Pro-tip from a geology nerd: Using any kind of non-reactive rock/mineral roller for circulation works just as well as rose quartz. Rose quartz, amethyst, etc. have no actual benefits themselves (again, they're virtually chemically inert when interacting with your skin/oils), it's the physical stimulation that does all the work! If you can find something cheaper that's still safe and sustainable, buy that and save your money :)

I'm so happy that more zero waste TH-cam are getting aware about the ingredients in their skin care products. Environmental sustainability and ethics are important but so is skin health. Hyram's skin care advice has changed my skin forever!!
Thank you for encouraging the use of synthetic ingredients! I often sense a strong hesitance to synthetic biology, but I'm a plant biochemist and I firmly believe that the acceptance of synthetic biology will further our ability to live more sustainably on a global scale. This general fear of synthetic ingredients is further exacerbated when companies use fearmongering as a marketing strategy, especially with "clean" and "natural" being unregulated terms. That being said, thank you so much for bringing awareness to this often misunderstood aspect of sustainability. Great video, Immy!
Quarantine has been the perfect time for me to start washing my hair once a week since I work from home and no one can see how greasy I am. I'm now at the point where I can go longer than a week which I never thought I could do!
I do think that the brand "The Ordinary" is here to stay because their skincare line is of good quality. I've always finished every single one of their products.
Lilas Charmante the ordinary is here since a long time! Been using their products for more than 5 years now! Sad that with the hype the products have increased :(
@@sophierodrigues4507 Why is that sad? It's a good thing that they've gotten more popular. It means more people using quality products at a reasonable price in mostly sustainable glass packaging.
I highly recommend the book "There's Lead In Your Lipstick" by Gillian Deacon. In the book she talks about the harmful toxins and chemicals in our everyday beauty products. She also recommends many different eco friendly alternatives as well is stuff you can make yourself. It's a really good read.
Look at your beautiful hair! When we don’t get an upload for a while I worry about how you’re doing in these crazy times but turns out you were just being a STAR and putting together these awesome comprehensive videos!
Another good thing to look for in sunscreen is that its reef safe. Also adding sugar to your cleanser is a good exfoliant for sensitive skin cause it dissolves after a while so you cant over exfoliate or strip your face/body.
I’ve been using my stainless steel nail file for years!!! My mom got some as stocking stuffers one Christmas and I’ve never looked back. They just feel and perform better than the typical long nail files for me. I could never get myself to consistently use a file before. Can not recommend them enough!
Great list Immy! I love that you acknowledge how not everyone can do everything and that taking steps is the main part. I'd say use a crystal nail file rather than a stainless steel one. It's less harsh on the nails and you can go in both directions. They're a bit pricey but worth the investment! Again, another investment is an epilator. Epilating is a great option and easier to do than waxing/sugaring but lasts just as long. I love Cruelty Free Kitty to check up on whether brands are cruelty free. It costs money to get Leaping Bunny certification so though it's a quick way to check it might restrict you unneccessarily.
YAAAAS you’re a Hyram fan!!! ❤️❤️ And it’s awesome to see a balanced routine! When I started to be more sustainable I definitely went a little crazy with the diy and minimalism and was not treating my skin and hair the best way! I am learning to find more balance now and researching ethical, cruelty free and high quality brands to make sure I only buy what I need, what will work for me, and what I will use till the end! Thanks for the brand suggestions btw!🥰
I make my own parfum with essential oils and I get compliments so often! A little patchouli or lavender goes a long way. And it really boosts your presence if you smell nice and also, relying on Pavlov, applying the same smell everyday can help to evoke certain feelings. I always think of summertime and fun and friends when I put it on everyday and it relaxes me. Thank you so much for the great content Immy!
