I literally tried this build a couple of days ago, the major difference was that I used RAC5s instead of RAC2s, so you can imagine how that went. I gotta say, those three seconds of firing were certainly worth it
@@LukeSeed So you don’t want me to mention your Snub Nose PPC, Got it. So anyways, I also have a pretty cool and *large* AC20 on my other Fafnir that basically pulverizes any mech from behind ;)
Hey Bara, I dunno if you've done a build with it yet, but there is a Battlemaster with -100% jam chance, allowing you to continuously fire RACs or UACs without ever jamming, just something that came to mind since this is a RAC centric build.
I love this mech so much, so many fun dps builds with it. I personally run quad rac2's and quad HMG's with mask. but there are so many builds for this. one of my favorites by far
That 2nd last guy in the 2nd game dropping into a group full of blues, well it reminded me of that picture of the small girl on that white couch. You know the picture I'm talking about...
Baradul you did it. Been tempted for ages, but this video finally made me play MWO again. I love dakka, I need this mech. I love Awesomes too, and that 9M actually looks usable now. Just had my first game in 5+ years 🥰
You had 2 tons left over after dropping to a 325 and adding the masc. You would have been able to go back up to 335 for 56.7 Kph. Even if you don't remember to masc all that often, are you going to notice that you're moving 3.4 Kph slower?
Yo I put this build together on my own when I got the Juggernaut. I thought I was clever lol I use the dual rac5 masc build now. Running an assault at 72kph.
I run 4 rac 2 and either a heavy PPC or a binary laser and med er laser on a Nightstar. The PPC/Lasers give me a bit of burst damage if the Rac 2s are not spun up or jammed.
I just noticed the chapter setup on the side here. Nice! It's off-screen in the view mode I use, so I wonder how long you've been utilizing that? Haha.
The ending of game one is why I despise light mechs. True cowards who can’t fight strategically (ironic for being in Tier 1) and would rather waste as much time, and everyone else’s time, as possible just for one win because their Tier/Ratio is just that important for their tiny, light egos. Yet PGi’s light mech biased Cauldron repeatedly buffs them to make the game easier for them and a pain in the ass for everyone else who encounters them, for some reason. I literally can’t play as an Assault mech anymore because light mechs have become that much of a problem when they were fine before Legends (really mature, PGi, pissing on the grave of Living Legends). Great game (not MWO, the match), disgraceful pilot (not Bara, the flea) EDIT: just checked the scoreboard, how ironic that a Drac would run away.
I think quad RAC/2s on a 100 tonner just isn't enough punch. Also, I don't want to backseat but if the Awesome in the first match had anticipated the Locust and went to Epsilon instead of trying to search for the Locust and landed even one hit on it while it was trying to cap, then your team would've won on points. Otherwise, good video Bara.
@@3rdtimesacharm84 Well I don't know if I'd call RACs pinpoint but I guess compared to LRMs they would be. I think RACs are good for intimidation and suppression. I've heard several people say they run RACs on a Nightstar so you're probably on to something.
I think that AWS was dc'd for most of the fight. Was at 100% for a very long time. Obviously if he wasn't it's a different outcome. But fun match to watch.
You might be able to create damage but it just does not have enough punch for the tonnage of the mech. Could see it in the first match where other assaults were able to just bush off your damaged and tear into your armor.
You shake cockpit a lot, which is a parameter as well. But yes, 750 spread damage on the 1st game where Bara had significant face time. That is not as impressive as it is fun
I agree that the rac2 lmg combo is probably the most face time weapon combo if you are greedy for damage but I have found that these builds do much better trying to stay at 600m to take advantage of your armor weaponrange and treat yourself as a fire support mech with these builds. Brawling or anything out in the open or under 300m is asking for trouble.
I'm curious after the RAC2 range nerf going down to 540 being closer to the 450 of RAC 5's... *Rac2*4 = 6.6*4 = 26.4 DPS for 8t*4 32T Going Rac5*2 + Rac2 = 22+6.6 = 28.6dps for 28t +5 lmg's adding an extra 1.06 dps in the total +5.3 = 33.9 dps vs the 4 RAC2 which is 26.4 + 4.24 = 30.64 dps Total damage through ammunition is about 459+634+924 =2017 total damage in a match cap the 4 RAC version you posted is 2,360 damage with the weight saved you could go to a 350 engine, keep the heat sinks and get MASC so go down to 59KPH but with MASC of 76.7 and better turn speed for lights. If you want you can remove ammo and pick up things like beagle probes, targeting computers, or more ammo, I feel the trade off of 90 range but almost 4 more dps, with higher max sustain dps would run better on hot planets, while also having more max damage. So really just becomes if that 90m matters more.
Ive been doing x4 rac2 and x2 lmg on my corsair of and on for a few years. This seems like the same mech but with 2 more lmgs, better hardpoint locations and 5 extra tons of weight, but is it a cooler mech? Its not clear 😅
One alone? Correct. Two Racs? You have a chance. Three? You have a good chance. Four? You’ve got a solid chance. Also, what mech you use is important, need the right quirks to properly utilize Rac 2s
It doesn't matter what mech your running PGI nefs the mechs after you buy them. When players complain that its not fair they get killed PGI will go in and nerf your account to, "BALANCE GAME PLAY", so don't waste your money

