    Taught to park it at -2层B区 (Basement level 2, section B) @10:39 but the car parks at -2层F区072 (Basement level 2, section F at slot 072). Look @15:42 the parking slot details of BMW on the floor. I'm watching this video because I like xPeng and doing research before buying.

      yes, well spotted. so this was either an editing error or the car went to totally the wrong space!

    Excellent. the Summon would round it off nicely

      I thing the difference between summon and this system is that summon use navigation, this system memories the location whitch what they need inside the underground parking.

      summon means nobody's in the car while car's moving, that would probably be a local policy challenge instead of a technical one

    Great video glad you are showing that Tesla isn't the only car company with innovative tech. I want a Xpeng in the US! Also, were u able to get ur hands on a SR+ model for range test? Patiently waiting :)

    Enjoy your videos... and educational. But do you have a video of showing them all laid out and what they do as for charging etc? I could click on them for the reviews, etc. Thanks.

    Interesting. Will it still work if you enter the car park via a different entrance, or starting from a different parking level?

    • @littech4637
      @littech4637 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Read that it can remember about 100 parking spots so you might just need to train it for each parking spot and entrance.

  • @Altkinx
    @Altkinx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Interesting that it totally mirrored his preset route and style, including the unnecessary 3 point backup.

    • @updlate4756
      @updlate4756 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both the Mach-E and model 3 will 3-point reverse park when using the parking assistant. Not sure if it's directly mirroring his driving, or just following the same path.

  • @travishorrell
    @travishorrell 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Whats the point if you still need to be in the car? I can drive the car to my parking spot. What does this get you. The smart summon feature I kinda get because it comes to you, like in the rain or something like that. All this does is drives you to a parking spot. I can drive to a parking spot if I have to be in the car.

    • @dicky-duck6632

      You won't say that if you are driving within a very large underground car park with multiple levels

  • @gmi109
    @gmi109 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The parking spot at the end was different than the one that got "trained". Makes you wonder if something went wrong when trying to return to the original spot requiring them choose a different one.

      They did multiple takes in different places and sent me a lot of video recordings to edit for this video. I choose to use the video clips that looked the best.

    This was super interesting. XPENG has been killing it and they’re definitely competitive with the likes of Tesla. I’m wondering if it can autonomously park with no driver in the car. Can you just drop the XPENG at the garage entrance where it starts its learned route and then head up to your apartment while it parks for you?

    • @henyz1210
      @henyz1210 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technology can be achieved, but relevant laws and regulations do not allow unmanned driving, so XPENG still emphasizes that people dominate the vehicle, rather than vehicles completely dominate the driving

    You forgot to mention if there are plans for electric car specifics so they can match up with a charger station where they are to park and if there are plans for payment of the electric charge or time till charged?.

  • @dozied6620
    @dozied6620 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the video. Can the vehicle self-park without having an occupant or driver? It seems unnecessary if the driver has to be there while using VPA. Can you record the path to a parking spot as Route 1, and then record the path from the same parking spot to the entrance of the garage as Route 2, allowing you to park by activating Route 1 and retrieve your car by activating Route 2?

    • @StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney
      @StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The car can self-park without a driver, but currently, that's not allowed by Chinese law as far as I know. No, you cannot set it up to retrieve the car in its current iteration.

    • @littech4637
      @littech4637 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read that it can remember up to 100 parking spots so I'm guessing you have teach it two times for each entrance

    I think my favorite part is the crunching sounds the steering wheel makes while the turn signal is on. Sounds like little bits of plastic are breaking off inside the steering column. ;) Kidding aside, pretty cool tech!

    Thanks for covering Xpeng, Tom! So, its very odd that the Xpeng UI is not advanced enough to play a simple tutorial video. And I CRINGE every time they speak glowingly of their dozens of expensive sensors, trumpeting the fact that they are not even close to Tesla's *VISION + AI.* That said, the novel capability of their system to remember and park your vehicle showcases some of their R&D, which they spend alot on!

      Yes. They sent me a LOT of video clips to edit together for the video. I choose the clips that had the best angles/looked the best. There were like 4 hours of recording with the car parking in a few different locations and I had to cut down to about 20 mins.

    Wow, had no idea that anyone in the US would actually buy a car made by a Chinese company, never mind one made there. See what they think of US on Weibo, I'm told.

      Kudos ! I couldn't have said it better. When China take responsibility for the pandemic, I'll look at their vehicles. Until then, put a 50% tariff on them. I can't think of any need for this feature in the US.

      Yet all your great American companies like Apple and Tesla would be nowhere without China, a country youre so bigoted towards. Bit of a conundrum there lol.
      Btw, made in China Tesla is higher quality than Fremont Teslas.

    • @jefflj
      @jefflj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is not a healthy conversation. Good technology should succeed, and tech that is less then good should not. This is not an American vs Chinese discussion. It should be a tech to tech conversation.

    • @danpd1238
      @danpd1238 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jefflj Exactly. I fail to see why people connect government to individual companies. As if Americans think about drone strikes sent by US government when buying Iphones.

    • @johnpoldo8817
      @johnpoldo8817 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jefflj Jeff, every YT video is promotion for product or technology reviewed. It's free advertising. When you buy Chinese goods, some of the funds go to PRC. Based on their cover-up, let's minimize US$ funding that government. I will accept slightly lower quality, features, and higher price to buy goods from other Asian nations, EU, and USA. Hopefully, other Americans who were severely affected by lost loved ones and jobs feel the same. Higher tariffs on Chinese cars may help.