For those of you who want to sugar there is a channel called abetweene she has a playlist with a whole bunch of sugaring videos i tried sugaring and i love it it makes my legs feel so much smoother and softer then shaving. I love your channel im only 14 and cant do a lot of those things because i live with my family but when im older i will for sure we should take care of the earth and out over all health! 💕💕💕
I loved it! ❤️ I really love that you care about sustainablility and also have science based information about skincare! Unfortunately, it is rare that these two things meet... I loved your recommendation for example to to avoid essential oils because of the possible irritations that it can cause. YES, natural is not always means that it is better! Also its important that you recommended scrubs only for the body and not for the face, they can be too harsh to use on the face. The most important: suncreen, yes! Spread useful information :) About the diy turmeric face mask: in one of Hyram's reaction videos a guy used it and his face was stained yellow, so be careful. Keep going, you make such professional videos with important informations! Also i love that you mentioned Hyram, he is the best when it comes to skincare, very reliable information that he shares and he also cares about sustainability!
I have just found your channel. I am 19 and trying little by little to be more sustainable. It is a little big hard because of the environment I live at. Your channel is helping a lot and giving me plenty of ideas. Lots of love from Spain.
I love these videos! They are so inspiring and non judgemental, I love your calm and peaceful tone. I have finally (at 56) found a shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body moisturiser that don’t drive my skin crazy. I used to have so many bottles and jars in the bathroom but now my side of the cabinet is half empty. I wish I had learned earlier in my life that I am fine just as I am. Keep spreading the message, you are a beautiful human xxx
Absolutely, you’re just fine as you are... how is it that we take a few decades to catch onto these important messages in life? Don’t ya just love the empty space on the cabinet shelves and in the drawers (me too... it doesn’t take much to make me 😊... LOL!)
Mary Charlebois I wish I could tell all of the young people who are so stressed over how they look that it’s not important and that those who judge them purely by what’s on the surface don’t matter. Baking soda is the best shampoo I have ever used. It leaves my curly hair soft and tangle free. I use apple cider vinegar about once a month as a rinse. I use about a teaspoon of olive oil as a leave in for conditioning and shine after towel drying. I learned this from a really old lady who had the prettiest hair.
There are so many amazing tips in this video! My skin got so much better once I started using simpler, more natural products-but I reaaaally need to start wearing sunscreen on my face 😬
I've recently found a deodorant company called Wild, who are UK based, and they send you a single metal case, and then refills in compostable packaging. It's the first natural deodorant that I've found to work for me and the coconut dreams scent is goooorgeous! Loved this video, so many great ideas! Definitely going to try camelia oil!
Fabulous video. And you know, it works both ways too, like prepare to be surprised. I sS gifted a Dermalogica facial recently, and I was shocked at the end, when the esthetician DIDNT push any expensive products at me, instead, she said "use up everything you've got at home, it doesn't matter at all about buying new products, as they'll probably just sit there gathering dust. Use anything and everything you've got". How lovely is that? Sustainable beauty regimes themselves need not be militant, as THAT in itself is unsustainable in the long term. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Really great list! A lot of these tips corroborate what I found when doing my own research too. Beauty is such a tricky issue since the cosmaceutical industry can say soooo much not-quite-true stuff (or down right lies) since they’re not as regulated as medical products so we really do have to do our own research and not take beauty companies at their word (whether they are “natural” or not).
I am almost 17 years old and I just want to say that I love your channel. You have taught me a lot. I have started to do research about products and companies which I have found is really fun!

My favorite oil for my skin is maracuja oil 🧡 I have oily and acne prone skin and this one really helps not create more breakouts and it helps with the scarring that comes with acne. Love the video, I think this is going to help so many people! I’ve been into green beauty for about a year now and I would have been so grateful for a video like this back then, but still grateful for it now 😍
Beautiful video! x On my skin I use a bar of soap, olive oil (to moisturize but also enhance my lashes as mascara), home-made deo, a saftey razor as well as a sugar scrub and sun cream when needed. I wash my hair with a bar of shampoo followed by an ACV rinse and brush my teeth with a bamboo toothbrush and dental tablets. In addition to that, whole plant based Foods, water, sleep and movement. Makes me feel like my best self :)
I've had really good experiences with products that contain essential oil blends. Maybe it has to do with the ratios and how much it's diluted in the entire mixture? They've worked wonders for me!
