Good informative video. I married a Mexican woman originally from Guadalajara whom I met in the Austin Texas area some 22 years ago. We decided to move and live full-time in Bucerias Nayarit about 4 years ago after living here part-time for 18 years. I wouldn't trade marriage to her with any of the American women I was married to before, being married to a Mexican woman is the way to go. Yes, you are marrying into the whole family.
Michael reported the Mexican Family "clan" better than anyone else I have heard with this experience! I wish someone would have explained the phenomenon a little better to me YEARS ago... But since I am married to a Mexican family ( yes he got that part right) I have learned over the years that sometimes my in-laws are closer than any of my American family or friends! It's so crazy and fun! I must say that because of the way they celebrate loss ( Funerals) I have been learning to experience loss in a whole new way!!! My mother-in-law passed over 5 years ago and we still drop by her house and gather with family, friends and neighbors for food and games... it's like she never truly left!! I could go on and on about the closeness I feel with everyone... but YES thank you so much for this interview... I loved it!!!
Tell me about it. I've been married to my wife (from Monterrey Mexico) for 30 years and she has 5 brothers and 5 sisters plus her parents. All in all, when we have a get together, we do not need to invite friends because 70 of the immediate family will show up.
As a Mexican American, my parents send me with their parents to spend time with family in Mexico. My dad’s family is middle class and my mom’s is lower class. I remember when I spend time with my dad’s family. My sister and I were in a different house than my grandparents. I would wake up my sister to go to the restroom because it was on the other side of the house. I wasn’t used to seeing people coming in to clean the house during the day. My mothers side, we had to clean up after ourselves. I realized that even though my mother’s family’s status improved over the years, we still had to clean up. I remember I would hear the women outside broom outside of their homes signaling me to wake up. It was almost every single woman and young girl outside with their brooms. My grandmother and I would join them. It was almost rhythmic. But we had to clean the house by 12 because it was considered bad luck to clean afterwards. Almost every Mexican woman takes care of the household duties without consulting their husband because they view it as their responsibility so the husband doesn’t have to stress about it. There’s definitely cultural differences.
My Yucateca wife is the best . No tats. Conservative Catholic. Family values. We go to church often. Families are everything. Maje a Mexican woman your wife!!! I did too!! Best decision of my life. So far!! No debt. Living life!!🇲🇽🙏🙏🏁
Yes, he got lucky. Most men even in the US don't find a women who comes from money. You, are the bank I been there. And to speak of then a Mexican women in Mexico marrying a white foreigner wow , that's like 1 in a million so yes, he got lucky.
Hombre, boy do we share a similar story. I met my now ex wife on a flight from Seattle connecting through Salt Lake. I now date a Mexican woman and we see each other around every 3-4 months. Congratulations on the successful relationship and cheers!
If you want to conquer a Mexican lady, you have to approach her with good manners. The other day there was a young man, probably a foreigner, running on Reforma Avenue, Mexico City without a shirt. and I asked him if he was okay, if he hadn't been mugged or something like that. Obviously he wanted to show his physique that he's in good shape. So I told him that if you want to impress a cute Mexican girl then wear a nice shirt, some lotion, a good pair of shoes.
Ha ha ha Is different certainly. We have some special occasions. But is nice to get well dressed to address the lady you are interest in. The american culture have very important contributions to world, like jeans, t shirts, caps, that are universal clothes.@@AlmostRetiredinMexico
Another excellent and very insightful video Brighton. Thank you. Ill go follow Michaels channel as well. Ill be in PV for first time over Christmas and would like to visit one of the orphanages. Will look in to it.
Have fun in PV. I hope the orphanage visit works out. My video later today is with a woman who worked with orphanages in her professional life and retired to run a dog rescue in Mexico.
When you marry into a latino family you are marrying the entire clan. You will usyally be treated very well. The loyalty I felt toward my Latino family is everything to me. I am a gringa and married a Salvadoreno. The marruage didnt last a lifetime but I felt embraced by the family long after the divorce.
