Growing up, I remember my dad being so miserable on family trips. Amusement parks, water parks, camping. As a kid I couldn’t understand why my dad wasn’t having the time of his life. Now that I’m a dad, I totally get it. That man ignored lower back pain and sacrificed his hard earned vacation time to ensure us kids had the time of our lives. Hats off to all the dads out there and their efforts to make great memories.

I realized I only like watching comedians who aren't putting on an "act" when they're doing their stand up. Bill Burr, Louis CK, Robin Williams, Jim Breuer. All stand ups who behave the exact same way on and off stage. That's why his live podcast is so good, him talking as himself is literally him doing a stand up act.
People aren't even laughing that hard because it's such a real nightmare many of us have lived. I hope Bill does standup for another 30 years, I could listen to him all day.
Pro tip for a day at universal. Look up what day of the year has the least amount of people in there and go on that day. My girlfriend took me after doing the research and we had zero lines on any ride from the morning until right after lunch. We just went from ride to ride, no lines for hours. Awesome experience!

I’m so glad that my kids were able to experience and enjoy Disneyland before it became a progressive crowded and overpriced nightmare. Today I would avoid all things Disney.

I think every person, at some point in their life, whether it’s childhood, teen years, adulthood whatever, realizes that no ride is worth the wait and it makes the entire concept of amusement parks stupid
I was about 12 or 13 when I realised I was only getting about 10 actual rides after spending the entire day at my local amusement park. Once I got to the age where I had to start buying my own tickets I basically never went back. And this was just a small park in the Midwest. I can't even imagine the nightmare of a park like Disney or Universal.
If there are enough people to keep the park open: its not worth it. If the park is dying and prolly has 5 years tops left, its a great place to visit on a weekday on a day off and then ride all the rides with 5 minute waits or less :D.
We went in June and this good man tells no lies. Just people right up next to each other, people cutting, no water fountains in the line, just pure misery.

I went on that mario ride twice, once waiting for over an hour. The second time someone gave me a priority pass to jump the line, the wait was 70min, I took an elevator up the ride, skipped everybody and went all the way straight to the room for ride in a total of 5min. Worth the wait.
I basically went through this same ordeal at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World Orlando for the Star Wars Rise of the Resistance Ride. The ride was sick but it was like an hour and a half of just slowly death walking into a slaughterhouse. It was unreal.

I went to Disney World in Florida on New Year’s Eve 1986. It was freaking horrible. There were extenuating circumstances involving family on what I’ve come to call, “THE VACATION FROM HELL” but the pouring rain and long waits combined with lots of Slice soda made it absolutely terrible.
I remember Slice soda. Do they still make that? I was in DisneyWorld in 1995. Looking back, I would have had more fun there by myself. But, alas, I was there with my bride of three days on our honeymoon. What a waste of time and money. But at least I got to meet Donald Duck!

Theme Park lines are a special form of misery. It's how you know that you're an adult, when you only agree to going to a Park on a Wednesday and arrive before the park opens. It amazes me the number of families I witnessed arriving at Orlando parks after lunch. It's like they must enjoy standing motionless in baking sun and 100% humidity for 2 hours at a time. Get there midweek, as the gates open. Run to the best rides. Ride them twice ..... and get the hell out of there by lunch time.

As someone who never grew up with amusement parks, the first time I flew from Australia to California when I was 17 to Goto Disneyland/World in Anaheim I was absolutely shattered at the wait times for the rides. Eventually I just accepted the point of the parks are the scenery and people watching. They are Human Zoos. Just go there and watch what's around you.

