Thanks! But I have a feeling most people on TH-cam like short lessons because they just don't have time to sit for one hour. In my class, of course, I teach for two hours at a time. :-)

Hi Kenneth, Does be naing-ngan ka pa le mean "where do you come from"..ie Nationality whereas your be ka lar le is asking "which country are you from/living in". Bit confused here.
Ruthy Hi! "Be naing-ngan ka pa le" is the question "Which country are you from?" Here's the breakdown: Be (which/what)Naing-ngan (country)Ka (from)Pa le (words indicating a question)
Ruthy: you might say "won thar ba de" instead of "won thar de" for emphasis. The added "ba" in this case has no significant function other than to express a bit more reverence or humility toward the person one is meeting.
Hello Lucca! "Thwar" is the verb "to go." Attaching "daw me" behind it makes it "I'm about to go/leave." (The action is about to occur.) Attaching "bi" makes it "I'm going/leaving now." (The action is now in progress.) Burmese tend to use "thwa daw me" and "thwar bi" interchangeably as set phrases to say goodbye, to signal that they're ready to leave. You can also attach other verbs to these two forms to get similar effects. For example, "Sar daw me" is "I'm about to eat." "Sar bi" is "I'm eating now." People tend to say these as they're sitting down to eat. "Lah daw me" is "I'm about to come over." "Lah bi" is "I'm coming over." You might say those to a friend by phone when you're running a bit late to your meeting with him/her. Hope this helps!
