Xela Redna same! 33 and have always owned a dishwasher but never knew how to use them. Every time I moved to a new place I would try it and the dishes would come out horrible. Bought a kitchen aid dishwasher and I don’t think I’m ever going back to hand washing. I love it. Now I see why people use these things.
IMPORTANT: 1. Once loaded, TWIRL THE WASHING ARM above your lower rack dishes to make sure it has free movement in a complete circle. If a dish or implement is sticking up, it can block the movement of the washing arm and your dishes will not be evenly clean. 2. ALSO: Turn on your sink's HOT WATER and let it run until it is very hot BEFORE you start your dishwasher. Otherwise, your dishes will be washed in cold water, unless your dishwasher has a built-in water heating feature. 3. Use only an ounce or two of dishwasher soap in filler compartment top and under its trap door. Too much soap will overload your dishwasher and bog it down, often causing complete breakdowns. 4. Wash the fine mesh filter(located in bottom of washer tub) frequently. These tips were given to me by a very honest dishwasher repair man. Since I've been using these tips, I have had no dishwasher trouble for years, and my dishes and utensils are always perfectly clean.
@@mrdev5281 1. Don't load any tall items near the silverware baskets since they will block the water to wash the flatware. 2. Always bring the hot water to the dishwasher first by turning the sink faucet to full hot running water until it is as hot as possible. 3. Don't put nearly as much soap in the dishwasher as indicated. Only a table spoon is needed for first cycle and a table spoon for the second cycle. Putting the normal amount of soap in will eventually clog the filter. This does two things: It makes you call a repairman for $100, and it sells more dishwasher soap. 4. One of the main advantages of putting the toilet paper on the spindle so the paper feeds from the top of the roll, not the bottom, is the fact that you can always find the end of the paper, and fold it back a bit for the next use. This allows you to easily grab toilet paper when you stumble into the bathroom out of a sound sleep to perform those nightly pee missions, when you are still mostly asleep, and your eyes are squinting in a blur. During this global pandemic, every roll of toilet paper needs to be set up in the most accessible way.
@@vrnvorona Some dishwashers do and others do not heat incoming water. It is always best to run the hot water in your sink until it is at its hottest, then turn the dishwasher on while the sink hot water is still running. Once the dishwasher has accessed the hot water (you can hear it filling in the dishwasher) you can turn off the sink hot water. This ensures hot water will clean your dishes.

As far as putting dishes with food still on them in the dishwasher...Many years ago, a Plumber advised me that the worse thing to put in the disposer is FOOD. The disposer is meant for tiny bits of food and not large table scraps. For instance, if one puts a potato in the disposer, the disposer will chop it up but your pipes then have an entire potato in them. Over time, this will clog the pipes with FOOD. Dishwasher outputs normally do not even go through the disposer side. Therefore, a lot of food particles will eventually clog the pipes. I know there are filters in the dishwashers. They do block a lot of larger items from going in the pipes but a lot of those food particles break up and go through the filters anyway. All this to say - it is best to scrape the large items off the plates into the garbage. Some stains always need to be rinsed off. Dried egg yolks are not cleaned in the dishwasher. LOL.

At 4:34, never put cast iron into the dishwasher because it can't handle the heat a dishwasher can produce? I'm confused, I use a cast iron pan to sear rib eye steaks, I heat the oven to 500° Fahrenheit with the pan inside, then heat the burner on top pull the pan out of the oven and place the pan on the top burner at the highest heat, then sear the steaks for a couple of minutes on each side, then back into the oven at 500 for around 6 minutes..... does a dishwasher get hotter than 500° Fahrenheit? I don't think so.
Its not because of the heat shes wrong. You never use dishwasher soap on iron cast because it destroys the coating. Simply heat up your cast iron with salt and let it heat up real good then just wipe it with a paper towel when its not that hot anymore.
What if you forgot to turn off the faucet where the inlet hose is connected, after the dishwasher has finished the wash program, will the hose burst from the extreme water pressure build up?
This was such an informative video... 95% sure I’ll still be loading my dishwasher the wrong way just to avoid “washing the rest by hand” but I shall keep this in mind
I copy my mother and rinse the dishes pror to staking mum's machine. This not only saves money as we use half the powder, limits the residue on the dishes and limits the amount of residue blocking the machine from working. GOOD TIP!
