      Interesting side note ... is Tim Tams came about in Australia 1964 ... yet Penguins were around 30 years before that. And in NZ we used to dip chocolate biscuits in milk or coffee and use them as a straw before Tim Tams hit the NZ market,

    • @nukasnook1561
      @nukasnook1561 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jlc7841 Yes, when Cadbury had their factories in NZ they were quite popular .... but they sold and went to Australia... because of higher temperatures in Australia they had to introduce Palm Oil to their chocolate to stop it melting on shop shelves. It's given it a very grainy texture by comparison. It feels more like a very sweet confectionery now not to mention shrinkage. Whittakers chocolate has the snap and texture chocolate should have and NZers seem to prefer this brand now. I think the Cadbury mint chocolate bar ... smooth ... would be the exception.

    • @nukasnook1561
      @nukasnook1561 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jlc7841 Cadburys Old Gold Mint is very much like after dinner mints. Because it's darker chocolate it doesn't have that sugary texture. They've changed the recipe to their once lovely Roses chocolates too. The difference being is you buy Whitakers because it tastes good you buy Cadbury because it's cheap and then wish you hadn't.

      From what I can remember, Stephanie, all of the blackcurrant bushes were got rid of in the US due to a disease they either got from something and then passed it on to other plants, etc - or another plant gave them a disease, and the blackcurrant upgraded it and made it even worse for other plants . . . Maybe the US had a specific plant that caused the mutation to happen - so that's why your flavourings have mostly grape over there - whereas here in the UK we usually have blackcurrant in sweets and drinks and not grape . . . Although, I don't see why so many blackcurrant items should be banned from being imported to the US seeing as its nothing to do with actual real berries or new planting bushes, per se . . . Strange???

    Cordials and squashes in the UK are diluted with water as they're a thick concentrated high juice like hawaiian punch or kool aid there's different brands blackcurrant being a common popular purple berry flavour is one them. Not heard of anybody mixing it with lemonade though but obviously that's a personal preference.
