    Very curious where you put the 50lbs. (I am betting in the front wheel strut) Great job. Thanks for the relevant up-to-date information. Good job as always.

    Hi Evan, those are two great-looking birds. With regard to the O2 equipment, why not attach the equipment like you showed, by the seats, but wire the controls to the panel. Sort of like you did with the overhead panel. That way, you have easy access to both units.

    • @EvanBrunye

      That would be cool for sure

    • @OneAlphaMike

      The units currently don’t lend themselves to remote control. Otherwise that would be a great idea!

    • @antoniog9814

      @@OneAlphaMike Who's talking about remote control? It's just wiring the unit controls from the units to the panel.

    • @OneAlphaMike
      @OneAlphaMike 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@antoniog9814 That’s what I’m talking about, wiring it so it can be controlled remotely from the panel. There was a company (Windblade) that was putting out info about how to do that. It required more hacking than you might think, voiding the concentrator warranty. More trouble than it’s worth.

    Try some forward slip tests with the new static port locations, if you haven’t already. ok I see you’re saying it’s actually the old/original location but just with a raised profile that the rivet provides?

    • @EvanBrunye
      @EvanBrunye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edit is correct!

    • @ericlaw2416
      @ericlaw2416 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EvanBrunye That's great, makes me wonder if there's still a way to get Mike's adjusted with a different raised profile. Depends on how much you want to mess with it. Thinking out loud - higher reading=lower pressure = more venturi-effect going on. Perhaps the same thickness profile but with a narrower opening might help.

    Soo, putting static ports further away from the prop reduces the effect of prop wash on indicated airspeed. Makes sense :-)
    Cessna does it the "first way" but... I think the Cessna's airspeed indicator might also be reading a bit high and everyone just kinda accepted it?

    • @EvanBrunye
      @EvanBrunye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s actually a much more complex problem to solve than just looking at prop wash vs no prop wash, it requires a very detailed model of the plane and running cfd analysis to get close, and then from there it’s just some voodoo magic. I’m not doing anything other than testing the recommended methods and reporting the results I see

      No, but with the parachute installed some loading conditions can be helped with the counterweight up front

    I’d be interested in hearing how the concentrators work after a few years of use. The manufacturer lists the life at 5 years, and with annual column changes and recommended weekly filter cleaning (probably a function of use there), is it reliable enough and worth it over a tried and true tank system? Any issues with RF coming off of it?

    • @OneAlphaMike
      @OneAlphaMike 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a colleague who’s been using one for well over 5 years, currently in his TSi and in his Mooney before that. It’s still going strong. He switched to the concentrator after many years of filling his own bottle system.
      Haven’t noticed any RF issues, either.

    • @EvanBrunye
      @EvanBrunye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The manufacturer makes them for people to use all day every day, so the numbers you’re seeing are based off that. I’ve been using mine for a year totally trouble free, and as One Alpha Mike says there are people who have been using these for years trouble free. Also keep in mind I didn’t say this is the definitive best oxygen route you can possibly go, I just said this is my preferred method when all things are considered.

  • @mrosiens
    @mrosiens 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Evan, this is purely uneducated speculation…
    Do you know if there’s a preferred side of the aircraft to place that port? I’m just thinking bumpy air makes small changes to pitch, p-factor yaws you slightly to the left and you get some dynamic pressure error on the right side static port? Then again, I’m a very inexperienced pilot in an old Cessna so I imagine my flights are bumpier than the average lol

    • @EvanBrunye
      @EvanBrunye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ports are on both sides of the plane

  • @rob_smith
    @rob_smith 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for sharing all of your TSi knowledge! For the static ports are you using 4.8mm rivets or something else? And I assume they are just glued in place or do you somehow squeeze the rivet and then remove the mandrel? Looking to add these to my plane before the interior is finished up!

    Even, we all think you did a good job with your plain and want to congradulate you on that. However, I think we can all agree that the name of the plain is lack luster at best. Putting numbers in it is reminisent of the war and pastor says you shouldnt bring up old feelings when you need a new slait. Maybe something like dragon
