  • While isolation movements have their place, they cannot compare to compound exercises for building muscle.

    I’m glad I did compound only lifts, first while natural as I dirtybulked. I realized years later however that all my lagging parts needed so to speak “touch up” work with isolation, and it’s now so easy to make further mini gains

    Injuries forced me to get back into it slowly, and I built a more shredded, detailed physique with the fluffy stuff, however, I've put on serious size by doing the true hard shit, compound IS king.
    The body only grows when put under more duress than what it is used to, and compound is the best way to get size, 💯
    Beyond failure, forced reps, get a partner

    Unless you’re extremely lucky, your joints will slowly lose durability regardless of if you lift heavy or not. I feel like it’s important that you do the heavy lifts while your joints still feel indestructible. There are workarounds but as Tom Platz once said “why do an inferior movement compared to squats.”
    That’s the thing I miss most about lifting when I was younger. Heavy squats without having to worry about my knees.

      Periodizing training between high intensity and high volume will help can't lift heavy for months on end.

    I usually train alone. Is there a trick I can use to mimic the effects of failure. Maybe smith machine?

    • @cdubs2697
      @cdubs2697 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I train alone as well and I can go to failure on pretty much everything. For bench, you just go till you can barely get the weight up and I mean barely, like one more rep and you’d be stuck.. that’s all you need. A smith would definitely assist with that for sure though!

    • @visheshdeepgautam
      @visheshdeepgautam ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I don't train alone but even at my gym I never take support or spotter or ask the trainers.
      So the exercise variations I choose are the ones safer for training alone. Like I do Dumbbell Incline Presses, with Smith Machine it is even more safer but in my gym it is usually busy even if I arrive there the first.
      Also, You must do Squats on Smith or if not smith, then do it on Squats rack with safety build, where you can rest the bar in the stretched position if you wanna go to true failure. Also, Instead of doing Chest Flies with Dumbbells or even Cables, do it on Pec Deck only. Same for rear delts too.
      Also, Completely withdraw from Dumbbell Pullover, that exercise is bs as it doesn't provide any resistance even for 3/4 range of motion, let alone in contracted position so there is no way to go to failure in there, it is only systemic fatigue that may stop you from doing reps, not the failure. Do Cable Pullovers only, you'll get the best lats of your life.
      I don't there's any other exercise that really stimulates growth you might be doing that may be causing you to not go to failure bcz of Fear of crashing down.

      Go to failure.
      If on bench just ask for a spot.
      If squat, use safety bars.
      Everything else you can go to failure with little danger. Just keep ur ego in check.

  • @abethemudokon8226
    @abethemudokon8226 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This is probably a stupid question: but, does it matter what the weight is when going to failure? Example: does 30 reps of 10kg give the same stimulus as 15 reps of 20kg? Providing both of those sets go to absolute failure?

    • @jamesbland8907
      @jamesbland8907 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes. You get more out of the heavy sets, force = mass x acceleration. That being said your muscles requires more and more mass to accelerate heavier and heavier weights (force) during a movement. You need big muscles to move big weight it’s essential if you’re trying to get like he says “big big”, but the best is a combination of the two. Provided that were wondering what’s going to get you the most gains.
