  • Setting up a Creality Ender 3 v3 KE with Creality Cloud.
    Quite a frustrating week setting up this printer, so much research but I think Ive found a way to use Tinkercad on the PC, save and upload the files to use on Creality Cloud. Its quite an intense video and not for everyone, I know, but it maybe useful. I do have a fair few people ask me about 3d printing so here goes… Enjoy!

    Wow John. Such technology is beyond belief and my understanding. Well done you for persevering with it and creating such. A great video about it. Thanks. Roy.

      Hi Roy, I’ve since been able to make the computer slicer to work. Do much easier now

    Hi John! Very interesting! A 3D printer has been on my radar for a while now, but I decided to go with a cutting machine first - the Cricut Maker 3! The software that comes with that is a major PITA, as you have to upload designs to their cloud before you can cut them! I must admit that I've been pondering whether to go for a resin or PLA type 3D printer when I eventually pull the trigger, but like you, the extra work required when working with resin really puts me off! Thanks for the informative video though! All the best, Ian.

      As you know I have two FDM printers now (filament) amd I also have a cricut maker 3, which I used to cut the first 3 buildings of the mill. I do like the cricut machine but it does take some getting used to. If I can help, just say, two heads and all that.

      @@piccadillymodelrailways - Sorry, I forgot you also had the Cricut! I think the machine itself is excellent, but the software seriously sucks! I use Inkscape for my designs, then import them into Design Space for cutting! I'm pretty comfortable using the machine this way, especially as I get better with Inkscape! I've also dabbled in TinkerCAD so hopefully when I get a 3D printer, I'll at least be familiar with that part of the process! I'll definitely reach out if I need help with the printer setup though, as it looks like a complete nightmare to configure properly - whatever printer you decided to go with! Cheers, Ian.

    John have another think about a resin printer, the details you can get is amazing. I’ve got both types and they both have their advantages, but the resin is miles ahead for details. As with everything, there is expensive way to print or cheaper way. Yes the resin may be a more expensive, but in my opinion it’s just pennies. If you want to see some examples let me know. Thank you for the video.

      Hi, I’ve watched so many comparison videos, yes detail is much further ahead. No doubt, but I simply don’t want the extra steps at the end of the print. Not for me sorry. Not now anyway.

    Strewth John, what a faf for a new printer, i would of given up I'm sure and did I hear you right that it can take 10 mins to slice that little shed ? I bought a Qidi X-pro 3D printer about 4 years ago and it just works, it is fully enclosed so the build plate is a little smaller than yours but I get very few issues due to items not sticking to the similar style build plate, I never use glue and usually don't have to use raft, I do use skirt as that seems to give better results laying down the first layer. Anyhow I digress, Qidi printers come with their own slicer software called Qidi Print, so I just create in TinkerCAD, export as an STL, click on open STL which opens Qidi Print with my default settings, click slice and only a few seconds later it is ready, I then click send to printer and it wirelessly sends the file to my printer which is in my garage and it starts printing. I never have to wait more than a few seconds for the sliced file to be created, 10 mins can't be right surely ? How long did it take to create the sliced file of say that VW camper and I will see if I can compare doing the same ? regards, Dave. p.s. I forgot to say, a very interesting and informative video, but what is so special about Creality Cloud that made you want to persevere so much ?

    Hi John - fascinating bit of kit you have there. It does give the ability to build those items which are bespoke to an individuals layout. Not sure I could justify having one myself but can see why you have invested in the technology yourself. Cheers Euan

      Thanks Euan, as you know the 3d printer has been a major asset over the past 3 years, but sometimes progress can be quite slow if I have to produce many parts. The printer prints at certain speeds and jobs get stacked up. Having a second printer means two on the go at the same time really speeding up progress. Time will tell

    Thanks John. Very interesting. I am close to buying one. Can you just slice stl file on your PC and copy sliced file to a USB stick and transfer to printer without using cloud. Cheers Peter

    • @piccadillymodelrailways
      @piccadillymodelrailways  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi yes, using Creality Print, not Cura. I have not done this. Creality Print does come on the USB stick. ( just checked for you). That is with the v3KE model, not SE, YOU CAN USE cura with that one. I suggest get the KE then you can still use Creality Coud to download models if you want, and it is future proofed somewhat.
      Personally I’m pursuing cloud printing as it makes it easier with downloaded models, which was always a bit hit and miss into Tinkercad and / or direct to Cura.
      I’ve just bought another screen for the v2 printer which brings that one up to date, apparently. Time will tell lol.

    Interesting John, looks like a big faff to setup. I use a resin printer but am wondering to get a flm printer for catenary due to it being stronger, can you print quite fine grid work on it? eg 0.5 mm? cheers

    • @piccadillymodelrailways
      @piccadillymodelrailways  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, yes it was a bit of a faff. Now it’s done should work well. I can print 0.5mm on my two can’t speak for other printers.
