- KISS! That's the name, KISS! They make look insane, KISS, If rock's your game it's KISS! I rank the studio albums from the bottom up. Give me your lists! LET'S DO IT!#tellyourstory #spotify #familymatters #classicrock #kiss #kissonline #paulstanley #genesimmons #acefrehley #petercriss
I love that you ranked these albums as your favorite and not whats the best by album sales and fan favorites. Yes Destroyer is a classic but it's ranked perfectly. LG is my favorite with Creatures, LiU Dynasty and Animalize. But I have to rank mine the way you did. As I got older i started to enjoy 80s Kiss more and I still do. I feel Animalize is their heaviest album and it's well produced and the guitars are insane, maybe my favorite non makeup album. Great episode!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. It wasn’t an easy task and I knew it would anger some KISS fans but that’s why it’s my list and not theirs. Because this was so brutal, I’m hesitant to do a top 20 KISS songs. We’ll see.
Crazy Nights over Destroyer and Rock and Roll Over? Ya jumped the shark and I had to get out at that point.
It kind of depends on timeline. Time line is everything. Where does one’s fandom begin? Have you completely wore out a particular album? Remember, it’s all a matter of opinion. No right or wrong. But to your point, I’ve watched other rankings and had similar thoughts to yours. Thanks so much for watching. I hope you’ll continue to watch the podcast!🤟
I'm glad you jumped the shark!
Nice to see COS getting the love it deserves!! You should switch the positions rock n roll over and Psycho circus though 😁
Thanks for watching! There’s just something about Psycho Circus that I have always enjoyed. I’ve never had that attachment to Rock n Roll Over. Even though it’s a great album and ranks near the top of many lists. Keep watching!😊
I love Psycho Circus the album and felt it was a return to Kiss' roots following the Revenge/Carnival of Souls era. I could listen to it from beginning to end and never skip a track. "We are One" is a great song and really speaks to Kiss fans who stuck with them through thick and thin and Gene sings really well on it.
@@MikeBodo though I Finally Found My Way is contrived, I agree completely with your assessment of Psych Circus.🤟
Nice work here, putting this all together. My "KISS" are the first 6 lps. Love Gun, good album but clearly not the original line up. As a drummer for 50 yrs. and growing up with this band, I still question if Peter C. was the drummer on the "Rock 'n Roll Over" lp.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! If you only go 6 albums deep, can you rank those for me? Peace✌️
Well there is video of Kiss playing in the studio during the RARO recordings but its possible he only played on half of the album. In Peter's book he stated he hardly had anything to do with LG besides his song so who knows. Kiss probably still has ghost players they've never mentioned. Who knows..
That t-shirt is the BEST!
@@MichaelBrandvold I would really like to get one or all of you guys on the podcast sometime. You might have my cell#. If not message me on FB if you are interested. ✌️
And yes, that t-shirt rocks!
Lovely channel dude, I am watching all your videos from start to finish! I hope that you can reach the 1000 subs mark within this year. Did you check out the Medieval Death LP + DVD and the Mordicus “Rights ‘n Trials” LP! What is your opinion on these two Yperano Records 2023 releases?
Thank you so much for watching! That’s awesome! It would be great if I reach 1000. I have to say that I’m not familiar with either band. I did look them up and they’re a little extreme for me.😊
One more thing, Ben. Revenge and Carnival of Souls was really Kiss's attempt to leave their hair band days behind and look/sound more like Metallica than anything related to grunge. Problem with Kiss during the entirety of the unmasked era was that they were trying to sound like popular bands of the day at the expense of their own distinct style. Psycho Circus was a return to that and was their last great studio album, IMO. Don't get me wrong, while I loved Revenge and Asylum, there was nothing that unique or original about them. They were chasing trends back then. Same with just about everything that came after Love Gun. Dynasty/disco. Unmasked/Pop Rock. The Elder/Rock Opera, Creatures of the Night/Ozzy Osbourne & Early Motley Crue
@@MikeBodo I agree with most everything you’re saying here. It’s true that KISS began to chase trends in the 80’s non make up era. I don’t think it was because they were lost but more that they had a new identity and where they were going to fit in the hard rock world. Not only that, there were still as they had and always have been nearly blackballed by radio so they were doing everything to get their music on the radio. I think that all went away with Revenge. I don’t see as trying to be or sound like anyone else. I think they were trying to get back to the sound of Creatures. That’s why many of us fans almost hear those as companion albums even though they’re 10 years apart! Lastly, as I said in the video, Carnival of Souls does have a grunge sound but it’s KISS’ version of grunge and it’s not top to bottom. Thanks for your enthusiasm!
Dynasty at 16, really, some Ace's best tracks are on that album...
You’re right! Some of Ace’s best songs are on Dynasty. It still slots in at 16 for me.
Nice video, Sir 👍
Thank you very much. Hope you’ll keep watching!
You lost me on Rock And Roll Over. Their best album. Then again you probably like Almost Human 🤮 Weakest song ever.
@@smasheswimps3636 Thanks for watching! This is all subjective and simply based on taste in the music. No right or wrong. As a matter of fact, I dig Almost Human! Great Song!👍
Great review and list by Ben for the most part. However, Rock 'n Roll Over should be rated WAAAYYY higher. I'd put it no. 3 following Kiss and Hotter than Hell. Hardly a weak song on it and it's produced much better than Dressed to Kill. I do agree with Ben's take on King of the Mountain from Asylum. Great opening track that smacks you in the face.
@ I completely understand your point on Rock and Roll Over. I’m definitely in the minority ranking it as low as I did. It surprised me, too. I appreciate you watching. Thank you.
