    Thoss boilers are not designed for enclosed spaces. The problem isnt tbe flue its the vents in the side of the main body that directly vents down to the gas burners in it.

    Rogue bananas in with the non-perishables! 😄 Plenty of room for another spice rack or two above the coffee machine. Maybe swap the books with the washing 👍 How often do you have to top up your water? It's worth getting a spare 10L supply for emergencies

    • @NickyandHarri
      @NickyandHarri  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oooo, some cracking ideas Jd, we need to move the washing for sure, and some extra spice racks would never go a miss! Think we top up water every 3/4 days at the moment, it could easily last us a week to be honest, but because water is so accessible we’re not using it sparingly!! 😅👊🏼

    One thing I've never been able to find out is once you've finished the conversion and got all your stuff in there and fully fuelled how much does it weigh? Luton vans are designed for carrying bulky stuff not really heavy stuff and I'd be worried about going over the 3.5t weight limit.

    • @stephenperkins3247
      @stephenperkins3247 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      too much, which is why they were waved over, weighed and had to rip the kitchen unit out and leave it on side of the road and drive off to pay their fine.. Know your Payload before you purchase a Luton, plan every little bit you will install and use and get each bits weight..stay away from all this heavy recycled timber lining, timber framing and wooden doors..and kitchen units of course lol use aluminium struts, H beams etc for framework and light ply, for aesthetics use tie-dyed material or self adhesive stuff, for kitchen and other upboards, upboards, use light dry pine framing and light ply, make cupboard doors sliding with a finger hole to open and close, rather than recycled timber, handles and Ikea kitchen units etc, worktop, use something thin and light, like laminated ply..bed, dont use one, buy FROLI STAR MOBILE BED SYSTEM or one of the many similar systems, basically a click together plastic system that takes the place of a bed, to hold your mattress while allowing air to flow under it and is extremely light..and take it to the nearest weight station before, during and after and finally, pay for the printed report on your final weigh ;)

    love this, i honestly have a question with the vanlife thing, and that is actual usage costs per month living 'off grid'. keeping groceries aside.
    i even have seen some super-saver showerheads.
    but, in your case, i know it's for two people, let's keep that up.
    how much diesel do you consume a month for heating from let's say september to march?
    how much fresh water do you use each month, and where do you refill, and how much does that cost you?
    how much propane/butane do you consume (if that's what you use for heating), and how much does that cost each month
    how much does the electricity last you with the batteries in winter?
    where do you park for free without getting issues with the government for such a sized vehicle?
    how much does the entire setup weigh? and how much is the fuel consumption?
    how much do you pay for internet and how fast is that?

    Im not sure wether to build a camper with a Xlwb or a luton. Out of experience is the extra space in the luton much more significant than your sprinter?
    In terms of driving which is easier?

    Love this van! We aren’t upgrading our LWB Renault master campervan just yet but when we do I really want to covert a Luton! I am worried about the weight though, would we need to upgrade our license to drive one of these? Or could we do it all within the 3.5t limit? Thanks in advance 😊

    • @NickyandHarri
      @NickyandHarri  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey guys, thanks so much! 🙌🏻 Weight was one of our concerns, but we’ve managed to stay under the 3.5T limit, so haven’t needed an extra license! Bare in mind we have LOTS of heavy stuff in here, like our kitchen, but we’re only travelling for 3 months (so don’t carry a house full of storage stuff!). Bottom line is, I wouldn’t be too worried about it! I hope this helps 😅

    • @NickyandHarri
      @NickyandHarri  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Carl!! Hmmm that’s a hard question - I reckon if we wanted to live in the Luton full time then maybe we’d have the bed with a garage under it, to have more storage. But since we are just part time travellers- it’s enough space for now!

      @@NickyandHarri you’re welcome. Wondered, that as f I ever converted one, would it be worth having a small trailer of water in tow. That then affects the fuel use no doubt, but may extend the water duration. Also, a system to put the dirty water into a tank on the trailer. 🤔

    hey guys - Does the 240v fridge run constantly from your inverter? does it drain much power from your battery's??

    • @NickyandHarri
      @NickyandHarri  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bud, it does run constantly, to give you a rough idea (we have a 200ah Lithium battery) and it takes about 8% of its charge to run it over night! Definitely manageable with a DC-DC and solar!