Not all Latinos are the same. Men from El Salvador are notorious for being unfaithful when married to Western women, I don't know the reason, I've known many cases like that. Perhaps is related to the degradation of society during the civil war that their country experienced at the end of last century, and all the gangs (maras) violence most recently. I'm a Mexican man who has lived in Canada, US and currently live in Australia, and everywhere I've been is the same story.
I've been hanging out with a lady from Columbia lately, and the language barrier isn't all that bad since I understand the normal stuff. And there is Goggle for the rest. I met her through my son who is dating her daughter. She just texted me about attending a birthday for a cousin's husband. As for marrying into the family, I'm a reformed bachelor, I think that I'll stay single. :)
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico No. No. No. It took awhile, but I now tend to agree with my 6 tear old self on the necessity of women in my life (or lack thereof). Had I just listened... :)
Darn, I thought you were going to talk about immigration. But I guess Jordan already has his residency. Next video maybe? Ive been married into a Mexican family for well over 20 years.
This is a very good video. Michael, he is so right on with all he is talking here about having a life with a Mexican women and all of her ok relatives. I was there but it was in CA USA. I got very close to marry but after my 5th year it was just to much even though this was in CA USA. Gosh, people almost walked in to your bedroom when you was hot and heavy trying to feel Love. I got home from work and about 20 Mexican people was sitting around and eating and drinking everything. Ok, I'm the one who paid for it all. Ok, I could have some stories but I'm keeping it low and slow. But ok, nothing wrong with it all but it is a lot of work a lot of money a lot of everything. So, I started thinking that ok, by having a life does it really need to be like this or can life be good also by just have a simple so much less people and also have Love, so after 5 years I said, sorry I can't deal with this anymore because I felt like a child in so many ways since also not speaking very good Spanish, and when they spoke and had a good time and laughing and sometimes hearing my name gosh, just like Michael here said, from time to time I heard my name but I did not really understand what they talked about gosh, I felt so alone so anyway, a big question is that ok WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE A GOOD LIFE ? Ok, we are all different and you can have less and do less and still have a life so anyway, a good video and interview. Hopefully Michael got to meet Juan Gabriel and Vicente Fernendez. I'm a big fan. I was in Guadalajara when Juanka died and also in Zapopan when our beloved Vicente Fernandez died. To all of us who are fans, we lost the best of the best so rest in peace as they say. Been an Elvis fan also been to many places about his life so rest in peace also Elvis. Back on the 16th wow, 46 years ago you left this life but we are glad that you did live and made all those everything as you did. The same goes for Juanka and Vicente. Ok, good luck to Michael I'm sure he has a good life so all the best to you. Viva La Vida Y Viva Guadalajara Y Mexico.
Yes, in Mexico family is very important! It’s way better than American culture, where the kids send their parents to retirement homes and leave their parents to be lonely! It’s sickening.
Not sure why you think that is American culture. People in every country on earth do this. The US does not have a monopoly nor even a penchant for doing this. Per capita, Americans may or may not do this no more frequently than people in any other country. This fact can be easily found through the World Health Organization (WHO) web site. Americans, over 350+ million of us, do not appreciate being stereotyped just as no country appreciates being stereotyped. In this case it is particularly offensive and announces that one is patently misinformed. Americans are a very tolerant nation but I’m going to call out this particular ignorance. Hope you are enjoying TH-cam, an American platform that you access at no cost. Take care. 🇺🇸
Time wise you request American timing or Mexican timing. If you say " American Time" ,in Mexico we know that you expect us sharp 5 minutes before the appointment time.
Married to a Mexican woman for over a decade. First marriage for both of us. I'd never do it again, getting married. Besides, there's no need for it now. I'm almost 60, My life is winding down. I feel it. I might have 3 or 5 years left. Best not get myself into another bad situation. Stay put, no divorce, just an early death and just let my wife have my federal government retirement pension. Then I'M OUT.
