I appreciate the “imperfect” vlog. It feels real and relatable compared to the perfectly polished and everything being perfect vibe. Both are good! Just appreciate the realness 😊

When you are feeling inadequate about not homesteading or whatever, just think there are women in that world jealous of things you do well, like being gorgeous, fashionable, tech savvy, social. Everyone has pros and cons, no competitions ❤

Oh my gosh I’m halfway in and I LOVE seeing you and the Husbear talking on camera!! 😂 The laundry debate and the way he gets about being too romantic on camera reminded me sooo much of my husband! You hit the nail on the head haha, it’s the vulnerability of it all! Meanwhile I’m like “awwwww you loooove me? 😚”

Dear Caitlin, you are blessing us again with an hour of feel-good-content!! :) Thank you for putting in this effort while taking us along in your everyday life! Your attention to detail with all these different angles and segments is really impressive - a cinematic masterpiece! For the past years you have been a huge inspiration, especially how you intertwine femininity and faith. May god bless you and your family! Happy pentecost from Germany to the Midwest! 🌺

I also valued the no make up clips! It’s lovely to see REAL faces!!!! On socials it’s so much about filters and I feel so inundated with that so it really feels refreshing and makes me feel more secure about myself without makeup, because that’s a realistic face! We all don’t have flawless skin, perfect brows, etc! The filters on socials has definitely hurt my self confidence, so I just love your openness and vulnerability with that too 🌷 it means a lot! And you are GORGEOUS with and without makeup!!!!!! 🌸💕

I love these longer vlogs so much, Caitlin! I feel like we can see your personality shine through so much and I find myself thinking that I would love to be your friend and hang out together 🥰 These videos really do keep me company as I am near the end of my degree. All of my friends are busy with their thesis and preparing their defense (me as well) and I have been feeling quite lonely (I study in a foreign country so my family is not around) and confused about what to do next in life. Your peaceful vlogs inspire me a lot. Even if marriage and kids might still be far away from me, I aspire to lead a fulfilling life like you do. Lots of love 💟

      @MrsMidwest  ปีที่แล้ว +5

I absolutely understand this. When I first moved and began Homemaking I was new in town and lonely, and I found myself drifting away in my mind with content creators and it was absolutely encouraging and got me to where I am today 😊 I hope your degree goes smoothly as you continue to work toward that goal!! Admirable. Proud of you. 🎉❤😊

Congrats on the sponsorship and free e-bikes!!! Have a lovely Sunday!
Edit: I loved your talks on the crunchy-guilt. I am not a mom (yet) but even I felt pressure to be ultra crunchy to prepare for motherhood. I dreaded the idea of a home birth, stressed out over reading ingredient labels, and was sad I didn’t live on a farm. But the truth is: I would’ve hated giving home births and living on a farm! I just had this idealistic picture of how I should WANT my life to look like. I enjoy being a modern-girly now! Excited to read/listen to more of your thoughts. PS I loved your date night hair!

    • @MrsMidwest
      @MrsMidwest  ปีที่แล้ว +7

So so so so true!!! I felt the same way. Birth really clarified a lot of things for me. It was a reckoning where I realized I’m not crunchy and that’s ok!! I adore my crunchy friends and I’m happy they accept me 😂
Also thank you for the hair compliment. It felt wacko taco to be wearing it out like that because I had no time to do it 😂

Hi Caitlin. I've never left a comment before, but I felt the need to express how much I appreciate all your videos, blog posts, and Instagram posts. You've been a huge inspiration, mentor, and hope in my life. I began watching your videos around the beginning of the pandemic where I felt lost and confused on what I wanted in life and what I wanted to become. I've been following you through all these years watching your journey and living through mine; watching your videos and seeing the parts of your life has helped me with my life as I take the lessons that you share to heart. I view your videos as I would look up to a big sister's wisdom as you've inspired me to live more authentically and true to myself. I'm 26 and my boyfriend of two years, who I thought I would marry, just broke up with me about a week ago. I'm still reeling with questions and wondering why he choose to leave 2 years of happy and loving memories instead of sticking out a difficult time and allowing us to grow closer together. As I watched this vlog, I saw how moments that you shared with your husband were similar to moments that I used to share with my ex-boyfriend. And while these moments brought tears to my eyes as I wished that things were different, these glimpses of your life also brought me hope and a renewed sense of purpose. You've shown me that it is okay to want a simpler and slower life, and to want to build a home with a husband and kids. You've been a huge inspiration, and I thank God that He brought me to your videos, and I also thank God for His perfect plan for all of our lives. And so, I just wanted to let you know that you've had such a positive impact on someone's life, and I thank you for that.

Lots of love from the Philippines! 🇵🇭
Just a little hopeless romantic here. Like you, i love walks, beauty, simple living and gratitude.
Just watched the entire video and a smile just kept coming back to me as I'm filled with just inner delight with everything you shared on here - even the vulnerable and low points of life. It is such a blessing to see a whole life. Not just the picturesque and the postable ones. Thank you for sharing that as well. Thank you for sharing those conversations with the Husbear. I'm getting married this September, Godwilling. I have 3 months to go and I'm humbled by how this waiting is so humbling me. Thank you for being a part of my single years journey so, so heavily and helping me establish my feminity ever since your vlogs prior to the boys.
Still my fave TH-camr and I've watched almost all your videos. Cheers to more! 🥂
God bless and protect your family!

