This grading video is EXACTLY what I needed! I have been wondering for months how to do grading, or if Sketchup even does grading. Now I know. You saved me so much time and energy. Thank you.
Aboulutely! Designers will use SketchUp to calculate things like earth removal or back fill. All you need to do is make the geometry into a solid, and SketchUp will tell you the volume!
With these short videos we cannot go into depth on everythign we sho. Fortunately, there is a WHOLE video on that tool right here - th-cam.com/video/XC2QYbFY0QA/w-d-xo.html

Nice one Eric, loving the enlarged Icons for clarity. Thanks for the Video.
I didn't know that you can use Create from contour on curved edges.
Thanks Eric
Very timely thanks.
Perfect to help me create the bomb dumps for my model of a WW2 RAF base for flight sim.
Thanks Eric, I'm not scared to sandbox mow!
Right we used for Skateparks and Landscapes.
I immediately wonder if there's a way to calculate volumes, say between existing and new surfaces.

Now I finally know how to use Sandbox for grading!!
thank you.
Great stuff...as usual.
Can I use a topographic map to create a grading model?
Yes. There are different ways to start...CAD contours, height map, hand draw, etc
Awesome!
GREAT
You really just glossed over what Smoove can do and how to use it.