I hope you've got more than 3-5 years. But if that's it, then I hope you are retired already and enjoying what you have left. Sorry marriage didn't add happiness, but for many people being single works really well.
@MexicoAdventurer I'm 75! The night is young. I have 20 years of awesome living now and God willing until I get run over by a Lion. Gracias Dios. Love my wife!!
I can tell this poor guy doesn't speak much Spanish b/c he doesn't know what to expect, who will show up, etc. I lived that for a while. I advise that you keep a diary of these things b/c holidays will pop up that you don't expect and you may need to go to a cuurch or someone else's home, or need a gift, a certain type of gift. Si, a diary helps you immensely.
In Michael's case, he met a very conservative and educated people, proof is that his wife did not introduce him to the family right away, she was very carful about dating an American citizen. But, most regular Mexican ladies are eager to marry an American citizen for the reason of getting automatically a better life whether is in USA o here in Mexico. Today's Mexican society has changed so Mexican Ladies, they are now more liberal and independent and can choose whatever lifestyles fits better for them. Thanks, Casi Jubilado en Mexico!
Thanks for sharing. I saw that Jordan's fiancé said the same thing about not introducing him to her family until they were planning to get married. But I think everything is getting more liberal. And glad women can select their lifestyle.
I don’t agree with that, perhaps women with low income or no income at all would be eager to marry someone with a better economical situation regardless the nationality.
I'm curious how much the economy has changed in Mexico the last 3 years. Its gone to h*ll in the US. Food prices are astronomical and I know many who are spending 2 to 3 times what they dpent at the grocery 4 years ago. I keep my reciepts so I can go back and see the price changes.
Inflation is higher in Mexico than the US. It's getting less affordable (but still much more affordable than most of the US.) Plus the peso is very strong, so your dollar doesn't go as far as it used to.
I think it's normal to marry the family. You may not want too, but like eating favorite foods it won't always be agreeable. There may be times when a vay cay isn't just desirable but a definite necessity. Honestly I think my Mom likes my wife better than me. But way better then the alternatives. Unless you move from a southeastern state to a northwestern state (or similar) They'll always be next door or at most a flight away. So be thankful. Remember you could always be Alone. By yourself. Talking to the walls. And drowning quietly in self pity. Party hardy and Love the one you're with. P n D
@@danielsmith2447 ideally yes. But I’d rather speak with a bad accent than not speaking Spanish at all. There are lots of folks speaking English with an accent and that’s OK. But there are words that can be mispronounced due to an accent. Like farmacia, which gringos like to pronounce farmacía. I’m think of making a video about frequently mispronounced words. Can you share some?
Los comes to mind, a lot of people pronounce it 'loes', bueno they pronounce 'bwayno'. I don't mean to be critical but I'm a grammar nazi in English too.@@AlmostRetiredinMexico
To each their own, as the man of the house not knowing what your wife does or what is happening in your own house is not part of Mexican culture nor American
No name changes happen at marriage. You get a name at birth and keep it. If they had kids, the kids would have family names from both parents (with each contributing the family name from their father's side.) It's hard to explain, but actually simple.