I haven't been watching your videos in so long and recently my mental health has been really bad and I haven't been taking care of myself at all. I thought about you and your vlogs and how I would always feel inspired to treat my home with better respect after watching you clean and show us details of your home and life. This vlog was perfect to help pull me out of a spiral. Thank you, I'll be praying for you and your family ❤

I love your vlogs! 🌷 I am a stay at home wife, & before when I worked outside the home my husband and I split the household duties then! I think the same after having kids, because that became your full time job, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your hubby helping do the dishes, or laundry, and helping in the household load as he can! So kudos to him for not putting it all on you now! I know every family looks different, so do what works for you all best! Life is in seasons! At the end of the day you two are a team and have one another to rely on! My hubby and I actually just wrote out our responsibilities separate and then together (so my responsibilities, his responsibilities and then our shared responsibilities) so the ambiguity went away and we both came to agreements on what we felt was best right now in who manages what and why! It was most helpful and brought such clarity, gratitude and peace! 🤍 much love & bliss 💓

    Cait,
I find sick babies to be so triggering too! It starts off with me picking up their emotions and often leads to me spiraling and catastrophizing about disease and death. It’s the worst! You are not alone ❤️

Omg that scene with you and hubby in the car was adorable. I’m so glad I watched bc I wasn’t expecting that. When you said that people with different senses of humor will laugh harder when they BOTH find something funny.. I was like YES…. Sooo true and the part about moving furniture lol. Dearest Caitlin, I’m a longtime subbie and consider myself part of the Feminine Family. I know this blog wasn’t perfect in the way your Charleston vlog was, but I want you to know it’s actually my very favorite vlog you’ve EVER done! And your vlogs are always delightful but for me all the elements came together here. Thoroughly enjoyed some of the new camera/editing techniques you used, was so fun to be brought into more dialogue and interaction with you and Grant (y’all are so funny & cute together), and I genuinely appreciated your vulnerability and willingness to show the “ugly” down moments too! The segment on e-bikes was really nice because I could see myself loving to have one of these too. I also love the way you bring your Christian faith into everything even reminding us that’s part of how you recenter yourself when spiraling. Thank you again Caitlin for sharing your life with us and being so lovely! 😘🌻🌸

Fellow blondy here. Ive been dying my hair AND brows for over 10 years now and I came up with a similar method as you, but I use Qtips to clean up the edges. I have a MAGIC trick that I found out inadvertently last summer. So usually I would double moisturize my brow area after to get the dye off the skin faster, but Id have to look cra for a few days. Well I put the Glow Recipe Avacado Ceramide serum on them one time and wiped it off 10 min later and BAM! It all came off the skin leaving perfect dark brows 😊

I really appreciate that your home is a little more “normal” and “dated” than many TH-camrs homes are! It feels soooo much more relatable seeing you make the carrot cake in a kitchen that isn’t all stark white and newly remodeled, etc. and you’re using Great Value brand products with mismatched appliances. I LOVE it because it’s real life!!

I quite literally paused the video after you showed the hair removing crystal and immediately followed the link and ordered it. I have THE most sensitive skin on my legs and it makes it nearly impossible to shave or wax.
I used it right after my shower like you suggested and just very very lightly and gently tested it on one leg. I think I heard angels singing. I literally walked out of my bathroom in genuine shock. No pain, zero irritation, removed the hair, the dead skin, all the dang things. This lil baby deserves its own video. THANK YOU for the recommendation!! 🙌🏼👏🏻

Thank you so much for touching a little bit on the topic of homesteading and homemaking. You said it correctly when you said that not every homemaker has a desire to own a farm, live in an old farmhouse, raising chickens and drinking raw milk. These things aren’t bad but there’s a HUGE societal pressure on every homemaker to be this way. I have zero desire to live that life but I’ll support people who do! Raising 3 babies and being 8 months pregnant is hard enough work! It should be normalized that there’s more homemakers out there that don’t have those same wants and that’s okay. It doesn’t make us any less of a homemaker/wife/mother. 💛 thank you for this beautiful vlog. Your children are blessings.

I love what you said about the whole “crunchy” or housewife to homestead thing. What you said reminded me of a tshirt I saw online once that I’d love to have and it said “crispy at best” and I love the grace it promotes

My days and nights pretty much look exactly like yours, and yet… I look forward to these vlogs so much. Lol. I never watch crazy travel videos or fancy lifestyle stuff. The stuff I like the best is just normal people doing normal things even though it doesn’t provide any escapism because it’s just reality. But somehow it’s comforting to know someone out there is living such a similar life with similar ups and downs.

I read your blog post, and I'm absolutely a Soft Life Salma. It feels so nice to be seen! I can't bake anything that doesn't come from a box, and I don't know the first thing about cows.

I enjoyed this vlog! You occasionally touch on your “diet”/eating traditionally, and your comment about seed oils reminded me to tell you that I would love to hear more of your philosophy of eating and why you decided to eat more traditionally.

    Hi Caitlin
What a sweet vlog… I loved it ! So true and real. I’m like you, I have a big tendency to spiralling and I always try to stop. I do something nice for myself.
The moment with you and your husband was so nice and sweet…
    Thanks for this nice vlog

As an apartment dwelling homemaker/SAHM in the city, I appreciated your blog post! I get a little weary seeing so much crunch on homemaking Facebook groups and Instagram pages. I definitely identify more with the suburban SAHM aesthetic.

I appreciate you so much, Caitlyn. The pressure to be a certain type of homemaker is real! It's refreshing to see your content, because we have a lot of the same interests are are "suburban" homemakers for lack of a better word. It is nice to see another non-crunchy stay at home mom and homemaker!!

@ Mrs. Midwest, about the homesteading topic, I think in the truth of it all, I think many women just really appreciate seeing someone being at rest and contented with family and home life. And being easy and light. Whether ladies feel safe enough to admit it or not, it's just nice to see a woman at peace for the most part. And not making work out of everyday life at all. I think that's really why many ladies enjoy this. Because it's free from making things efforted when it doesn't need to be
