May seem like a shameless plug but I have nothing to gain from this video and lots to show you as a fellow tropical fish lover.... always great service, fantastic tanks and always a great range of livestock....everything from tiny tetras to massive 3ft long monster fish!
If you do get to visit this fantastic shop, speak with the manager Steve for personal service (you'll see him stroking the huge giraffe catfish in this vid) he has a natural way with fish, impeccable knowledge of everything from tropical, marine all the way to reptiles and is usually there on the weekends doing what he does best :)

I got my zebra tilapia for 5 dollars in a hood ass fish store on a roadtrip and grew him up . They asking 40 for theirs. I feel accomplished

@DonovanEverton that huge catfish an "Oxydoras Niger" ( also called "Mother of Snails" or "Ripsaw Catfish"), they grow about 3ft long and have sharp spines on their sides but are pretty peaceful as you can see

What great looking healthy fish. I wish American pet shop had healthy fish like these. For some reason the just toss them in a tank and what doesnt die they sale.... Its sad

I bought a Betta fish from this place, i wouldn't recommend getting them here as soon as i put it into the tank i notice it had white spot on its tale and died over night, also they keep the bettas in poor conditions. although the range of tanks here are good i got my 112 liter (30 gallon) tank from the place that included the filter and heater for a £120.
Was wondering if petting a fish removes it's slime coat at all? Catfish might be a little bit different since they've got a bit of armor on the outside, but I used to hand-feed my goldfish and pet him occasionally when he swam into my hand, and I always wondered whether I was doing any harm.

@ThePatsfish101 my fire eel wouldnt eat too, when it was dying of starvation i force fed it with a eye dropper, it recovered and started to eat again

@k6439 To be honest, I think thats probably the idea... its a great friendly and tame fish that they probably want to keep in there... if its sells then bonus ;)
@ThePatsfish101 i still have my fish, some of them have passed on (jumped out the tank) but yeah, still going strong :) Fire-eel was one of the jumpers unfortunately, he was huge at the end, ate loads of earthworms mainly... i think months of starvation he just cracked and ate a worm and was a greedy pig since that day
@x0XMichaelX0x I use Fluval FX5 filters in my home tank... got 2 of them which is overkill but very effective :)

Anyone know if this place is still going and stocking these types of fish ? not many large scale fish stores around the south coast of wouldnt mind the drive for somewhere worth the effort

It's a Platynematichthys notatus (also called "Lince Catfish").
It's an amaizing beautiful fish, but not easy to keep and quite expensive.

Lince catfish... its a fresh water fish that needs a huge tank. That particular one was sold for £500 so they are quite pricy too.