Problem I'm facing is with my dishwasher that doesn't have a prewash detergent cup. Do I add detergent to the tub and in the main wash cup or just let the dishwasher pre-rinse with only water which doesn't always get food off the dishes and pots at the end?
So I’ve loaded salt into the salt chamber, but I can’t seem find where the pepper goes though. Is there a special hidden pepper chamber on dishwashers?
ya I always wash pot and pans and skillets by hand........unless it’s a small pot. I’m not going to leave pots or anything else in the sink for the next load. I like a clean kitchen. Plus.......I’m not lazy!
Dishwasher loading beliefs are like all the Faiths on this planet. People have strong beliefs and theirs is always right!! However i did learn some things from your video and some other videos and cleaned my wash arms as the dispenser was found open a clumped portion of soap and the dishes not washed well. I found the end of the arms a little blocked; the ones that spray at an angle and point towards the dispenser? Bits of plastic and string that somehow got passed the 2 fine filters at the bottom or past the meshed water inlet? Well its 7 years old and likely never cleaned so it is now and will try next load if all working correctly. All machines need servicing and i wonder if negative dishwasher reviews are sometimes caused by no maintenance? Ours has only 1&2 star rated but ours seems to work fine up till now.
You’re going to love me after you read my comment/advise. I always put dishwasher powder/liquid not just inside the sealed lockable compartment, but most importantly also outside of it. Logically answer yourself this question, when is the detergent required the most, when the dishes are the dirtiest at the beginning of cycle or halfway through when they are already partially rinsed by just pure water? The answer is Off course when very dirty at the beginning. So I always split my dishwasher powder between sealed compartment and outside, effectively it gives your dishes a prewash. Most dishwasher actually have designated space for this reason, sometimes uncovered, sometimes under the the main flap slotted section. Frankly my “half “ of powder outside is alway bigger then locked “half”. It also has another benefit apart from cleaning your dishes better, it keeps your dishwasher’s drainage pipes clean, that’s because all this greasy stuff from initial wash is dissolved by the powder you’ve put outside of locked compartment and does not stick to the drainage. For this reason I have never ever used any of those heavily advertised “dishwasher cleaners”. You will notice it yourself when cleaning the filter (still have do it regularly, it’s compulsory), it won’t have this whitish gluey coat that is hard to remove. After 20 years of service I have replaced my old dishwasher with new one and guess what? The drainage pipe was so clean that I have not changed, just reconnected it to new machine. Another tip, when you’re installing your dishwasher, connect it to hot water supply pipe instead of cold. Don’t bother with all in one tablets or pods, always use dedicated powder/liquid and separate rinse aid. By the way rinse aid really makes the difference ton achieve spotless dry dishes. P.S. obviously I am a dishwasher freak.
So don’t put cups or glasses over the tines to prevent chipping when bumping against each other but yet it’s ok to load plates like dominoes near each other? Wouldn’t these also shake and bump into each other the same way???
Searched for this video because I'm tired of explaining how to load a dishwasher to my niece and nephew 😂 maybe if they learn it on TH-cam, they'll actually pay attention

You should use it at least once per week. Modern dishwashers have auto programs that measure dirt levels. That's probably why that program is taking forever to finish.
So if my dishes are not visually dirty I shouldn't clean them in the dishwasher because it may harm them? If I enjoyed a slice of pound cake which only left a few crumbs behind. You're saying I shouldn't put that plate in the dishwasher correct? That sucks.
Yep, that is basically what she said. It doesn't make sense what she said because, basically, ten minutes after the cycle starts, most of the dishes don't have anything on them anyway and then are exposed to the chemicals of the detergent anyway.
I gave you a thumbs up, but I will say that dish washer repair guys say over and over that most of the problems they see are from food debris. A quick rinse off will say problems in the long run.
I have been loading my dishwashers wrong for 35 years.I learned a lot here. But--our kids are grown and gone. It is just the two of us--and the dog who likes to lick the plates clean. But if it is something she can't eat and we only turn on the dishwasher every 3-5 days, will the food harden too much for the detergent to do its work?

@@FBSKitchen This was a great video. Nothing was wrong. I Don't think I left you on a cliff hanger. I thought it was funny saying to mix up the silverware to stop them from Spooning. And that's how I left it. Keep up the good work.
@@davedavies6518 oh my gosh Dave, I think I totally missed the last sentence yesterday so I thought your comment ended with, "I was also told to mixed the types up to stop___" and I needed to know "to stop what?!"" :)
@@FBSKitchen LOL. Keep up on the good videos, and don't forget to....
