I lost respect for my mom when she literally threw my laptop on the floor because I food in the fridge, and she was mad at me for 3 days straight not letting me explain. My dad had to buy me a new one, mind you we don't got money like that, she had the audacity to act like nothing happened, and was excited to see the laptop. She couldn't even be decent enough to apologize and buy me a new one. I hated her before this, but this was the last straw

This happened in May of 2019, a few weeks before my birthday.
I went on a trip with my family to Disneyland.
They treated me like garbage. My mother allowed my siblings to barge in when I did my business or changed. She threw away my pet's medication that I had brought with me.
She knew full well my scale baby needed it (4 year old bearded dragon).
These are only a few instances that happened with my family, but not the important things.
I grew up LDS, also known as Mormon. I left in 2016 when I was an adult -
I am 26. A full, LEGAL adult to make my own decisions.
On social media, I said something not so friendly about my old religion.
Never mentioned my mother, but she found it and bitched at me about my post after the trip. No warning about it or anything. She had also waited until I was doing laundry at her house (at that point in time I had no washing machine) so she had the upper hand.
I got chewed out for having an opinion, and when I told her I don't care what others thought of me, she proceeded to say I am unintelligent and uneducated because I said something against "the one true church."
I lost A LOT of respect for her, only because she acts like we never had that conversation.
The same day, she bitched at my boyfriend when I didn't want to fight with her a second time. She blamed my autisim for "shutting people out."

I now do not talk to her. She tried using manipulation and guilt-tripping to have me give her my number just a few days ago.
Saying my bf and I are having a bad relationship because I cut myself from the family.
My dad and mother have been separated since 2012, so who is she to say my relationship is going bad?
It isn't. My bf and I both agree that eloping is best.
Her manipulation and gaslighting no longer works, and I think this fact bothers her.
I am much happier now that I cut her out.

Crazy isAwesome I lost respect for my friend because she was never honest with me, she doubted me and pretended she was paying attention to what I had to say. She was all talk. She said my outfits were pretty when my mother had dressed me, and my mother had made me look like a clown. I wore a big sweater I snook in my backpack all day at my school and my friend proceeded to talk about my “ fashion sense “. Behind my back. She drew these completely ugly clothes that looked worse than mine and showed them to people. Apparently I was wearing a bra that was for showing it to boys and I was completely mortified. I had gotten a suspension for 3 weeks and the people backing my ‘friend’ up were using the lies they were told from my friend as ‘evidence.’ My parents didn’t even believe me and I was grounded and my mother dressed me everyday and she even visited my school time to time to make sure I looked ‘proper’
I’ve had super honest friends that told me my outfit looked like I just came from Area 51. We laughed it off, they’ve told me I need more friends or I’d end up in a ditch and honestly I was not offended. I was happy for once and didn’t really care. They have taken it a little far like when my grandmothers funeral came up and they said “At least there are less mouths to feed” and I got angry. I’m not friends with both of these groups anymore but I’d rather have a unfiltered friend rather than a friend who has a persona that is completely different than their true one.

I lost respect from my dad when he lied to me said that all our arguments where my fault (some where) and that it’s my fault his not married and also said I can’t decide wen I want to see him (my parents r split so I only see my dad every 2nd weekend) even tho he mentally abused me and my brother

Either way,that shouldn't be a valid reason to lose respect for your parents, who born you into this world and took care of you. That is not comparable to what your parents have faced, and they still have respect for you? The answers in this video though, are a good reason to lose respect for their parents. I lost quite some respect from my dad. His woman forced me to ‘be ok’ with her. He supported it. Keep in mind that that woman is the cause of my mum and dad’s divorce. My dad lives in Paris, however, I live in Malaysia. So that was the last trip for a Long time( maybe even the last one for now) I completely ignored his calls and didn’t call him for at least 1 year. But that woman never respected my personal space. She walked into my 할아버지 (grandpas) home (where me and my dad were living for the trip). I was sick, so I couldn’t call my mum for help whatsoever. Until now, even the mere mention of her, my face goes emotionless and so does my voice. Until my dad starts to respect me, he hasn’t gained my respect. My mum has, she has raised me well and has been an amazing Mother, coping with being a single Mother. She has now found a new man, and I am not only proud, but happy for her. I hope my story inspires u to have someone earn ur respect, not expect it...

My mom does the same thing for “if you say/know what your want, you’ll get it.” And it worked, one day she made us all stand informer of a apartment (when we just came to our country) and made us all say that one day we’ll have this house. After a couple of months of working, she got the apartment (which we currently live in) as well as a car.
But then again I’m not one to talk, I’ve lost respect for her long ago and we don’t get along or spend time together but I’m not sure she realizes that. It’s ok to be honest bc my sister also doesn’t like her. But at least she’s not like my dad (who once forgot all about me in an ice cream shop, and when asked of me he said “who?”). I watched them leave the shop until they realized I was gone.

