video of you executing the HC in 8 min...?👍🏼
This was NOT helpful because the closeups didn't show the direction of the head or the orientation of the angles
Pandemic diaries: Watched this video 45 times and felt confident to try on myself at home. Splitted one more triangle section on each head-side to connect the layers created by the diamond section. Anyway, thanks! I loved the result 💙

Problem is, that most of the time when you start working with the angle the watcher can't see the whole model, so it's difficult to recognize the technique.

O.M.G where have you been all my life?! I feel like almost every time regardless of the stylist (expensive, cheap, and even licensed Sasoon...), I'm always asking if they can 'lighten up' the section that falls at my shoulder behind my ear! You got it perfect in 8 minutes. Getting perfect layers is a holy grail...and it seems the cue for the stylist who achieves them to suddenly move across the globe. 😂

This is a great tutorial!!! I understand everything except for the last part. When you take the part from the t section, and you bring the hair from the other side to match the side you cut already, using the side you cut already as a guide? If that makes sense? Lol!! Just making sure I’m following! Best and easiest tutorial yet!

Newer licensed stylist here. How do you make sure the layers in the back down to the occipital blend into the perimeter?
Thank you for this super helpful video! I will be sure to try it on my next long layered client! If they were wanting to cut about 2-3 inches of length would you cut the perimeter then do the layering or layering then perimeter for max efficiency?

Wow this is quick and it looks easy I don’t mind doing my hair my self, I did damage my hair since I bleach it and color it my self but I knew the risk and now it’s time to get it healthy and that means cutting it more
Hi, ur hair looks very similar in texture to mine before aging and bad health gave me some coarse greys and started getting super dry and frizzy, which I made worse by bleaching it to blend out the pigment loss and give me more of a beachy look. I spent so much money and time researching and trying dozens and dozens of recommended drugstore and high end products. I finally found the perfect products that have saved my hair. If u want me to tell u about my routine and products, just comment back. I'm not selling anything lol, just realized that's what it sounds like. I just went thru SO MUCH to finally figure it out. I've never had products that worked this well for me so I just want to share what I learned if u want the info so maybe it helps someone else.
@@potatopirate5557 yes please let me know, I’m starting a flexseed treatment hopefully it helps my hair . I do use my hair straightener everyday. So that makes it even worse

My hair is long at the bottom (till the shoulder blades, some longer), and short at the top (till the neck), and there's different length between top and bottom.
And I also have a thick bang, till the eyebrows.
I'd like to cut hair like in the video but I'm not sure if it's real? Would it look good with such different length?

This video would be awesome if it was zoomed out when you were cutting. It was hard to see exactly where you were pulling sections and cutting at because the camera wasn’t showing her entire face and head.

Thanks for the video!! If her hair is breaking, please use a pic or wide tooth comb because the brush is just ripping it out. Sorry I had to because I have frizzy hair and they use a brush on me & I’m like whyyyy?

Hair looks really damaged from my own experience i can say that there's no repairing hair all you can do is to cut damage of.
If you don't it will take much longer for hair to grow as they just keep splitting at the ends

It’s 8 mins hair cut on WET hair. That is just that. Don’t get confuse y’all , after those 8 mins it takes extra time to blow dry her hair and go back to double check for any boo boos or balance plus style as desired, w extra tool . So all it’s about 45 mins hair cut 💇♀️ it takes us few years of practice and continuing education to do an 8 mins cut on wet hair. I remember once, I did an up do in 15 mins and client paid $75, she then told my boss WHAT? It only took her 15 mins.. boss answered she’s been doing hair for a long time 15 yrs of experience and advancing her education in all aspect of hair and that’s her price. Then she went 🤔 hmm .. well ok I like my up do anyways lol. Needles to say she left me $40 tips. So good for that millionaire hair dresser. Thanks for sharing bc we never stop learning in this industry! It’s simply underrated.

When would you cut hair wet vs dry
There are many factors I would take into consideration when determining wet or dry. The results, customer preference, texture, quality, time, goal, technique etc. many young hairstylists are guided by rules. All looking for “if then” algorithms they can apply to all situations. But this thinking leads to an artist becoming a technician instead of an artist. There is nothing wrong with either. Applying the same tired rules as though they work on all people rather than the unique combination of variables that allow you to make artistic choices. There are a couple rules like wet cutting can typically give you much cleaner lines but then if there is lots of root texture then cutting wet under tension may not be the best for precision. For me it’s about taking each situation one at a time.
Please,when you brush start at the bottom and work the brush up. Way smoother and cuts your time.😊
ALWAYS BEGIN DETANGLING BRUSHING THROUGH HAIR FROM THE VERY ENDS AND SLOWLY WORKING YOUR WAY UP THE HAIR! ALL TANGLES BEGIN FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE HAIR IF YOU START BRUSHING ABOVE THE TANGLES YOU WILL ONLY TIGHTEN THE KNOTS AND EVENTUALLY BREAK THE HAIR.

What blow dryer are you using here ?????
Just a little fb on making explaining videos. Always keep in mind your explaining things to people that don't know what you know. When you describe a "diamond shape" but don't show the exact sectioning on the head but zoom in to what's being cut in your hand .. not too helpful.. you zoom into what's in your hand a couple times.. just take literally 1 extra second showing how the head is sectioned.. but I'm familiar with the cut and it's guaranteed to come out legit
This is helpful, but I feel like it’s subliminally an ad for those shears? Like I’m left confused about the placement of the sections because we keep seeing the shears rather than the sectioning :/

Brushes & wet hair are a bad combo in the best of circumstances. You should be using a comb on her hair when wet from the start.
It’s not your fault but her hair is so damaged even with your beautiful blow dry it looked damaged. Try to convince her she needs a few more inches off to preserve her hair and keep it from splitting even more
While I agree, we can't over suggest. Clearly it bothers us (because it bothers me) more than it does her. There's no way she's not aware after a blow-out which is when hair looks it's best.
Curlsmith bond curl rehab salve is a miracle when used right. Also olaplex 3 of course. Both of these and the right shampoo and conditioner combo could make a huge difference too. (In addition to frequent trims)