Moral of this fantasy story is: if you marry a Mexican woman, make sure she comes from a wealthy highly educated family & is a college professor or attorney, so you'll never need to do any cooking, cleaning, gardening... It would be interesting to hear from someone who married into a poor family
This is a very interesting series of videos, your approach is very different and you let people speak for themselves and you certainly understand the art of the interview and have a specific grace with your editing style that so many TH-camrs lack. I thought it was ironic that you showed Jordan, at opening of the video. Those of us who watched him for several years watched all the changes he went through and how we became pretty annoying especially as he left one woman behind and announced to the whole world that he had the ultimate score he got himself a smart beautiful Mexican wife, though in an ugly-American sexist way, he presents her as being a trophy that he won in the race or something. Ironically she has probably 10 times more education and natural smarts than he does which makes him have to turn up the volume even more on his bravado and his thinly coated version of American macho. It’s pretty laughable sorry but if you have watched his videos over the years you’ll know what I’m talking about His approach to videos is very different he’s clearly about being monetized and one of those people that thinks his humor is laugh out loud when in reality it’s painful and unoriginal. So back to your series of videos I really like them I don’t always agree with some of the Americans who are talking about their life and lifestyle in Mexico, let’s face it most of us gringos on limited budget can live well in Mexico which makes us have an elite arrival in a country where many people still wait for Wednesday night so that they can go on a date to the movies when it’s two for one tickets. even at the low ticket prices at most cinemas in Mexico it’s still a reach for someone if they’re making $14 a day in Mexico they are not going to spend three dollars going to the movies, it would be like us spending 20 or $30 to go to the movies in the US. granted, with the price of concessions and tickets it has gotten expensive to do a date night at the movies in the US. I enjoyed the interview in this video, obviously this man is very well rehearsed because he’s probably told his story to several people it has a good flow to it and he tells it in the right kind of chronological order that made probably a lot easier for the editor. He’s very very right exactly what he said about “when you marry a Mexican you married their entire family including the ants to uncles or cousins and I found even the next-door neighbors. So I’ve never been married to a Mexican I’ve dated several and the formalities though they are casual or well defined and expected of you, they do not expect to adapt to American customs just because you’re at their family dinner table. One of the things I noticed And going to big family dinners in Mexico is that you can’t just stand up and say “well, I’m on my way thanks for the meal hugs to everyone bye-bye“ on the contrary, it can take you over an hour to leave since you’re going all the way around the table to shake hands with some family members give other family members hogs and of course all of the aunts and sisters want to kiss on the cheek and to be told how lovely their new dresses or whatever. Then you get around to one of the uncles who wants to tell you for the fourth time about the time he went to Chicago to work for three months and got to see for Chicago cubs games, the highlight of his life, yes Mexicans also have their bucket list. So you sit down and listen to that uncle story and then when you get up to leave you sometimes have to go around the circle a little bit more saying goodbye to people. Takes a bit of adjusting to get to you you have to be patient and you have to truly adore Mexico and love her people and prefer her customs over those in the US
It would be good to see if you can find an expat woman who married a mexican man. I will bet it is not easy to find! I think it works in favor of non-mexican men coming to find mexican women! But would love to see if you can find the opposite!
WOW... CONGRATS MICHAEL🥳 You married a non-tattooed non-radical and feminine woman.... Now that is a throw back in time.... Almost back to when women weren't mostly fat... 😊
In any of your interviews did the history of the word "sodomy" ever come up? Ever meet anyone that has heard about God Almighty? Jesus Christ? the Bible? The history of Sodom and Gomorrah?
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico yes….and as I read the Bible daily I have also discovered it being mentioned frequently cover to cover, along with the mandate to help others avoid the judgement of God Almighty against all sin. That would include people that condone what God Almighty clearly condemns. This is what Christ does as He demonstrates love and concern for others; warning and calling out sin as sin. He teaches “ judge righteous judgement “. John 7.24 Pagans, on the other hand dishonesty call the righteousness of God Almighty “hate speech”. I truly appreciate you asking.
@@lih-fk8by No, but have seen the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the anti-Christ jackasses opened the Ark of the Covenant? I wonder if the could find a family to adopt me?! 😂. Sounds like a fun time
They are definitely a fun couple. Maybe they can adopt both of us??
I think it's normal to marry the family. You may not want too, but like eating favorite foods it won't always be agreeable. There may be times when a vay cay isn't just desirable but a definite necessity. Honestly I think my Mom likes my wife better than me. But way better then the alternatives. Unless you move from a southeastern state to a northwestern state (or similar) They'll always be next door or at most a flight away. So be thankful. Remember you could always be Alone. By yourself. Talking to the walls. And drowning quietly in self pity. Party hardy and Love the one you're with. P n D
You always marry the family, but it seems like a whole nuther level in Mexico!