I laughed to full tears for ten minutes straight at this. Having done it a few months ago, I found the story shockingly accurate. Even my kids who were primarily motivated to even go based on the Mario ride got out and said it wasn’t worth it. They said it would be with a short wait but otherwise no.
The only time I’ve ever been to DisneyWorld was at Christmas. Went with 4 women who all got their periods; their periods synced up. Was trapped down there 4 days.
I was that one guy, on the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney, the ride broke down for like 2 hours and then when they repaired it they just started letting in group after group of Fastpass people while the rest of us just stood there and watched for another hour and at one point I I snapped and started yelling at the Fastpass people as they walked by 😅
Oh my God I’m crying . I had the same fking experience and I wanted to yell at the people running this horrible park! I took my ex boyfriend for his birthday. He was excited , I was not , because I drove through the LA traffic and didn’t rest enough . I always wanted children but being stuck for almost 3 hours in that ride took away my desire of becoming a mother , and made me feel like a terrible human being . I love you Bill! I don’t feel alone anymore 😂.
I was falling asleep, HARD, could BARLEY keep my eyes open at universal after day drinking, a lot, through the morning and afternoon but I was waiting for my family in a different part of the park to finish their bullshit until we could leave. So I was just walking by myself like a zombie in the midday Sun and getting onto any ride I could so that the adrenaline could keep me awake (I should also mention that earlier in the day I had tried like 4 times to climb this Jurassic park rock climbing wall and nearly had a heart attack cause I just refused to give up in front of my nephew lol) Eventually while zombie shuffling onto any ride I could I unknowingly got into the line of the newly built Hagrid motorbike ride at Hogwart land place, the digital sign entering the line said like “15” or somthin which I took to mean like wait time, but I guess that pertained to fast pass or maybe actually just the amount of strokes you will have while waiting in this ungodly 2.5 hour line. And every.fuckin.time you think you’re coming on the end you turn and see a new snake of the line after another 30 minutes of standing like it’s the fuckin military, or more like solitary confinement cause there’s absolutely nowhere to sit or lay, or do anything other than stand and you have to leave your belongings in a little locker before you get in line, so without my phone or watch you have no sense of time, you just turn and see another room with more snakes of line. I, without sarcasm, fully think that experience is something the seals should include as a part of hell week.

Pro-tip - take the ‘single rider’ queue - you get the same ride experience just not sitting next to your loved one but it’s worth it for saving 2 hours of queuing
To be fair, those rides where never meant to hold hundreds of people in the line, the art of pre shows during attractions is lost because they where built to keep a steady, moving line of people, a reasonable amount of people by the way, but as the population grows, more and more people come into the parks and it’s just not built for that purpose, they flood the lines, plus Disney pushing payments to skip lines which in turn effects the regular line and the whole system becomes one giant mess, it sucks but that’s the world we live in.
Bill burr could literally put out an hour of this, call it a comedy special, and it’d be amazing still. I love every rant he goes on because it’s so relatable to my anger and everyday struggles.

I laughed to full tears for ten minutes straight at this. Having done it a few months ago, I found the story shockingly accurate. Even my kids who were primarily motivated to even go based on the Mario ride got out and said it wasn’t worth it. They said it would be with a short wait but otherwise no.

I was that one guy, on the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney, the ride broke down for like 2 hours and then when they repaired it they just started letting in group after group of Fastpass people while the rest of us just stood there and watched for another hour and at one point I I snapped and started yelling at the Fastpass people as they walked by 😅

Fastpass is such a scam, the waits are as long as ever except now people spend most time waiting outside the rides and the parks are crazy crowded.

Oh my God I’m crying . I had the same fking experience and I wanted to yell at the people running this horrible park! I took my ex boyfriend for his birthday. He was excited , I was not , because I drove through the LA traffic and didn’t rest enough . I always wanted children but being stuck for almost 3 hours in that ride took away my desire of becoming a mother , and made me feel like a terrible human being . I love you Bill! I don’t feel alone anymore 😂.
I was falling asleep, HARD, could BARLEY keep my eyes open at universal after day drinking, a lot, through the morning and afternoon but I was waiting for my family in a different part of the park to finish their bullshit until we could leave. So I was just walking by myself like a zombie in the midday Sun and getting onto any ride I could so that the adrenaline could keep me awake (I should also mention that earlier in the day I had tried like 4 times to climb this Jurassic park rock climbing wall and nearly had a heart attack cause I just refused to give up in front of my nephew lol) Eventually while zombie shuffling onto any ride I could I unknowingly got into the line of the newly built Hagrid motorbike ride at Hogwart land place, the digital sign entering the line said like “15” or somthin which I took to mean like wait time, but I guess that pertained to fast pass or maybe actually just the amount of strokes you will have while waiting in this ungodly 2.5 hour line. And every.fuckin.time you think you’re coming on the end you turn and see a new snake of the line after another 30 minutes of standing like it’s the fuckin military, or more like solitary confinement cause there’s absolutely nowhere to sit or lay, or do anything other than stand and you have to leave your belongings in a little locker before you get in line, so without my phone or watch you have no sense of time, you just turn and see another room with more snakes of line. I, without sarcasm, fully think that experience is something the seals should include as a part of hell week.
The cuts here and there made it for me. Especially when I tried to position the pillows 😅

To be fair, those rides where never meant to hold hundreds of people in the line, the art of pre shows during attractions is lost because they where built to keep a steady, moving line of people, a reasonable amount of people by the way, but as the population grows, more and more people come into the parks and it’s just not built for that purpose, they flood the lines, plus Disney pushing payments to skip lines which in turn effects the regular line and the whole system becomes one giant mess, it sucks but that’s the world we live in.
