There is something mystical about this song. Truly a masterful piece. Truly good music gives you a feeling that can only be described in the music, and the lyrics cannot decipher them. That is why music is the world's universal connection to each other.
I miss this game so much, I hope to play this again someday. I'm brazillian and I never thought this game would have portuguese themes. It's so beautiful, like the ''A Deus'' song.
I couldn't find the song anywhere and it was quite hard since I didn't know the name in the first place. Yay for people like you who actually know such things and upload them. :D I just -love- that song!
I've taken some liberties to keep it consistent with the melody but here is a rough translation of the Portuguese into English: Give thanks! For the sunrise, Beautiful soul, dance of the land. Feel it! The blowing wind of courage. Overflow! Milk of the land, kiss from heaven, rain of rejoicing. A sprouting seed. A small desire becomes - Bigger! Bigger!.Bigger! Cultivate! a path forward, a new path Celebrate! Reaping a million kernels of wheat, kernels of destiny Sing out! Sing loud our song! Bring forth! The song of the people. Force of good will. Doorway of purest hope.
Theres english lyrics for this songs, what shes speaking of only makes this song more grand, shes talking about mother earth and hope and wishes, this song is beyond epic, its so touching, you can feel it with your soul
I never knew this was Portuguese O_O Either way, it's always been one of my favorite videogame tracks, hmm, maybe I should make a top 10 favorite videogame tracks, haha.
Ahhh...haven't heard that epic song for waaay to long...especially from 1:09 when the beat sets in.....but I have to admit, the ingame version is a lot more moving, first almost all silent, a thin voice in the darkness, echoing, and then after a while all villagers singing along and building up a mighty chorus against valmar.....jeeeez.....anyone still want's to know why Grandia is called Grandia? Just listen to the IG version of Cancao do Povo and you'll know ;) This one is epic too :)
English translation: Praise the Dawn Beautiful soul Dance of the Earth Feel it! the Gale of Courage Overflow the milk of Earth Kiss from heaven Rain of rejoicing a little seed wish great great great ... (repeat) Cultivate, a new path Party, mow, a million of corn cobs the cobs of destiny Sing, our song Transmit, people's song Cordial strength Door of hope ...
@ShikibuSan One of the reason's of it being in portuguese is the religious theme in all the game. Portugal is a very religious country (or at least it is compared to other european countries), and we have Fatima's berth (not sure if this is the correct english translation). Funny how times changed, BOF series used to be censored due to the religious content, but Grandia 2 did not change a thing
Erm, also the fact they had a Portuguese exchange school across the road from the studio... (Even mentioned in the credits, i'd wager that played the biggest part in it's inclusion.)
these kind of games made me want to be a gamer when i was a child. too bad they aint making them like this anymore. its all about shooters and 'innovative' systems nowadays and in the process they removed the integral part in games that actually got the attention of people in previous years.
portuges sim... Louvem! Madrugada Alma bela dança de terra ó sintam! I liked a lot of the songs in Grandia 2 but I don't remember most of them, at least not too well, so I can't really give you any info or names. I'll just go through the ones you've uploaded, I'm sure I'll remember them. Haven't played in years, so my memory fails me. xD

As I understood it she is Portuguese and the song is Japanese. I'll come up with her name again and post it. She has a lot of great works. I stand corrected...Kaori Kawasumi
Which is probably where my "They used portuguese but changed it to sound more Japanese" thing comes from. I understand where you're coming from, though. I don't know any but the lyrics and her pronunciation don't match up.
@madebynewt Well, but in this case I think it's intended...makes it even more special. heh, wouldn't fit to a fantasy world when one of the main characters would sing plain portugese, a real language =P
Oh, it's definitely Portuguese.. or is at least BASED on Portuguese. I read that the song was changed to sound more Japanese, but the original lyrics were Portuguese.
I'm Brazilian, I could understand about half of the song, her Japanese accent is too thick. Its just like the Japanese trying to sing in English, you can barely understand them. Lovely song
Really? It doesn't sound Japanese at all if that's really what they were going for lol. I still love this song, though. I can't find the soundtracks anywhere for sale or download for that matter. *sigh* I'll have to stick to these TH-cam videos.
Ok sirs, we have a problem here, because i see 2 Zeras have passed by here, show yourselves, because i'm a fucking Geohound and i eat popes for breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Justforvisit Not really...the Japanese are HORRIBLE at languages. Look at the example they use when singing with english words, you cannot understand what they are saying. Even my friend Yuki said that. Like Propeller, they say 'Pulopela' they just cannot reproduce some sounds we do normally.
When I was four, my big sister would sing this song this song to me when I was sad or had a nightmare. Thank you for putting it in youtube. :)
Kairi Christian That's a beautiful thing to do of your sister! :)
Imagining that just hit me right in the feels...
Im so jealous you have Elena as a sister...
Hassan Raza
Millenia would be better! ;)
Ha, awesome sister.
This brought me tears of my younger days playing on my dream cast
How I miss those days
There is something mystical about this song. Truly a masterful piece. Truly good music gives you a feeling that can only be described in the music, and the lyrics cannot decipher them. That is why music is the world's universal connection to each other.
Listened to this song with surround sound ... teared up and got chills at the same time ... it's been a while since I've heard it.

