It's at the 45:00 mark where I got a huge AHA moment: "when all of the pieces are optimized it's often a sign that you need to change the pawn structure." BOOM. Again, astonishing clarity and depth here. Danya, we love you!

I'm also more or less at the same level as you at chess, but I've always played Ruy Lopez, it's the first opening that my father taught me. If you know it well, you can put even very strong opponents in difficulty (in blitz I even beat a 2280 with it once) it takes a bit of study to know it well, it's true, but it's a repertoire that you can have for the rest of your life , the Ruy Lopez never gets old. And it's actually a lot of fun to play. If by chance there is some variant that you know little about or that you would like to learn more about (even among the "minor" ones), let me know, so maybe I can give you a hand👍

It's kinda interesting really. I looked up the account. They had their account since 2019 and was a 1600ish rated player and seemed to be playing honestly. Then later that year they just stop playing. Never plays a game again until June of 2023 where they log in and come back with a vengeance - crushing nearly everyone they play. There was the occasional loss but clearly dominating everyone until they played Danya and while it may not have been their game it was either that one or shortly afterward that they got flagged as a cheater.
My guess is the account was hacked.

Love your content! I've learned a lot, and in particular I really admire your approach to ethics in chess (and any competitive game) of not throwing around accusations of cheating without clear proof. I've appreciated that in each of your previous "cheater" videos, you'd always take the time to do a post-game analysis to confirm your suspicions, and that you pretty regularly lecture your chat about making unfounded accusations.
Which is why this video is so confusing. As others in the comments have suggested, I'm guessing you played this game without any suspicions, and then later at some point you came to discover that your opponent had been banned for cheating. Including that context (in the description or ideally in the video itself) would be really helpful to those of us who watch your content exclusively on TH-cam.
    Keep up the great work!

In the realm of sixty-four squares, under digital skies,
There dwells a Grandmaster, wise beyond his guise.
His name whispers through the ethernet, Naroditsky, they say,
A maestro of the board, in a most unusual ballet.
With knights prancing in nimble laughs, bishops sliding on glee,
His pawns push forward, jesters in a spree.
Queens reign with a wisdom, subtle, yet bold,
Rooks castle in tales, centuries untold.
In this kingdom of intellect, where warriors convene,
Our noble commander, both fierce and serene,
Guides us through battles, with humor as his steed,
In a land where the mind outpaces the deed.
His lessons, a banquet, for the hungry at mind,
A mash-up of erudition and jest, uniquely combined.
He moves the pieces in a dance so divine,
Leaving us in awe, at the brink of Cloud Nine.
Oh Naroditsky, you wizard of the board,
Your strategies complex, never a moment bored.
Through TH-cam's vast cosmos, your teachings soar,
A digital symposium, we can't help but adore.
Eloquent and geeky, a blend so rare,
In each video, your heart, openly you share.
A champion not just of chess, but of the cerebral art,
Teaching us more than moves, but wisdom to impart.
So here's to you, Grandmaster, beloved of the chess clan,
From a fan who adores you, for the remarkable man.
May your knights continue their cheeky prance,
As we marvel at your balance, captivated in trance.
Naroditsky, the chess sage, with a demeanor so light,
Keep sharing your wisdom, making our intellects bright.
In the boards we find joy, in your lessons a spark,
A lighthouse you stand, in a world often dark.
Witty and brainy, with each move you cast,
In the chronicles of chess, your legacy will last.
A toast from your followers, in the digital sea,
For the chess lessons and laughs, forever thankful we'll be.

Only you would be down to 10 seconds saying you have “plenty of time” and apologizing for it being boring. Not boring in the slightest, great vid, nice job beating a cheater

The Ruy Lopez was the first opening I learned :) Please try out the Exchange Variation in a future video! The lines arising from 6.Nxe5 Qd4 7.Qh5 are particularly interesting IMO.

I like the Exchange Variation but your line loses simply because of g6 and on the g5-square you have problems with the f6-fork

@@octosaurinvasion Exactly, watch analysis part, wait some time and then set up critical positions on the board, try to figure out why x move was played instead of y and such. Look how each move changes the position.

Wait what, these games are so much more instructive. If you want to spot tactics in low elo, just play a shit ton more games that are not bullet and puzzle practices. These games however demonstrate strategy when there's no clear weakness/tactic to exploit which is far more instructive.

Certainly not to say that I'm not enjoying the continued higher ELO games/analyses, but I can remember catching one your twitch streams live a ways back (couple months ago, maybe?) wherein you had started a new speedrun back with a low ELO rating. Has the focus shifted back onto the Theory Speedrun? Ty!

39:00 so how do you know to play b4, is it intuition, do you actually calculate every single variation, or is it because there is nothing else you can play to improve the position so it must be a break?