Hey 😊! In the video Immy recommends in the description (the fragrance in the skincare: the truth), a girl calls Natalia Sikorska posted a detailed comment on why, in her opinion (which I share) the part that is not safe to use essential oils in cosmetics, it is not entirely like that. I highly recommend you to read it! We should treat essential oils with the reverence they deserve and understand that they are extremely potent botanical extracts, but that doesn’t mean that with due caution, we cannot take advantage of its wonders. I hope you have a great day!
@@larabasterrech9111 I've read that comment and totally agreed with it. Certain essential oils are great for your skin, in small amounts. I feel like a lot of people are not educated enough about eo's and then end up hating them because they've used them in a wrong way. Also the USA's lack of regulation doesn't help either.
I have recently started watching your videos and wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration. I am someone who is interested in living low waste and sustainable but didn't know where to start. Your videos have taught me so much about how to start my sustainable journey and I like your approach of changing what you can and not feeling guilty for slipping up sometimes, which can happen to us all. The world is focussed on materialism and I sometimes I catch myself wanting to buy unnecessary items just for the sake of it. Your videos have made me more mindful of this and have taught me ways to re-use things I already have. Thank you for informing others and being such an inspiration for people like myself xx
At 32 I’ve begun to think more about early anti aging. I’m loving the Holland and Barrett own brand vitamin c and hydralonic acid serum under my moisturiser and night cream
This is wonderful and I love this series! I wonder if you might be able to give us some sustainability gardening tips sometime? I'm getting very into that right now as I finally have some space! My MIL wants to buy new pots for everything and those lil seeding kits and my heart is crying haha. I told her about egg cartons since her family eats a TON of eggs so hopefully she'll want to try that next year and they have plenty leftover for me! And buying second hand pots if you actually need a pot is great, but what else?? :) You seem like you've been doing a lot of gardening lately and I'd love to hear more about it :) xo
I am very happy with this video!! these are actual good tips and different from the standard -use coconut oil for everything even though it's comedogenic- super happy to see how you combine actual beauty and skincare with sustainability

I havent watched your videos (or any simillar) for a while because I was living at home and had done mostly everything I could. Now that Im going to college in the fall I hope to take the next step.
You put so much time and attention into your videos, thank you so much, I learnt A LOT 🙂 Keep making content like this because it’s so informative. I use an epilator to get rid of my leg hair. I’ve had mine for about 6 years now and it still works great. Also I only need to use it every 3-4 weeks so it saves me a good amount of time.
Can I just say, I know I’m 8 months late so no one’s probably going to see this, but SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONING BARS ARE SOOOOO MUCH BETTER FIR YOUR HAIR! I’ve been using them now for around a year and my hair is so much healthier. This is just one thing which could really help the environment and your helping yourself too!
I noticed that you mentioned The Body Shop's range of aloe products. I've been concerned about the ethics of the brand since I discovered that they have an MLM component--The Body Shop at Home, and haven't purchased from them for several years because of this. Do you still recommend them?
Oh I love you! ❤️ And yes, someone already said it - do a collaboration with Hyram if he accepts! I'd love you two together and not only would it probably bring more viewers to your channel - they'd probably become more prone to switching from their makeup wipes to reusable cotton pads and other easy zero waste switches. It could seriously only be good. 😂 And don't think you're not worthy, he cares about sustainability and you're a bigger expert on the topic and about how to live it. 🤷🏻♀️ Such a collab would spread the word about essential oils AND reusable wipes so far, so you'd save the world in so many ways. 😂🐰 He'll probably love the opportunity to spread the word about essential oils to the more "natural" community, which zero wasters usually are. 🤷🏻♀️
Can you make a video about cleaning?? All rooms all kind of cleaning from plates to clothes, floor and many more? I really curious about that and I plan to be more sustainable :)
I feel so intimidated by all the beauty stuff for zero waste but this is the thing I'm trying to tackle right now! Thanks for all the recipes and ideas!
You can do it! Just pick one thing, start tiny, plant the seed and watch it grow. You don't have to do it all at once, in fact its BETTER to start small! xx
im a curly girl and i used the leave in conditioner from Love of Earth co and aloe gel on my curls to hold the bounce. my shampoo and conditioner is from Happy willow soap co i found them at a local health food store. my curls have NEVER been happier. i hated the wax build up from plastic packaged products.