That's not how people should be raised and it could literally cost more money if your child is physically or mentally abused so much they need therapy. You can actually go to jail. Story when I lost respect for my parents:
Probably around 7 years ago, my parents brought my to a therapist because I’ve been getting into lots of fights with my parents and they wanted someone to help. I was already salty about the whole thing, so when the therapist would ask me questions, I would stay silent just to prove a point. After a while the therapist was fed up with this and called me a “spoiled bitch who isn’t grateful for getting help” (mind you, I was 10 at the time). I started crying and yelling at him, finding any insult I could. For the entire hour I was there, it was me sobbing and screaming at the therapist, while he would cuss at me and insult me. During this entire hour. My parents stayed absolutely silent and didn’t say a word. I was shocked about how they were letting this man treat me and not doing anything to defend me. It’s been years later, but I never forgot that incident, and I just now realized what a big change it made in my life. Now, I don’t rely on my parents for anything and never tell them if I have any problems like bullying or anxiety or things like that. I have a pretty good relationship with them, but I think that was the moment I realized that I was the only one on my side.

I lost all respect for my mom in my late teens, she always emotionally abuses me and makes me feel like shit. I don't love her I don't care if she tries to buy my love it doesn't work. Always guilt tripping me to make me feel bad for her. My close friend is more of a motherly figure than she ever has been. Even though me and my friend had a really bad fight and didn't speak for a year, she has never called me worthless or a failure.

I was abused by my grandma and cut ties with her. My dad screamed at me later and said that he 'Didn't believe in cutting ties with people.' and that I 'Should just grow up and be nice to her.' Always saying that 'I was such a spoiled brat. You're making your grandma sad.'

This did not happen to me but one of my friends.
My friend's parents were of the ages 16 and 19 when she was born. Her mother couldn't take care of her properly because she was still in school and underage. So her father got custody of her.
Her father eventually got married to her stepmom and they had a son. It was fine for the first couple of years before things started going downhill. Her stepmother was obviously loving her kid more than her stepchild and would spoil her son rotten while my friend had to deal with the backlash. It didn't help that her stepmother obviously wore the pants in the relationship because her father did nothing to ever go against her.
By the time my friend was 9, her stepmother reasoned that because she worked a job where she cleaned houses all day that she didn't need to clean the house, and that her son, age 7 at the time didn't have to do anything either. My friend's father worked long hours at that point so my friend would have to clean the house herself.
By the time her brother was 9, he had already gotten a phone, a brand new one at that. The year after that she finally got a phone, even though she was 2 years older, and it was an older model.
Time went on with her having to deal with this.
She got her first detention at age 13 because she forgot a book in her locker and had to go get it. She only got lunch detention for that. But her stepmother grounded her for 2 weeks because of it. By the time her little brother turned 13, he had had lunch detentions, after school detentions, and in-school suspensions for fighting, causing a ruckus and being caught cheating. He didn't get any punishments at home for them. If my friend happened to mention this to her parents she would get two weeks being grounded for doing nothing.
On her little brother's 14th birthday he got a brand new phone that her parents couldn't afford. But her parents' decision on what to do about it was to shut her phone off. That was a few months before her 16th birthday.
For her sixteenth birthday, her parents decided to be nice and rented out an expensive house for the weekend for us to stay in. We were going there on Friday night and leaving sometime on Sunday. My friend wanted me and three others to come with. And as always her parents let some of her brother's friends come along as well. Her brother brought to friends, though the whole week before he was arguing that he should be able to bring as many friends as her, even though it was her birthday. Thankfully her parents shot down that idea. Friday night it was great. As was Saturday morning and afternoon. But when it got to Saturday night that is when it started getting ugly. For some reason or another, I got sick that night. I honestly didn't want to kill the mood of the party, so I decided to isolate myself so I didn't make anyone else feel bad, or worse get anyone else sick. My friend's stepmom decided that it was my friend's fault, because they weren't involving me, and would come to check up on me every hour, slowly building up that I wasn't spending time with them. Eventually, at like 11:30 p.m. I called my parents to pick me up because it got really bad. I told all of my friends what was going on and even they told me I should go home. I am sitting next to the door waiting for my parents to get there to pick me up and my friend gets called up to have a talk with her parents. I could hear everything from where I was sitting, mostly because they were yelling. They were blaming her for me leaving and all these other minor things that went wrong over the weekend, most of which were caused by her brother. After I left, apparently it didn't get much better. I was texting my friends the day after and they told me that her parents had yelled at her until 2 in the morning. Then at 6 sharp, they woke everyone up told everyone to call their parents and pretty much kicked everyone out. She didn't hear the end of it until Monday. I felt so bad for her because I was mostly the reason she was yelled at. But she didn't blame me for it.
About a month later her stepmother and father learned that she was in contact with her mother and started screaming that she wasn't allowed to be talking to her mother, because of a court order and whatnot. She asked to see the order in question, and it only stated that her mom was not allowed to start contact with her. My friend was the one who started the contact so she was able to keep talking to her mother. She is currently going through court to have the custody changed over to her mother, and I hope to god she succeeds.

I remember when i was 4 there was a daycare dance concert and all the kids received presents from their parents so i got my hopes up hoping that i will get one too. I was very sad when i found out i didnt get a thing. The worst part was that we had to wait for a cab cuz someone else was using our car so we had to wait about 25 mins for the cab and i had to watch other kids open their presents for 25 mins. I went home in tears.

I lost any little respect I had for my irresponsible "dad" when he left my mother in her last twenties with 3 kids in charge, no money (as in his thirties he still didn't have a job and was still in college), my retired grandmother and my dying grandfather (in a coma for weeks after a heart attack) because "he didn't think he could handle their kids".
