    Couldn't agree with you more Tim, there is nothing like wide open space and an isolated road heading through it to soothe the spirit and feed the soul. Really loving this series! Feeling enspired!

      Thanks so much! I hope so, we’re rapidly running out of money, so will need to head back to a city and hustle out a ‘normal’ living pretty soon if it doesn’t! Been an unbelievable 20 months on the road though, and I wouldn’t take it back for anything!

      I cant remember if you have but consider creating a Patreon? Maybe share digital prints from your adventures?

      I seriously hope you can find a way to do more of this, tis super good and entertaining content

      @@pieterOD yeah I’m a professional photographer and film maker! Haha imagine going from this to weddings, I’m not sure i’d mentally survive, but ya I should be open to anything I guess. I do need to set up a Patreon, I thought of giving an art print of any shot of their choice per trip? I may have left it too late, but ya, Lost in Africa will continue and I’ll keep pushing to build it, but it may just not be full time for a while!

    Thanks again. I'll be hitting the road for three or four months out of Cape Town Tuesday week in a 1995 Landy Defender. Am a bit trepidous now that the time has finally come to pass. Your videos always give me that little kick in the behind that say go, go, go. Despite the potentials, which are indeed many. PS. Looks like you like your beer. That bit didn't need sound. They were fondly cradled... Looking forward to your next video, and hopefully the electrics are now finally sorted. Best of luck...

      What’s on your itinerary Craig? That’s so awesome, we might have to spend some time back in the city hustling after this Moz trip unfortunately and I’m really not sure how I’ll get back into normal life, it’s been a wild 20 months now! B and I both lol’d at the beer comment! 🤣🤣

    • @craigwatt8698
      @craigwatt8698 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LostinAfrica Hi Tim, I bought the Landy at the beginning of last year, it is a similar model to the one you have been recently travelling with. A bit earlier I think. At the time I had started mapping out routes and destinations, and specific dates and parks up to Zambia, along with some 4x4 training as this was going to be my first solo long haul trip in a 4x4. Then Covid happened and everything became uncertain and then collapsed AND the budget broke as all projects were delayed. So, I have decided for this trip not to set any specifics, just get on the road and work it all out between myself, work and the vehicle and the places I visit. The only specific is up the West coast to see some flowers and birds (WC and NC, and maybe Southern Namibia if all goes well). What happens after this is entirely down to how it works out and what the budget looks like come end December. Got my second shot today, Landy in the shop for some work, so by next week I hope to be good to go on my meandering way.

    As frustrating as the bad days can be, they only add to the knowledge gained living amongst he bush... Yrs from now when you've mastered the art of living in such a beautifully harsh environment, you'll look back at these moments most people would've given up over... and realize the knowledge you've gained from them. I really enjoy seeing this side of life on the road that bring us at home the beautiful videos, and pics of a country that's stolen the hearts of many. I wouldn't mind a bowl of that deliciously looking beef stew as well. Lol

    I still haven’t solved the « walk the river-don’t walk the river » dilemma. And despite all my Google and TH-cam research, obviously, no one has. If they are hippos, I would say it's too deep. Crocs are another story. 90-cm deep crossings with murky water are plenty for a croc to move towards you. What's your take on that issue? Great video as always.

    • @LostinAfrica
      @LostinAfrica  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh we’re in the same boat man, and unless you’re willing to just reroute every time there’s indeterminably deep water, you’re going to have to take a small risk one way or the other! Glad you enjoyed the video! I took much too big a risk with crocs the other day, to recover a memory card from a downed drone, bloody stupid actually, but you’ll see in an episode or two time. Just don’t shout at me please. Irrational decisions all around when it comes to this channel! 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

    However, it would be nice to see your landscapes a bit better..... maybe if you move your face to the side of the frame perhaps?

    Your running 2 spare tires? 265 70 17 right?

    • @LostinAfrica
      @LostinAfrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just one spare at the moment. I’ve thought of taking two, but would lose a lot of clearance sticking one back under the car, and a lot of space sticking a second one on the rear bumper. Ive got a kalahari trip coming up that i will almost certainly take 2 spares for. Size is correct yes!

    • @sefisredtv8991
      @sefisredtv8991 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh your removed the spare underneath for clearance. Makes sense. Cheers. 😁

    • @LostinAfrica
      @LostinAfrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sefisredtv8991 yeah I’ve got the long range tank there, so the spare was sitting about 8cm lower than usual and it ruins the departure angle. If you watch the final episode of the Botswana series, you’ll see how that spare actually got me stuck in the mud!