Very inspiring! I have an epilator it's not the most sustainable but it also shaves, trims and I've had it for over 5 years and it still works perfectly fine. I used to make my own oil blend I need to do that again I loved it on my skin.
Funky soap in the UK is amazing for refillable hair products. I have curly hair and I love their products! They come in a refillable aluminium bottle which you can send back and they’ll refill for you at a discounted price!
I’m so glad you mentioned stone nail files! They leave the nail edges so smooth, and last for many years. Thanks for these - I had no idea about some of them. I recommend Yaoh coco bean moisturiser for those with low incomes and sensitive skins - vegan, in a glass jar with a metal lid, and gorgeous ingredients that smell wonderful. Thanks for this video, Immy.
I just tried a black tea rinse, it helps fight skin inflammation, maybe just as an add-on :) I also love exfoliating with coffee (I dont drink it, but I sneak the grounds from my boyfriend) or oats!
Honestly adore this type of videos- thank you so much for putting it out there! It's super appreciated. I just had one little question. I was wondering how come retinol was included in this list because I noticed it's rated as a 6-9 (out of 10) carcinogen by EWG Skin Deep (they're a non profit database)? It's in a few products I really like the look of, but I never wanted to buy them because of the concerns regarding retinol. Would love to see what you found about it. Thank you! :)
What a great tips! Wonderful! Can I add that using coffee grounds as an exfoliator isn't the best idea? It's much too coarse for the skin, especially for the face.
I dont think you mentioned this. When I was in Japan, I discovered ear picks. Instead of using ear swabs, they use sticks that curve at the end to remove ear wax. I bought one and it actually is no big deal once you get used to the motion. I believe it's safer than ear swabs and it's zero waste. You scoop out the wax and wipe it on a cloth, then wash the cloth. So it's ridiculously easy to clean.

The No-Makeup days really made a big difference! I am 25 and have better Skin now than 5 years ago. Plus, it Boosts my confidence so much more to go bare faced and i feel all glamed up with just Eyeliner and Mascara :D
In my own experience, the best nailfile is a glass one. It lasts forever, can be easily cleaned (just run it under water and leave it to dry off and voila! all of that nail dust is gone) and works even better than a stainless steel one, at least for my nails. Despite being made from glass, I haven't heard of it breaking yet - I haven't broken mine and neither have my friends, who I influenced to buy one.
Another good idea to replace deodorant is to regularly wash your underarms with a benzoyl peroxide cleanser. I was initially just doing this to help with an inflammatory skin condition (dermatologist recommended), but I was able to stop using deodorant altogether (when it’s not too hot & I’m not gonna exercise). I find this useful because many natural deodorants rely on irritants (essential oils, fragrance, etc.) for the smell.
Hi great video, I live in wales uk and Faith in nature is soo expensive, I've been making my own shampoo / body wash for years, using castille soap and vegetable glycerin. Only wash hair once a week.

Your tips are amazing! I wash my curly hair every 3 days (that still is a progress) but I'm som impressed that you achieved doing it every two weeks. I'm curious if you "make them wet" (don't know how to call it) when you're having a normal shower or not. Thank you so much for your content ❤️
omg yes absolutely! If I didn't refresh my curls they would look awffuuulll. But during lockdown as I'm literally not seeing anyone ever I just put my hair in two braids and leave them like that until I wash my hair next except for when I film then I rinse my hair. Usually though I will spray my hair with water or water and a tiny bit of leave in conditioner bar onto my hair to restyle.
Thank you for such a great video. I have switched to all natural products myself a couple years ago due to having allergic reactions to a lot of the chemicals that they put in over processed products like you said a lot of the products can be very expensive but in the long run they do last a lot longer in my opinion.
