I moved to Portugal 20 years ago and enjoyed every day of it. One of the beautiful and safest places in the world. Lovely people make you feel welcome and the food is great. I am so grateful to have the chance to live in Algarve among my Portuguese friends.

I am 'old' and I will tell you, it is always okay to change your mind. The biggest regrets I have are following a path because I didn't want to look silly by changing my mind. I also had great experiences in Portugal, but know I wouldn't want to live there :)

You know certain things in life are simply a season and I have learned that it‘s still equally a part of me and equally fulfilling as if it were to be in my life forever. Ironically, for me moving abroad intensified my love for my home country and my desire to branch out my roots here again. I can now be at home actually feeling at home, because I know the dream of living abroad became my reality and therefore part of me. Now, I feel a deep sense of peace and serenity.🙌🏻💫 you are brave!

It has been a journey for all 633k+ of us. I feel like I too have left a dream paradise only to return to what was once an Old life. Mrs. Sophie, the journey is long but you are not alone. And like you said, another opportunity will present itself someday. So keep living your life and keep making good decisions and things will turn out very well for you both. Thank you for sharing this with us! It reminded me that life isn't neat and predictable. I was in a similar situation, but with my career. I spent two years preparing for a career change, only for me to return to my original profession for practical and mental health reasons. I thought I failed horribly and my life was a mess, but looking back, I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for those detours and delays. I know "going back" to the places or situations we thought we said goodbye to isn't exactly easy! So hang in there and trust that you are indeed where you need to be and you are being prepared for greater things!

I love this so much!! I audibly gasped when I saw the title, but knew in my heart I needed to watch immediately. My husband and I sold our home and bought an RV to live in full time with our four kids last Spring. Coming up to our year mark, we sent our RV to the service center and it’s been there for almost 2 months. We’ve been staying with family and friends from Chicago to Charlotte. I call this our suitcase season haha. It’s definitely different than what we were hoping for but I’m developing the capacity to enjoy less because of it. And I believe it’s preparing my heart for the changes that have developed since then. I saw all that to say, I really appreciate you saying you would do it all over again. That it’s not about how long, but how we grow because of it. Thank you for sharing moments of your life here on TH-cam. dear Sophie, when we travel & live abroad, immersing ourselves in another culture & making friends with the locals, it helps us realise that life can be viewed as an exciting adventure. It's a beautiful realisation & when I watch your YT channel I think you understand this too. Like you, I lived & worked overseas for 10 years, in 3 different countries & now I'm back in my home country for a while, who knows how long ... The best thing I did was to always live minimally. Moving from 1 country to another, a lot , re-affirms this every time. I've been back in my birth country for 1.9 years now & still, we've hardly bought anything. Here & abroad, we live in furnished apartments, I barely buy a physical book, we keep our appliances & belongings paired back. Keep it simple. It makes the going somewhere new that much easier the next time it happens. I feel for you. This was my life in 2022. My family of 6 (now 7) waited 2 years for visas to move to Italy. We lived there 1 year and 3 days before things changed and we came back home again. It was the hardest year of my life, but so full of life, so many beautiful memories (including having a baby there), and if I had it to do over and learn through again, I'd do it. Yes, after a big move to another country not to many people can afford another moving even in Years. You can have a big offer, but it doesnt pay all the movement. Only very privilege people can do that.
I started following your channel during the pandemic. You brought me peace and the serenity that we also needed in those calamitous days. When I saw that you were coming to Portugal, I couldn't believe it! How did someone I followed on the other side of the world is getting to live here? I even sent you a message, but the Universe didn't wanted us to meet. I'm sorry... you seem to be the only person in the world besides me who eats 12 grapes on New Year's Eve and not 12 raisins. I wish you had the chance to known more about the rural side of Portugal. I wish I could have taught you Portuguese words while showing you how homemade wine is... made :) and how fun it is to have pet chickens. Thank you for sharing this with us! It reminded me that life isn't neat and predictable. I was in a similar situation, but with my career. I spent two years preparing for a career change, only for me to return to my original profession for practical and mental health reasons. I thought I failed horribly and my life was a mess, but looking back, I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for those detours and delays.
I know "going back" to the places or situations we thought we said goodbye to isn't exactly easy! So hang in there and trust that you are indeed where you need to be and you are being prepared for greater things!

The past year (2022) has been insane for a lot of people due to war, geopolitics, and economic pullback (caused by global reserve banks pulling rugs under everyone's feet by hiking rates to highest level in a generation and now even the banks are failing and need bailouts). I love this so much!! I audibly gasped when I saw the title, but knew in my heart I needed to watch immediately. My husband and I sold our home and bought an RV to live in full time with our four kids last Spring. Coming up to our year mark, we sent our RV to the service center and it’s been there for almost 2 months. We’ve been staying with family and friends from Chicago to Charlotte. I call this our suitcase season haha. It’s definitely different than what we were hoping for but I’m developing the capacity to enjoy less because of it. And I believe it’s preparing my heart for the changes that have developed since then. I saw all that to say, I really appreciate you saying you would do it all over again. That it’s not about how long, but how we grow because of it. Thank you for sharing moments of your life here on TH-cam. I know I’m not the only one who feels deeply impacted by the simple truths you remind of us that we’ve forgotten. ❤️

dear Sophie, when we travel & live abroad, immersing ourselves in another culture & making friends with the locals, it helps us realise that life can be viewed as an exciting adventure. It's a beautiful realisation & when I watch your YT channel I think you understand this too. Like you, I lived & worked overseas for 10 years, in 3 different countries & now I'm back in my home country for a while, who knows how long ... The best thing I did was to always live minimally. Moving from 1 country to another, a lot , re-affirms this every time. I've been back in my birth country for 1.9 years now & still, we've hardly bought anything. Here & abroad, we live in furnished apartments, I barely buy a physical book, we keep our appliances & belongings paired back. Keep it simple. It makes the going somewhere new that much easier the next time it happens. I feel for you. This was my life in 2022. My family of 6 (now 7) waited 2 years for visas to move to Italy. We lived there 1 year and 3 days before things changed and we came back home again. It was the hardest year of my life, but so full of life, so many beautiful memories (including having a baby there), and if I had it to do over and learn through again, I'd do it. Every experience contributes to our life journey. So glad you got to experience this, even if it was for a shorter time than you hoped. I lived 35 years in the UK, 8 in Hong Kong and 2 (so far) in Romania, and am open to what the future holds. And Hawaii is truly beautiful too, so not a bad place to have to go back to 😎

Yes, after a big move to another country not to many people can afford another moving even in Years. You can have a big offer, but it doesnt pay all the movement. Only very privilege people can do that.

I started following your channel during the pandemic. You brought me peace and the serenity that we also needed in those calamitous days. When I saw that you were coming to Portugal, I couldn't believe it! How did someone I followed on the other side of the world is getting to live here? I even sent you a message, but the Universe didn't wanted us to meet. I'm sorry... you seem to be the only person in the world besides me who eats 12 grapes on New Year's Eve and not 12 raisins. I wish you had the chance to known more about the rural side of Portugal. I wish I could have taught you Portuguese words while showing you how homemade wine is... made :) and how fun it is to have pet chickens.
