I got my license at 17 after taking a 25 hour driving course (lecture, behind the wheel, and observation).
9 years later, ive driven ~80k miles, accident and ticket free

Learned on a 5 speed manual. Took the test in my granddad's Ford LTD! Broughsn sedan!!! Land yacht! 3pt turn about, parallel park and all. Somehow passed the test on the 1st try. After all that, I should never be tmade to take another test again. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤣

I'm so old I had a driver's education class over the summer. Thanks LAUSD!

Nice! I came along just after that, but way before all the other stringent rules today. I did take 1 formal driving lesson, but my parents couldn't get the next lesson scheduled so I just went and took the test and PASSED! Guess I've felt a bit guilty as an adult which is why I've been taking courses ever since. 😂

In the late 1960's (yep, I'm old) I took driver training at Osborn High School in Detroit, which had a training course (traffic light included) on its campus.
At that point, any student of age in the public schools could take driver training at one of the high schools. The instructor was in the passenger seat of a large station wagon, and about four students took turns driving.

@@elbrog That's cool! Sounds like you had real driver's ed, too! Thanks for sharing and for watching!

    WWII Jeep!
Mechanical Brakes! Ranch land in Texas!
Promoted to a Jeep Wagoneer 2nd gen.
Power Brakes… no one told me. Everyone ate dashboard or Back seat 😂
I had the after school drivers ed.
You would be paired up with someone and the teacher.
Not to brag, but the instructor kept telling the other student to watch how I drove!
    It was a fun time.

@@Torsee I'm not surprised that you were the star of the class, Torsee. 💪🏾 Mechanical brakes are no joke! My dad had a '66 Mustang that didn't have power brakes and still owns a '31 Model A with mechanical brakes. Definitely a different driving experience. Nice to hear from you and thanks for watching!

First time behind the wheel, around 9-10 under the tutelage of my father. Occasionally would sneak out with the parent’s car when a young teen. (Not smart, but informative) Took drivers Ed in high school and got my license at 17. Taught myself how to drive a clapped out 4 speed manual old 7 Series BMW. I’m a very confident driver now as an older man, but drove like an absolute d-ckhead in my younger years.
