  • 2024 Himalayan 450 City Ride Test - Does it work in City Traffic?
    #himalayan #himalayan450 #royalenfield
    I will check the low end torque, does it heat, does it knock and does it vibrate alot at city speeds.
    Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is a adventure bike available in 4 variants and 5 colours. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is powered by 452cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 39.47 bhp and a torque of 40 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Himalayan 450 bike weighs 196 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 17 liters.
    The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is the successor to the 411cc iteration of the motorcycle. It’s not an updated offering but a brand-new motorcycle that has been developed from the ground up. The new chassis, modern engine, and contemporary features now make it a more worthy contender to the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and Triumph Scrambler 400 X.
    While the bike retains a silhouette similar to the previous model, it looks sleeker and more athletic. Also, the new colour options lend it a fresh visual appeal. The new colour options include Kaza Brown, Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, Hanle Black and Kamet White.
    Underneath the new bodywork is an all-new 450cc engine. This is the first engine from Royal Enfield with liquid cooling and offers 40bhp and 40Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch as standard. Other features include a colour TFT screen with Google Maps and Bluetooth connectivity. Moreover, it also gets switchable ABS and ride-by-wire throttle.
    The Himalayan 450 weighs 196kg; a few kgs lighter than the 411 while the fuel tank capacity is increased to 17 litres. Talking about dimensions, the standard seat height of this ADV is 825mm but it can be decreased and increased significantly. Further, the ground clearance and wheelbase stand at 230mm and 1,510mm, respectively. As for the cycle parts, the Himalayan 450 rides on a 21-17-inch spoke wheel combination that is suspended Showa USD forks and a monoshock while braking is handled by a single disc at both ends.

    Honest review.. The bike lacks the low end of Triumph 400s which is very useful in City & esp Off Roading..

    • @nitishneo2
      @nitishneo2  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Triumphs have a better low end when compared. However this one gets better riding dynamics from what I have observed.

    Honestly, they could have simply given the 4+1 button system for navigation, just like we have on dukes or any other easy to operate. The pass button at the first finger. Horn and indicator as usual.
    On the right side, I don't think any changes are needed. Maybe the can like go back to push down to start, like we had in bikes 4-5yrs ago. Simple kill switch integrated with power start. Bcz as you can see at 8:53 , your muscle memory directly put your thumb at a place where power start button usually is present in rest of the bikes. Its in panic situations like this, where extra stress suddenly gets added and muscle memory saves the day.
    The bike already stands out from the rest of the crowd. RE team really didn't had to put in their common switchgear console for this bike.
    Edit : I wish these were backlit TBH

    Hello -- As you noticed I did face the heating issues on the test ride bike..What's your take/suggestion on it?

    • @nitishneo2
      @nitishneo2  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Heating is actually imperative on a high compression engine as this. However I found the heat to be manageable. It heats on the right foot and goes a bit up till knees.
      I even did a ride using sandals and I found it to be okayish.

    I think for the future, RE Will transition all its 350s on the Sherpa engine except for the bullet. So Bullet will be the cheapest on the J series engine and will be the starting point for new customers and then they can progress to 450 and the next set of buyers to 650. So set of buyers who are just into classic cult will choose a slower basic 350, and those who want a market-competitive product with some classic value will choose 450 and 650 as per their pocket and experience/need.

    Hi sir,
    I visited a RE showroom recently to book the himalayan, but at the time of booking the sales person told me that standard warranty which is coming with the bike, will only cover the engine, to avail the warranty for all parts you need to take the extended warranty. Is that true?

    • @nitishneo2
      @nitishneo2  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Generally that’s not the case. Ask them to give that in writing. However to update you, I took the extended warranty and RSA.

    • @JustAnAtheist
      @JustAnAtheist 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Showroom guys mislead a lot to increase the total amount of the vehicle(on road) and to boost sales of services , almost in all showrooms. So do the R&D part at home before visting the shwoorm, especially on services like RTO expense/insurance and insurance type, extended warranty, accessories pricelist etc.

    It's not suitable for city use. Triumph 400s are way better for city.
    Almost every 2 wheeler overtook you. To keep up Himalayan tires us out due to weight, tight clutch.
    Even Adv390 is relatively better in city due to light clutch and weight.

    • @nitishneo2
      @nitishneo2  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Okay, I have given my opinion. Now it’s upto you.

    • @akashpaul4925
      @akashpaul4925 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @quenchedfooty Do you own Adv 390 ?
      From the Adv 390 Owner perspective, New Himalayan is way more easier to ride in the City because of its ample amount of low end torque ( compared to Adv 390 ). My Adv is modified + FuelX
      Probably it doesn't provide enough torque compared to older Himalayan but compared to ADV 390 it's way more.
      I could easily get as low as 14 km/h in 3rd gear and pull it up, which is impossible in ADV 390 with clutch modulation.