I don’t doubt your mom likes Pam more 😂
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico Of course... She has good taste too. 😇🤨
One thing that annoys me about people that move to Mexico is their absolute refusal to perfect the accent.
First we need to learn the language. Then perfecting the accent.
Makes sense but shouldn't the accent be a natural part of learning the language?@@AlmostRetiredinMexico
Interesting. Maybe this is particular for this family as it seems like it's a lot of strong women.
very interesting, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Who is this Cuban singer? Cuban Pete?
Boy, he sure lucked out. Third marriage is a charm?
Yup - it seems to have worked!
Love ❤️ Mexico!
How does the name changes happen? Does he take on her last name on his new Mexican I.D.?
No name changes happen at marriage. You get a name at birth and keep it. If they had kids, the kids would have family names from both parents (with each contributing the family name from their father's side.) It's hard to explain, but actually simple.
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico thank you

Mexicans that includes mexican americans in my case bc i am one can cook and clean we can iron too. We love pleasing our man.
wow. sounds like you found paradise.
If your spouse is Mexican. You marry the family!
Moral of this fantasy story is: if you marry a Mexican woman, make sure she comes from a wealthy highly educated family & is a college professor or attorney, so you'll never need to do any cooking, cleaning, gardening... It would be interesting to hear from someone who married into a poor family
Here's another take on marrying a Mexican. And in this one, neither partner comes from a wealthy family: th-cam.com/video/hGePIqiV8wo/w-d-xo.html
I married my American husband.
Are you Mexican?
If she picked up with Guy!??
It’s pretty laughable sorry but if you have watched his videos over the years you’ll know what I’m talking about
His approach to videos is very different he’s clearly about being monetized and one of those people that thinks his humor is laugh out loud when in reality it’s painful and unoriginal.
Takes a bit of adjusting to get to you you have to be patient and you have to truly adore Mexico and love her people and prefer her customs over those in the US
I’m married to a Mexican man so why is this even on TH-cam ? Lmao
It would be good to see if you can find an expat woman who married a mexican man. I will bet it is not easy to find! I think it works in favor of non-mexican men coming to find mexican women! But would love to see if you can find the opposite!
I have one of those coming soon!
WOW... CONGRATS MICHAEL🥳 You married a non-tattooed non-radical and feminine woman.... Now that is a throw back in time.... Almost back to when women weren't mostly fat... 😊
Hmmm... if you look back, only poor women were skinny. Fat was a sign of being wealthy enough to eat whatever you want.
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico No arguments there... 👍
Well, I wish dude luck. Lol..
It's a white thing
In any of your interviews did the history of the word "sodomy" ever come up? Ever meet anyone that has heard about God Almighty? Jesus Christ? the Bible? The history of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Does the history of the word sodomy come up in most videos you watch?
@@AlmostRetiredinMexico yes….and as I read the Bible daily I have also discovered it being mentioned frequently cover to cover, along with the mandate to help others avoid the judgement of God Almighty against all sin. That would include people that condone what God Almighty clearly condemns. This is what Christ does as He demonstrates love and concern for others; warning and calling out sin as sin. He teaches “ judge righteous judgement “. John 7.24 Pagans, on the other hand dishonesty call the righteousness of God Almighty “hate speech”. I truly appreciate you asking.
Since we are just asking random questions, have you ever had your shit pushed in ?
@@lih-fk8by No, but have seen the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the anti-Christ jackasses opened the Ark of the Covenant? Check it out, it is actually a reenactment of what God Almighty declared in Zechariah 14.12 will happen to those that despise and scorn His clearly stated decrees concerning righteousness and abomination.
@@lih-fk8by no, but I bought a t-shirt that says, “Jesus is coming, hand me a rag.”