I recently found a small swedish company that makes mineral makeup that is ethical and vegan with glass packaging and refills! Perfect timing as well because my foundation and powder had run out. They even have sample kits, you get a little of every product so you can test it before purchasing a full sized. It's a wonderful time we are living in☀️
Ah that's so great! I too have been trying some samples from a make up company and its great to try before you buy a bigger thing! Thanks so much for sharing
I also use flaxseed gel on my face! I wipe it off with a damp cloth after its fully dried. Not sure if its reccomended but works for me! Love how cheap and easy it is to make :)

I love Cruelty Free Kitty to check up on whether brands are cruelty free. It costs money to get Leaping Bunny certification so though it's a quick way to check it might restrict you unneccessarily.
YAAAAS you’re a Hyram fan!!! ❤️❤️
And it’s awesome to see a balanced routine!
I use Superdrug products. All of Superdrug's own brand products are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and are not tested on animals
The world’s citizens sure appreciate energetic and forward thinking teens like you. You are an awesome addition to the planet!
Another comprehensive, detailed video. Thanks, Immy. As a curly girl myself, I’m always trying to find more sustainable ways to care for them.
Brush your teeth daily and shower frequently and you’re good to go. Hope it’s getting warmer in the wilderness 🤞 xxx
@@lindatait5326 Preach it sistah! Yes, we hope to put in most of the garden this weekend. It is a Long Weekend here in 🇨🇦, Victoria Day. Monday is the stat. holiday. The Queen’s birthday has always been the official kickoff to summer for us Canucks, but this year we’ve all been told to stay home. This is easy for me to do... I could camp on my property if I wanted to...LOL!!
I've been looking for people who have actually used it. Glad it's worked for you, I'll give it a go now :)
Love this 🙂 don’t think I have actually brought products in years due to using mine all up and getting brought for Christmas presents.
Thanks for sharing Nicole! Yezzzz completely agree with all of this!!
I am almost 17 years old and I just want to say that I love your channel. You have taught me a lot. I have started to do research about products and companies which I have found is really fun!
Hi Sydney... I’m a high school teacher in Canada 🇨🇦 and am surrounded by teens all day long (except for during this Lockdown). Kudos to you for doing research and taking an such an interest in your health and the planet. Keep that energy going my friend!!
ok can I just say that I absolutely adore your curls?🥰As someone who has waves, sometimes I just wanna have your voluminous curls, not my flat waves Imao!🥴😘
Ah thank you so much! I'm sure your hair is beautiful ❤️
Sustainably Vegan 😘😘Feels good to hear that
I live in the USA and I mostly watch your awesome videos because I’m really interested in sustainability, but does anyone else watch this wonderful woman’s videos partly just to hear that gorgeous accent? I do! Thank you for everything!
This was absolutely incredible!!! Thank you for creating an amazing video, Immy! I feel like I will watch theses 100 series videos over and over again when I want to feel calm, encouraged, and motivated. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into creating them ☺️❤️
I feel like each time I re-watch one of these 100 series videos I pick up bits of new info/tips that I missed in the previous viewing. It’s continuous learning at its finest! Have a great evening and a super relaxing upcoming weekend.
My favorite oil for my skin is maracuja oil 🧡 I have oily and acne prone skin and this one really helps not create more breakouts and it helps with the scarring that comes with acne. Love the video, I think this is going to help so many people! I’ve been into green beauty for about a year now and I would have been so grateful for a video like this back then, but still grateful for it now 😍
Beautiful video! x
On my skin I use a bar of soap, olive oil (to moisturize but also enhance my lashes as mascara), home-made deo, a saftey razor as well as a sugar scrub and sun cream when needed.
@@larabasterrech9111 Thanks so much for your comment! I will check into it :).
My hair is pin straight so every video of yours gives me proper curl envy, they are so beautifull!
I love these videos so so much! I can’t imagine the time and effort required for making these🤗🤗🤗
Me too... don’t ya just love Thursdays? It’s like knowledge, inspiration, and feel good vibes all tied up into one nifty little package that I’m sure takes a tonne of time and effort to make. Clicking “Like” and commenting hardly seems enough.
Mee too sisters♥️
i love the “100” series!! you rock!
And yes, someone already said it - do a collaboration with Hyram if he accepts!
I'd love you two together and not only would it probably bring more viewers to your channel - they'd probably become more prone to switching from their makeup wipes to reusable cotton pads and other easy zero waste switches.
