I have a black 1964 Mk10 3.8. Havn't driven it since about 1995. After rebuilding the engine, I only put about 1000 kms on it! Must get it out and get it running again.

I've just bought a 68 420g. Just a superb motor car. Best jag I've ever owned. Look,n forward to next years show season.

Seen as a bit of a boulevard cruiser by the traditional jaguar set but I can assure you this was one of the most refined jaguars ever made

My father owned a mk 10. Second owner as originally owned by lord Marples, minister for transport at the time. Beautiful car, absolute luxury.

My Dad's business partner had one of these Jags from brand new when I was a small boy. I remember going for a ride in the absolute luxury of the era. I still love the shape of the car and all the wood grain interior.

Very similar story; my dad's mate had one back in the very early '70s and he took us (my dad and my brother) for a ride one evening around the West End of London. Unforgettable experience for a small boy!

Great video! Don't know why you removed the gorgeous sound of the six-cylinder 4.2 Jaguar engine and replace it with techno music, though.

eekamoose Probably because the black and white source material came with music and no engine sound, not too sure about the colour stuff but my recollection of that car was that the exhausts kept engine noise pretty muted under normal conditions.

probably the audio was wind noise and rattles. Hard to record engines at speed....

The Jaguar MK Ten has a Heigh of 54.5 in (1,384 mm)
This is what distinguished jaguar from other Super Sedans, they made a true Super Sport Sedan, full luxury, as low as possible!
As mentioned, 265Hp for a 4 Liters, is quite remarkable, even with a weight of 1900 Kilos.
In this case, the brakes make half the Car.
Wish U many Joy, with this precious gem !

was that Harry Enfield narrating?! Awesome car but by god they took some risks test driving "on the continent"! Wonderful to see Silver City Airways! Stunning car, even today.

I love the Mk10, so elegant. The Daimler V8 4.5 should have been used though as it was lighter and had more torque. I had a Corgi model when I was in short pants.

265hp back then must've seemed staggering. Not bad from 4.2 litres for the day either. The black test car does look a little like the evil car from the film The Car. I often think of Australia when I think about the mkX because Libby Kennedy's husband drove one on Neighbours lol.

I remember in the 70'‘s around the fuel crisi you could not give them away typically around 1500 GBP in those days a lot of car for the money the XJ6 was preferred by then, also normally in the UK only "wide boys" drove MK10/420G

Lovely white example but damn put those mirrors up in the correct "wing" position. They're just not right mounted on the doors.

    • @gjmob

In Australia, they had to be fitted to the doors only.

Affectionately known as the Big Cat ,my first boss bought one when they first came out it was metallic blue and looked stunning and then the problems started Oh Dear the automatic Gearbox, all four wheel bearings the power stearing and he always had problems with the exhaust system the list just went on so he got rid and went on to Mercedes. It was a bad job and a complete one of.My self the MK10 has been my 2nd favourite car and if my garage was big enough I would love one parked next to my Rolls Shadow 2

This is a really interesting video, well done. My initial reaction was to click off during the strange electro-music intro montage, but I'm glad I checked a little further on before dismissing a fascinating story. I recommend you update the soundtrack.

It was the mk2 that was Grace space and pace not mk10

    • @MagnusMaximusinWales
      @MagnusMaximusinWales 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The advertising slogan 'Grace Pace Space' was being used way before the Mark II came along, (XK's and Mark VII for example). It was also used on the Mark II and on the Mark X amongst others of the period.
