Monmouth Quay to Sharpness via Portishead

  • After a journey down the River Severn from Sharpness on a 10 metre Spring Tide with wind speeds over 15mph between the two bridges, to arrive in Portishead and then, with an even larger Spring-Tide, we crossed the River Severn to enter the River Wye. We then navigated to Llandogo and still with 2 meters of flood, on to Monmouth.
Leaving Monmouth on 2 metres of flood and coming through Monmouth Bridge was the nearest thing I've done to 'skiing' on the water! We then covered the next 15 miles in just over an hour - Not your usual serene narrowboat journey and not to be recommended for the faint-hearted.

I'm loving these videos and cruises. Now, before you knew the angles of approach what was the worst moment or mistake made? Was there one? Unique insights - well done. Mark