It could seriously only be good. 😂
And don't think you're not worthy, he cares about sustainability and you're a bigger expert on the topic and about how to live it. 🤷🏻♀️
Such a collab would spread the word about essential oils AND reusable wipes so far, so you'd save the world in so many ways. 😂🐰
He'll probably love the opportunity to spread the word about essential oils to the more "natural" community, which zero wasters usually are. 🤷🏻♀️
By beauty
Can you make a video about cleaning?? All rooms all kind of cleaning from plates to clothes, floor and many more? I really curious about that and I plan to be more sustainable :)
I feel so intimidated by all the beauty stuff for zero waste but this is the thing I'm trying to tackle right now! Thanks for all the recipes and ideas!
You can do it! Just pick one thing, start tiny, plant the seed and watch it grow. You don't have to do it all at once, in fact its BETTER to start small! xx
@@SustainablyVegan Thanks!! That's definitely true, I think I just tend to look at the whole picture at once which can feel like a lot.
im a curly girl and i used the leave in conditioner from Love of Earth co and aloe gel on my curls to hold the bounce. my shampoo and conditioner is from Happy willow soap co i found them at a local health food store. my curls have NEVER been happier. i hated the wax build up from plastic packaged products.
Thank you so much for the tips!!
Would love a list of all the beauty oils and skincare products you use.
Immy your hair is looking better than ever, those are some gorgeous curls! 😍
I LOVE youth to the people!!! It’s ethical and has worked really well for me
Love your channel a lot....you're making a huge difference to save our planet. ..thank you ❤
Plz making such videos! It’s actually very practical and good! Thank you!
I just tried a black tea rinse, it helps fight skin inflammation, maybe just as an add-on :)
I also love exfoliating with coffee (I dont drink it, but I sneak the grounds from my boyfriend) or oats!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE the overalls, the color and especially the tied off bits instead of buttons. Fabulous!
Epic video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Greetings from the Dominican Republic!
I absolutely love this new serie of you! If is so informative and calming to watch for some reason.

I appreciate your knowledge so much, you have no idea. I want to thank you so unbelievably much for helping me figure out how to cause the least amount of harm to
this planet.
Always love your videos. The right ones always come at the right time. Thank you for sharing! 🫶🏾
The No-Makeup days really made a big difference! I am 25 and have better Skin now than 5 years ago. Plus, it Boosts my confidence so much more to go bare faced and i feel all glamed up with just Eyeliner and Mascara :D
those videos are so inspiring 🥰 please continue to do them!!
Hey Immy! Thank you so much for this wonderful video ❤️!
About the essential oils, in the video of Hiram, a girl calls Natalia Sikorska posted a detailed comment on why, in her opinion (which I share) the part that is not safe to use essential oils in cosmetics, it is not entirely like that. I highly recommend you to read it!
Personally I believe we should treat essential oils with the reverence they deserve and understand that they are extremely potent botanical extracts, but that doesn’t mean that with due caution, we cannot take advantage of its wonders.
I hope you have a great day 😘!
Thanks will take a look!
@@SustainablyVegan Thank you. I will try to do so
Thank you for such a great video.
What's the company called??
what’s the company called?
I also use flaxseed gel on my face! I wipe it off with a damp cloth after its fully dried. Not sure if its reccomended but works for me! Love how cheap and easy it is to make :)
Love this series! So much info in 1 video😍 thank you for your great work❤️
This is such a well done video, Immy!
Thank you xx
I LOVE your 100 series! Thanks so much.
Hi, just recently started watching your videos, love it! 😍 Could you please make a video showing us your oil collection?
DRY BRUSHING IS AMAZING
YEZZZ!! honestly it's one of my favourites xx
What is does?
I love how you give other options for sensitive skin💓
You put so so so much information into your videos. Thank you so much for ur dedication
I really like to re watch this video every now & then, to keep reminding me of good ideas, ✨✨
I'm so glad!
I genuinely appreciate the amount of effort that went into this video
2 plus tips. Compost your hair of your brush and when i have a haircut i donate my hair (i take care to have them long) in order to be made wigs for women with cancer
