Heres what people dont understand you aint paying for the haircut. You paying for that barbers time slot. If you go to a very reputable shop or barber if they arent dumb they gonna charge you a premium price for their time. Its simple supply and demand. For the record I charge 60$ and 15$ for beard work. I started at 25$ haircuts when I first started. When I got super booked to the point where people kept calling or messaging me if I could get them in all the time I raised my price to 35$ because the demand was so high. When I raised it I lost a few people so it opened up my books so I wasnt so busy all the time. And guess what happened? Eventually I got booked up all the time again and i had new clients that were happy to pay me the 35$. I raised it another 10bucks when I got super busy again until eventually i got to what I charge now. My motto is if you are too busy you are too cheap because the demand has gotten so high that your service should match the demand. If you have a limit that you wont go over no matter how good a barber is thats fine everyone can spend their money on whatever they want. I see a lot of people complaining about how much barbers charge but in reality prices are all based on what area you are in and what the demand is for their service and what kind of business they want to run. If you live in LA 100$ haircuts are not uncommon at all because the cost of living in that area is super pricey. Barbers gotta eat too.
I think it just depends on the shop and the barbers in there bc theres white barbers that dont know how to cut course hair and some black barbers that barber know what they’re doing w straight hair

Go to barber school. They give you a kit once you hit a certain amount of hours. Fafsa pays for school. Win win situation. Im currently 300 hrs in. 700 hrs to go.
