A bit long of a response but... Doom is the ultimate actualization of power fantasy. Ego and lack of genuine love and empathy concluding with the realizing that the thrill of fulfilling ruthless, self-centered ambition was the only reason why he bothered. He only did it to validate what his self-righteous values were, even if yes they had vast positive effects on the people he conquered. But seeing as that ego of his is also fueled by insecurity and envy brought on by a terrible upbringing, its not just about fulfilling ego, but protecting what was probably the only thing he's ever had in his life that was secure. He's still a human at the end of the day. And I know that gets thrown around a lot, but when you consider the scope of his psyche and how it's been shaped and affected, it really gives him that sense of humanity that makes his greatest triumphs enviable, while also never letting him off the hook because its that same humanity that torments him. But that lack of love, that emptiness filled only by the need to go out and conquer, to continuously validate his own ego; that's his ultimate failure. His greatest successes are gonna be the ones that will haunt him the most because he lacks the greater vision and the heart to truly appreciate how far he has come. Also the choice of Hollow Knight music is superb. Excellent work, mate.

MASTERPIECE. This analysis is a masterpiece. When you give Doom a chance, you realize what Lee, Kirby, Ditko, Shooter, Hickman and dozens and dozens of Marvel creatives attest to right down to Joe and Anthony Russo and Kevin Feige -- Doom is EASILY Marvel's best and greatest supervillain. Behind the iron mask is the heart of a lion... but also CRUSHING self-loathing. Doom is miserable. Thank you.
Doom was and still is always one of the coolest villians in Marvel. I know he would he is THE coolest, but the other villians, especially Magneto would debate him on that.
*Doctor Doom will always be Marvel's Greatest Villain.* Doom is such a multifaceted and incredibly complex villain with a lot of nuances to him as he is a man who truly believes he's the hero of his story and has to prove to the universe that he is that hero the universe needs to truly make a better world, but only under his guidance and rule. His absolute undying hatred and rivalry with Reed Richards are fascinating and layered since they are similar and could've been good friends. However, Doom's fragile ego and nihilism denied that opportunity as he denied any help from others, including Reed, who saw that Victor made a mistake in his university project; sadly, Victor was blinded by his own pride and arrogance to even consider the notion of making a mistake thus becoming his quintessential hubris as the machine exploded scarring him for life and causing him to mentally snap as he could no longer fix what was already broken both physically and mentally. Victor hated that someone like Reed could be superior to him when he had had to put everything on the line to prove himself to others like the Latverian who oppressed and killed his Romani people, including Victor's father and forced his mother into witchcraft, thus cursing her eternally to Hell. As you said, Reed came from a loving father who encouraged his son's love for science, becoming a renounced scientist and explorer, arguably the most intelligent man in the universe, a beloved superhero, a man with a loving wife, children, friends and family. In contrast, Victor came from nothing and lost both his parents at the hands of a cruel monarch, as he had nothing but his unfathomable will to persevere the impossible and take back his country from oppression, become a master of science and magical arts, study every form of knowledge he could and grow an empire under his dominion, and yet none of that ever truly made him happy as he remains sad, alone and bitter surrounded by a country that may love him but never the world and is forced to create soulless robotic clones of himself to stroke his own ego but never truly fill that empty gaping void in his heart. As such, Doom would rather wipe out the universe than ever have the strength to admit that Reed Richards is, in fact, a better man than him, and what was even more sadder is how Victor, deep down knows this as Reed has always believed Victor could've been better than what he was, which is as frustrating for Doom than any physical amount of torture he could ever endure. I especially have always loved how Victor mastered both magic and science as his father was a doctor and his mother was a secret witch. Yet, he combines them both, showing how unbreakable his will truly is to achieve the impossible. Doom may be an egomaniac, but he's still someone who genuinely cares about his people and will go to whatever extent to protect them as he leads the revolution that liberates Latveria from oppression, even making deals with the actual devil to try and save his mother from damnation, not to mention he literally became God in the Marvel Universe etc... *Doctor Victor Von Doom truly Marvels Definitive Villain*
im not going to lie, i feel like if you did a dandadan video i would watch it over and over, you always seem to much farther into characters, the video that caught my eye in particular is your Toji video, a wonderful look into his thoughts, past, and how said past effects him at the moment of his end. I think there is a much deeper meaning in Dandadans characters, not to different from jjk. I love your content man, keep it up
I love how even though he’s a selfish, monstrous egomaniac, his controlling and condescending nature is all just to his self-loathing and pathetic self who wants people to love and appreciate but cannot show weakness
The irony of the soundtrack for the video is wonderful imo. Humor me: Victor Von, Dr. Doom, King of Latvaria, haa also been like the most prideful menance in the Marcel Universe. Someone who always tries to stand out, be the best, have or earn the most and highest titles; in other words, he always tries to make a name for himself. The song towards the ends, comes from the Dark Souls games, the 1st one I believe. Its name: "Nameless Song". Brilliant.