; - )
@@davedavies6518 I think she's looking for you to show her what spooning means, Dave ;-)
T hanks Laura! This helped me a lot with my NEW Whirlpool dishwasher I just got installed! And by the way it looks great in y beautiful kitchen...matches my fridge so well...Love it's look!
1:58 -Buys a $1,500 dishwasher... suggests we "hand wash" some of our dishes. LOL
Brad Saint George no way just save the extra dishes for the next load lol
She is saying not to overcrowd it. Otherwise wash the remaining or do another load.
Brad Saint George buys a $1500 dollar washer, dry cleans suits

@Edi2003 kilometres I kk
I'd like some comparisons on using the upper utensils tray vs. the basket. Our new Bosch has one.
We're working on a comparison series- check back later in the year, b/c that will definitely be something we cover!
One thing to keep in mind is in between using your dishwasher, keep the door well sealed. otherwise, bugs will be attracted to your dirty dishes. The electronics in my last dishwasher shorted out due to bugs that had gotten in. My house is clean but I do live in Florida!
@3:40 other videos say pots bottom up, not sideways. What do you think?
How would you load valve covers?
This was great - I shared it with my son. I found out I was doing a lot of things right, which may have prolonged the life of my dishwasher.
I need the older model
Such a good video. Learned everything in one go.
Thank you for the kind feedback!
@@akimbo5u oh ok, I see, makes sense now, thank you.
She had me confused because she said it couldn't handle the heat.
Although, I know most of the loading techniques, I’d did not know about the alternating of the utensils. Makes perfect sense. Thanks!
Great for carburetors and intake manifolds, too.
Cleaning carbs, manifolds and exhaust manifolds without first properly setting the sandblast feature is never a good idea.
True story, my stepbrother burned his house down washing his carburetor with gasoline, the pilot light from the gas stove ignited the gas fumes.
Help! What about the rinse aide? Do I fill it up every load?
Wow, I've been doing it right all these years! Thanks!!! 🌷
I never knew any of these things! Thank you for the explanation.
Yeah! We love hearing that :)
Thank you Laura! I was at a loss to why my dishwasher was not working! WOW!
Yeah! So happy to help!
Should silverware face up or down and does the silverware basket lid have to be closed for better water circulation?
I learnt more from this video than 3 years of university
There are the little clips for on the top rack on the left hand side
It took me a while to realize this was a showroom... Like what sort of psychopath fries stuff at that angle... 😅
What do you store under the kitchen sink that makes it more humid?
I just had a visit with the dishwasher wizard! Thanks for all the insights!
We haven't seen the DW Wizard in AGES! How is he doing? Tell him hi for us :) (And you're very welcome)
this was better than i thought it would be!
I didn't think I would learn anything from this video. They should teach this in school
I noticed there was a spatula with a wooden handle on the top rack then she says never put wood in a dish washer haha
What if you forgot to turn off the faucet where the inlet hose is connected, after the dishwasher has finished the wash program, will the hose burst from the extreme water pressure build up?
I don't even own a dishwasher.
But I enjoyed every minute of that.
This was such an informative video... 95% sure I’ll still be loading my dishwasher the wrong way just to avoid “washing the rest by hand” but I shall keep this in mind
holy shit thank you, i have to load the dishwasher tonight for the family and i Googled it .. and now i'll be OK, will update
And, did you manage to load it?
@@DVHSJ Yep, everything turned out OK! :)
YEAH!! We're so happy we could help :)
what about pods? I have pods from over a year a go that I still use in my dishwasher
Wow, this was really, really helpful. Thank you!
You're so welcome!
I copy my mother and rinse the dishes pror to staking mum's machine. This not only saves money as we use half the powder, limits the residue on the dishes and limits the amount of residue blocking the machine from working. GOOD TIP!
Thanks, Laura. Now I've just got to persuade my wife to watch this :-)
Lol
Love this! now the disputes can end!
Thanks, but we in Bulgaria was with finiah and fairy. We not have This green tabs. What is difderence?
Problem I'm facing is with my dishwasher that doesn't have a prewash detergent cup. Do I add detergent to the tub and in the main wash cup or just let the dishwasher pre-rinse with only water which doesn't always get food off the dishes and pots at the end?
Learned a lot, not rinsing was the biggest supprise! Also I was surprised she didn't mention running hot water before turning on the dishwasher 🙄
So I’ve loaded salt into the salt chamber, but I can’t seem find where the pepper goes though. Is there a special hidden pepper chamber on dishwashers?
