Great analysis! Love Gun is probably my favorite. I hope they properly remaster the self titled debut for its 50th anniversary next year... I love that record but it sounds so flat... translates much better live.
Guess they need more of a proper remixing of the debut..these days so easy with reamping software without destroying everyone's phrasing so it's definitely possible and easy to do giving them a lot more ballsy sound altogether with respect to their playing. Hell, Steven Wilson could do something really amazing with the mix if he'd be up for it. He's got incredible numerous results with other 70's classic rock records..
Instant like and sub! Great video, great list! I agree with most of your ranking here. Very reasonable and same feeling.. KISS has done many great records but I always tend to prefer their 70's era cuz that's where their magic truly happened with exception of Creatures album. Sucha great listenable album! ...and oh Hotter Than Hell is my number 1 Kiss fave album (if not adding Alive to ranking) cuz indeed the production really great fit with the tracks. Awesome record! Dynasty is an interesting and very nice listen..

Rock and roll over 4. Alive 2 5. Destroyer 6. Hotter then hell 7. Dressed to kill 8. Love gun 9. Kiss 10. Lick it up
A very interesting and fun review. I love you have Animalize , HtH,and Monster so high. Monster is highly underrated and the songs sound like a mix of Creatures and Animalize era. As of right now after being a fan since 76, my top 5 are Dynasty, LG,Animalize, Psycho Circus and Lick it up. I could put HtH,Creatures and Monster in my top 5 list too. I love your #1 HtH!! Destroyer belongs where you ranked it, its a bit overrated and its definitely not an Ace stand out guitar record
For me: 1/5 24. Revenge 2/5 23. Ace Frehley 3/5 22. Carnival Of Souls 21. Animalize 20. Peter Criss 19. Rock & Roll Over 18. Creatures Of The Night 17. Sonic Boom 4/5 16. Monster 15. Paul Stanley 1. Music From The Elder
@@themindseyecmh Few things really. I don't think he hit his straps as a writer until Unmasked. Until then, the majority of his songs across the KISS catalogue are lesser ones for me. Also, I'm not keen on his vocals. Very tentative and lacking in personality. Again, he improves with time. I think he's fine on the Frehley's Comet albums, for example. Finally, I'm not at all keen on Eddie Kramer's production style. I would have preferred Love Gun & Rock & Roll Over with a different pair of hands on the dials too. I'm well aware that the vast majority of fans would disagree with me but on the plus side, I do quite like Wiped Out and the guitar playing is superlative throughout.🙂
@carlwmpylu even though ace's albums is my favorite of the solo albums, I'd say it's pretty weak lyrically... that would be my biggest critique.... my Unpopular opinion is that What's On Your Mind is the second best song on the album! I do like the love for Crazy Nights, I think that album has extremely high highs
I was 13 and turned 14 in 1977...So, I have that nostalgia/time/place thing going on the earlier records and had pretty much moved on by Lick it up... My top 3 KISS albums? 1. Rock n Roll Over...2. Love Gun...3...Dressed to kill. How much better would Love Gun have been if Peter Criss sang lead on "Tomorrow and Tonight?" (it's my least favorite song on that album).
Might be enough to tip the scales to make Love Gun my favorite over Rock n Roll over...but you just can't beat Mr. Speed and Hard Luck Woman...and Baby Driver of course...I want you another essential track...@@themindseyecmh Merry Christmas! (glad your wife allowed you to come in from the car...being Christmas and all.) Peace.
Rock & Roll Over is my favorite Kiss Album ,
Great album!
Their best

Can't go wrong with Love Gun! I agree on the debut...I so wish Eddie Kramer would have produced it!
@@themindseyecmh Agreed! That would've sounded incredible.

Dressed To Kill is a fun album!

What album would you recommend to start with for a newbie to KISS CDs
Destroyer is a good starting point, after that, any of the other first six (debut, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed To Kill, Rock N Roll Over, Love Gun)
I'd say the debut album followed by destroyer. Unless you want a live album.