I like Doom's presence and how he's always observing what's around him to know his enemies. He does boast a lot. As he said saying he's better or above everyone else. Projecting his insecurities. Ive seen every adaptation of Doom in media from F4, to the animated shows, and Ultimate Alliance the video game. My favorite version is in EMH. For the small amount we get of him he brings that presence. Doesn't talk as much which is more frightening. He dismantles both teams when they come through with the slightest effort and figured out the Skrull invasion before they do. Doom always feels he's above everyone else and wants to show he's the best option. Him and Tony are similar but where they differ i feel Doom never learns humility. He cares for his people and nation but his ego gets in his way. Tony has been humbled numerous times and he learns from it. With him coming SW in the MCU and RDJ playing him i just need them to show they are all insignificant to him. No one challenges him. We need to see relationship between him and Reed if SW is going to be successful. Don't really care about the other heroes because he looks like Tony. It can be plot point but not the main plot. They messed up with plans for the F4 and Doom. I understand they didn't have the rights but all they had to is make Latveria a neigboring country to Sokovia. He's been hidden and keeping his eyes on everything. F4 trapped in the Quantum realm for decades. I really hope we see Doom done right in the end. Good video man.
Thats what i love about doom. He can easily be foe and friend. He can be untrustworthy and honorable. He can just as easily save the world ot conquer it. Say what you will about him, doom keeps your interest and attention.
Doom is the ultimate supervillain by not being super. Everything he has he does not start out with: he earns it. In vile ways, yes, but they are still his spoils of war. Handed nothing he is a human being who has made Gods his inferior time and time again.
Seriously, the greatest villain of Marvel for how he...is everything a villain should be. Everything that makes Marvel "Marvel", as despite all he has done...he is still just a man. And has flaws, has wrongs. Yet, he is DOOM.
Fuck no. Not only Dr. Doom would despise Griffith and his actions(especially during and after Eclipse), he would destroy Griffith and God Hand like it is Tuesday for him(probably is) and make Idea of Evil his bitch by the end of the week. Do not desecrate Doctor Doom's name.
Ah Doctor Doom is probably my favorite Marvel villain ever. He is the GOAT. Anyways I always feel that Doctor Doom was the best marvel villain ever. A man who was egotistical but a man who prove his points. He is a boss who can back up who he is. Destroy Thanos. Doom. Take over Latveria and rule it with an iron fist. Doom. Stolen the Beyonder Powers because he can. Doom. Teamed up with Eddie Brock and Venom of all things and said crossover worked. Doom. Man who was a better caregiver to Reed's child. Doom. But deep down the man behind the mask Viktor was a fragile man. Viktor is the most egotistical person ever and his own power is his own personal weaknesses and biggest flaw. He believes he is special yet while the Fantastic Four are flawed they genuinely cared for each other. Doom tries to justify he can do well he is still unable to let go of his hatred towards Reed Richards. Reed may be petty at times but he learns from his mistakes and accidents. Reed knows he isn't perfect and he knows it's complicated but he can grow to be human. Unfotuntaely Doom didn't. He just carries all that pettiness deep down towards Reed because to him Reed was everything he was not. Reed had a better family and childhood while he didn't have anything. And its a shame because Doom isn't pure evil he did good deeds. He literally did well in shaping Latveria to be a stable country. Defended his nation and did well as a ruler. Then he took over helping Reed's child Laveria and raised her right. He tried to save his mom from Mephisto despite the odds. And he became Iron Man when Tony was unavailable and he took it seriously. It's just a shame he just wants to one up Reed unable to understand he is too egotistical. He is unable to fix himself and everytime he doesn't do well Reed has to help him save his butt. Doctor Doom never learn a lesson and yet maybe out of all the Marvel villains he could've been a superhero. But overall in the end Doom's own weakness is himself. He will always be second place towards Reed Richards because he is just an insecure brat. I guess that's why people love Doom. He is intellecutal and he knows he's smart. He has the best AWESOME moments because he has the audacity to prove himself. The irony that Doom has everything wealth, powers, and health but the only thing he lacked was..self love. So overall Dr. Doom tries to walk the walk and while he does prove it he is still a human being. And that makes him one of the best Marvel villain or maybe one of the best villains in fiction of all time. Also Doom has a youtube channel called Straight At Latveria. So he's definitely a GOAT. Check it out.
Dr Doom is a fixed point in every universe cause for he can not be Doom the other characters will never let him try to be a better person. So his only option is to be an archvillian and actually is able to acheive fear and respect over Latvaria.

That RDJ casting is one of the dumbest decisions they’ll make basically linking the former face of their universe to Doom, and just reducing him to an evil Iron Man. Everything complex, interesting, and intriguing about Doom will be undercut, and he doesn’t deserve that at all. The Greatest marvel comics villain of all time deserves a Saga that goes for a couple phases, and basically revolves around him. Deeply saddening he won’t be what he’s supposed to.

Ironically, due to the fallacy of democracy in our reality, more and more people found the idea of a Doom like autocrat…appealing. You can’t argue he’s an effective ruler, and sometimes that’s all you ask for.
