Always hear about the length of some of the shows and every single Dead concert Ive watched from there was absolutely smoking! I heard a story/rumor that the owner of the place bailed Jerry out of jail once, so Jerry being Jerry, he responded in kind by doing what he does best, stealing faces and burning venues down! Anyone heard that before? I got the information from the (unreliable) comment section on one of the videos...✌

I got to see Joema K. In 1981 , in Munich Germany , live solo concert, the power went out. No Lights , No Amps , he just kept on playing without a hesitation.... Used the electric guitar, as a acoustic. He did not give a shit about power amps Just concentrated on playing that tune
I saw them as a 3 piece band at Hofstra University when I was 17 or 18 years old, Jack n Jorma came on stage and announced their drummer Bob Steller was stuck in traffic, and the played 3 songs, greatest thrill of my life, then drummer arrived middle of song 3, gave a drum roll n started right in, Jack n Jorma could play stand up, they were so tight they didn't even need a drummer, I loved both Sammy, and Bob on drums, must have seen them live some 18 times, 1975 were the best memories, they gave a 5 and a half he concert Thanksgiving day, Academy of music

Saw Jorma and Tuna a bunch of times at school. The year 1973, had them there on 4/7/73. Back then, they'd play at a number of theaters and campuses for a couple of weeks, as they were and still are a big deal here in the NYC tri state.
I never knew Jorma K. could sing! The fact that he was known solely for his (admittedly incredible) guitar playing skills is a testament to Jefferson Airplane's wealth of outstanding vocalists.
I saw him later...About '76 I think with Starship and a few years later solo. His work on the 1st few Starship albums was never much appreciated. With Marti, Grace and Papa they were a decent band.

Once at a Hot Tuna set in Winterland, before the music started, Papa John stepped to the edge of the stage, looked back and forth over the crowd and growled out really loud YEAHHHHH! Maybe you have to be on acid to visualize it.
Yesterday I sang this to my therapist, a mexician Californian whose in New Zealand. "What's this? she asked. So I've googled it fir her. It fun to boogy on to it as I sang it. If bought the album in NZ in 76 age 15, and at 61, I'm singing it to my brain injury therapist at the supermarket! LOL:) Now that's good therapy!♡:)✌

I always liked HOT TUNA... this track comes from their THIRD LP, the one after "First Pull Up, Then Pull Down" with Jorma Kaukonen, on guitars and lead vocals , the great Jack Casady, on bass, plus "violinist extraordinaire" Papa John Creach - violin-, and Sammy Piazza on drums...
Alembic One as it was called was a bit of an experiment. The pickups were mounted on rails and could be moved. Jack Casady wasn’t sure what he wanted so the pickups could be moved.
To my ear, the musical intro was borrowed from Arlo Guthrie's Alicia's Restaurant Massacree (released in 1967). My ear isn't the most highly tuned piece of equipment, but I wondered if anyone else felt the urge to sing the Massacree lyrics before Jorma kicked in?
I had forgotten that Hot Tuna was really Jefferson Airplane until I saw Jorma in this video. If Grace hadn't gotten sick there would have never been a Hot Tuna. To keep Hot Tuna together after Grace got well and could perform again was great. They even opened for Airplane. Jorma, Katner and Casady back as Airplane band members of course. Even Marty Balin sang with Tuna a bit. Marty, very underrated front man.
I saw this exact tour and musician line-up in Kansas City MO in 1973. I believe it was at Cow Town Ballroom in KCMO but my memory's a little sketchy from back in those days. They say if you can remember the 60's & 70's you weren't really there. So, yeah. I was there...

Saw Electric Hot Tuna at Winterland in 1971. Allman Brothers Band were part of same show. Saw acoustic Hot Tuna at Redondo Beach in the 90's.

This song was written by Blind Boy Fuller before Arlo was even born. The chord structure is fairly common in Folk Blues.
