You better be careful, those trucks have a bad habit of making an unexpected turn! Trust me drove on for years in the Corps. I have made at least 5 trips through the ditch while holding the wheel straight. But nice purchase on the MK48-15, a lot better off road than the Hemmit! Let's go Dragon wagons!
I honestly thought surplus discontinued selling the MK48's awhile back, great purchase though. These trucks were what the USMC had for a long time and were soley based on the DA-1500 which is a airport fire truck.Eventually, they wanted to replace them and now have been using the LVSR's,one of the main reasons was that the Detroit 8V-92 TA was becoming both outdated and obsolete in today's standards,so they upgraded by going with Caterpillars.
Why pull the rear unit? I test drove the front half once.....it's one of the sketchiest things I've done. If you brake hard enough you will endo. For regular driving it is very necessary. It also helps with steering.

Fuel is probably .50 to .65 a gallon more at a truck stop. Their diesel pumps are faster than a grocery store. I was in Nebraska last week and TA was $4.05 and across the street at Wally it was $3.48. I would have gone to Wally but they don't have dual pumps for each side and it would have taken me about an hour to pump 200+ gallons through a "4 wheeler" pump. I think the mil truck is about 55 gallons on one side so I would stay away from the truck stops as well!

Yea you can't get em through surplus but there are a few in private hands still.
We just bought two. You're fine.

Death metal and dragon wagons 🤣
Seriously that noise sucks.
I love military equipment
I hate it
Where are you located? I ask because it looks a lot like Oregon.
Everett, WA
I was gonna comment saying how much a Pacific North West vibe I get from the scenery.
A swing and a score!
Way way cool
Try driving just the 48 lol it's fun

How much did you pay for it?
(Dr evil) "1 million dollars!". It was cheaper than some of the nicer hmmwvs....but now they are appreciating nicely

That vehicle is 2 big to go to a regular gas station. Get your fuel at the truck stop in your town.
lmfao
It's smaller than the vehicle that delivers the fuel to the regular gas station...