@Second Unit Aerials : The pepper chamber is generally located 90 cm below the bottom of the dishwasher. Good luck.
I think there is a special type of salt.just in case this isnt sarcasm xD
Sarcasm ;o)
So how do you cook on a stove top on an angle like that?
It’s amazing how much I didn’t know about dishwashers.
It’s amazing how much she has made stuff up too.
I'm not stopping scrubbing my clean before putting them in. So what do you use instead of detergent?
ya I always wash pot and pans and skillets by hand........unless it’s a small pot. I’m not going to leave pots or anything else in the sink for the next load. I like a clean kitchen. Plus.......I’m not lazy!
I have a kelivator dw and the glasses fall evertime I close door why I don’t know
Dishwasher loading beliefs are like all the Faiths on this planet.
SOO helpful! Thank you!
You are very welcome!
Great demo video
So don’t put cups or glasses over the tines to prevent chipping when bumping against each other but yet it’s ok to load plates like dominoes near each other? Wouldn’t these also shake and bump into each other the same way???
wtf kind of dish detergent do you have in usa? i always pre wash and never get chips cracks or wear
From now on I'm gonna stop putting my silver near to my stainless steel stuff..
Where should I put my golden plates?
wash it with your hands
Throw them in the garbage and replace with new ones. Only peasants clean their dishes.
@Marco Deo Well done, well done.
Obviously between the silver and the stainless steel items. I would hand wash the ones made out of diamonds though
Searched for this video because I'm tired of explaining how to load a dishwasher to my niece and nephew 😂 maybe if they learn it on TH-cam, they'll actually pay attention
Hello Laura, my dishwasher often goes to 99+ hours setting when I have chosen a time
saving setting (like 50mins). I have noticed that happens usually when I
have not ran the dish washer for 3 weeks or so, but I don't have that
many dishes per day to run the washer sooner than once every 3 weeks.
please help. Thank you for your time
You should use it at least once per week. Modern dishwashers have auto programs that measure dirt levels. That's probably why that program is taking forever to finish.
A very well presented video
We have just bought our first ever dishwasher (to give me a break😊)and found some great tips here
Regards from The UK
Great video clip!
Thank you for the excellent tutorial.
I just turned 60 so I thought it was time I learned to load a dish washer. Would a 750cfm Holley Carb go on the top shelf or bottom ?
Let me reach out to one of our reps and get back to you on this!
So if my dishes are not visually dirty I shouldn't clean them in the dishwasher because it may harm them?
If I enjoyed a slice of pound cake which only left a few crumbs behind. You're saying I shouldn't put that plate in the dishwasher correct? That sucks.
aDolphinChaser that is nasty! I hope you are not being serious. lol
carmay3600
It was a joke but didn't translate very well. LOL
Yep, that is basically what she said. It doesn't make sense what she said because, basically, ten minutes after the cycle starts, most of the dishes don't have anything on them anyway and then are exposed to the chemicals of the detergent anyway.
thank you very much for all of this great advice
All helpful info, thanks 😊
I gave you a thumbs up, but I will say that dish washer repair guys say over and over that most of the problems they see are from food debris. A quick rinse off will say problems in the long run.
Great video!
Never put alluminum but many mine friends wash their parts from absorber
Urgent question: What kind of tablets do you recommend for the dishwasher? My wife has a terrible headache...
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's situation, but we wouldn't feel comfortable recommending something like that. Hope you figure it out!
One track mind you've got. You really need to get out more... maybe take up another hobby.
My mum needs to see this video 😂
Let us know what she thinks after she watches it!
Thank you - certainly learned many things!
My dishwasher is sleeping rn but when she wakes up I will load her properly! Thank you
Tutorial on cleaning the trap?
Wow I learned a lot...I always thought no food can be left on the plates before going in..now I know and that makes my life easier..no more scrubbing.
My sister doesn't pre-rinse and the dishwasher has to be cleaned every couple of months. Pretty annoying
Wow. I didn’t know detergent could go bad after only 2 months.
"how to load the dishwasher" also a title of a great video on PH 😉
I clearly need your help. Can you come over? 🥰
Good tips!
My wife found this video helpful 👍
One day maybe we'll win your wife's husband over too!
Thanks for the video. If I didn't watch this, I would've put my cast iron skillet in the dishwasher 😊