there's a PC port available on www.old-games.com/ .
There's also a "remastered" version on STEAM, but it had audio synchronization issues.
grandia soundtrack is one of my favorite albums ever lol
2:10 the compositional perfection is awe inspiring :)
Mito demais..e vc vive?

makes you feel good about actually finishing an already beautiful game.
this is song is amazing, i'm portuguese and you don't have to know portuguese to feel this song...beautiful.
This song is amazing. Really love this game
1 year later, and I'm back. Just watched a full playthrough of this game. It truly is an amazing game with a beautiful, powerful OST.
6 years later, this song is still amazing!
I couldn't find the song anywhere and it was quite hard since I didn't know the name in the first place. Yay for people like you who actually know such things and upload them. :D I just -love- that song!

I cried when hearing this for the first time.
I loved this song. It is one of the all time best for a video game. I also loved the game. One of the best RPG's that I have played.
I never knew this was Portuguese O_O Either way, it's always been one of my favorite videogame tracks, hmm, maybe I should make a top 10 favorite videogame tracks, haha.

I understood you fine, and it does explain a lot of things I didn't know about the singing.
Thanks for the explanation. (:
these kind of games made me want to be a gamer when i was a child. too bad they aint making them like this anymore. its all about shooters and 'innovative' systems nowadays and in the process they removed the integral part in games that actually got the attention of people in previous years.
I put few words for this beautiful game...
Thank you so much! ^__^
No problem. This is one of my favorite games. (:
Was such a great game, wish it got more recognized but tis the fate of the dreamcast and the late pc/ps2 launch =(
If you have any more music from games that you'd like me to upload.. lemme know the game and I'll track it down. ;)

An orchestral version of this plays at the end of grandia 1, but I can't seem to find that version in any of the ost i've heard.
It's no problem at all!
bro i stilll have my cd since this game came out lol
As I understood it she is Portuguese and the song is Japanese. I'll come up with her name again and post it. She has a lot of great works.

Agreed!
Little Shelter was the A Deus remix I think. I've got that one too. I'll try to find it.
Back when games were good
I am Brazilian and reading the lyrics I understood a Portuguese similar to the Pt. Was perfect, who created is Brazilian also?
Which is probably where my "They used portuguese but changed it to sound more Japanese" thing comes from. I understand where you're coming from, though. I don't know any but the lyrics and her pronunciation don't match up.
I am Brazilian, and I don't understand a word that she say.
Japanese speaking portuguese is strange!
Yes, it is.
I'm tempted to post some of my other favorites from the soundtrack, but I might get flagged and banned for it. XD
Hm. There's an idea. I just may try it myself is my Almateria karaoke goes over well.
You're welcome!
@madebynewt Well, but in this case I think it's intended...makes it even more special.
heh, wouldn't fit to a fantasy world when one of the main characters would sing plain portugese, a real language =P
Well, the Portuguese seems to be able to still understand it. Hehe.
It's definitely Portuguese, I know because I'm a native speaker.
realmente ta em português? traduz pra nós fiaspo
No problem. ;)
Elfen Lied versão grandia.
Miyasu Tsukina. :3
Oh, it's definitely Portuguese.. or is at least BASED on Portuguese. I read that the song was changed to sound more Japanese, but the original lyrics were Portuguese.
I think mine just recently stopped working. ):
Agreed =D
I'm Brazilian, I could understand about half of the song, her Japanese accent is too thick. Its just like the Japanese trying to sing in English, you can barely understand them. Lovely song
yea the composer is right at the top along with nobuo uematsu xD
Really? It doesn't sound Japanese at all if that's really what they were going for lol. I still love this song, though. I can't find the soundtracks anywhere for sale or download for that matter.
*sigh* I'll have to stick to these TH-cam videos.