That doesn't even make sense dude. If it was literally this build there wouldn't be a major difference.
That first match was great. Love matches that come in that close. Your commentary added that extra bit of energy. Great vid.

The Awesome should have gone to capture a different capture point, assuming that one of yours would get flipped
Defiance Industries tech: "So how many bullets do you want to send downrange?"
Baradul: *"Yes."*
750 to 749. Amazing.
On VOIP at the end: "no it wasn't close"
Both teams down to their last mechs, 750 vs 749. 🤣

While I don't love the quad RAC-2 build like the twin Heavy Gauss, this is still a fun build (especially with the RAC-2 HSL quirk)
Congrats to @RukaShiotukiCh for not only killing Baradul, but also winning the match!
our favorite murder bug done good that match.
That first game...insane!
That is probably the only build in the game that justifies suppresion as a thing. Well made.
I am doing much better in mwo because of you Baradul. Thank very much.
Beautiful setup, Fafnir is the only mech that brings me into Tier 1 lol. Will try it, maybe with MASC

Yeah man. You also can't snipe because a light mech will come out of nowhere, and one shot you from behind

I do quad rac2's on a nightstar and get consistent 1k damage, that seems like a pretty decent punch lol
@@3rdtimesacharm84 Punch as in enough DPS to get the killing blow. LRM boats can pretty consistently do 1k damage too, but it's mostly splash damage.
@@MisterNi good thing Rac/2's are a point damage weapon, so 1k is targeted. What makes it good on the night star is the HSL increase and RAC buffs

Lovely dakka M'lord !!
Nightstar is a free mech with +1 RAC HSL, and + ECM btw
Such glorious dakka. I run 2 rac 2 and one rac 5 on my pleb Fafnir. Such annoyance. I love it.
I'm curious after the RAC2 range nerf going down to 540 being closer to the 450 of RAC 5's...
*Rac2*4 = 6.6*4 = 26.4 DPS for 8t*4 32T
Going
Rac5*2 + Rac2 = 22+6.6 = 28.6dps for 28t +5 lmg's adding an extra 1.06 dps in the total +5.3 = 33.9 dps vs the 4 RAC2 which is 26.4 + 4.24 = 30.64 dps
Total damage through ammunition is about
459+634+924 =2017 total damage in a match cap
the 4 RAC version you posted is
2,360 damage

nightstar 10p is good as well with quad rac2, much better quirks and ecm
I run similar sans light machine guns. I call him Burt.
He should have capped KAPPA as soon as the locust ran off then went to overwatch on kappa and theta. That should have been an easy win.
I have no luck with the Fafnir, in any variant. Just can't make it work.
Can you try a quad rac-2 nightstar?
Interesting. Didn't think that Rotary 2s were viable.

Blap Blap Blap Blap
If your Awesome would have gone to Kappa instead of trying to chase a locust with an Assault mech, you would have won.
Hit detection on lights is still so janky that is swings games
