very good cover imo, he took the original, wrapped a genuine the tallest man in earth style around it and made a worthy cover which doesnt desecrate the original
This album of his is called "The Daytrotter Sessions". Dunno if anyone else has mentioned it. It only really has three songs, and the fourth song is just him speaking in his normal voice. I recommend getting ALLLLLLL of his songs, though--he's just an amazing man.
It's quite difficult as a musician to cover a song as proclaimed as this one. Difficult to change it, but not too much. And very tough to get the audience to hear that and still feel it in a new way. Well done
i look at this comment and it really amazes me how much exposure hes gotten in a short 3 years. I know he had been playing small time at bars and such before his more recent albums but the speed at which hes progressed as a performer and musician astounds me. He well deserves it though. Best folk artist of all time.
I’ve been a fan of Mr TMOE since the first second I heard shallow grave. I’ve seen him three times. I prefer his earlier stuff, and although I Love Dylan. I would argue this version is so much more heartfelt. I discovered this cover just after falling in love with a woman who made me ache just by looking at her. 10 years later. This song still takes me back to the EXACT moment I was in pain. I can even remember the street name where I was when it hit me. This....for me... is the most poignant moment i have ever experienced.
I'm throwing this out there...... Better. Than. Dylan. I've only ever said this once before. And I think we all thought the same when we heard jimmi Hendrix all along the watchtower. This is my favourite cover ever.
This is from a session he did with Daytrotter. its really good. if you go to their website you can download the whole session for free. Its all good stuff. for sure.
Daytrotter is a music website that hosts live sessions of bands and artists. Usually a 4 or 5 song set and you are able to download the songs (by song or by session) for free. Their back catalog is extensive and you are bound to find some other great bands/songs when you are there if you like TTMOE (I suggest Two Gallants and Blitzen Trapper)
Comments made me go watch the Bob Dylan Version of this song, And I'd say TMOE Has Waay more emotion and better Vocals In my honest opinion, And It's an opinion, Im NOT trolling.
@TheThirdPrestigiator im sorry but you really cant put the 2 together. and the fact that you say that he sang them without emotion... apparently you never listened to the early stuff... like when he was 19-25 listen to his self titled album. or Nashville skyline and tell me that its not sung with emotion.
@JollyGreenGordon No, Dylan definetly expresses the song with much more feeling and emotion, I really expected a lot more for a cover of this song by Tallest Man
@TheThirdPrestigiator Are you out of your mind? This isn't bad but it doesn't even come close to the original. Bob's singing on this song is dripping with emotion, his arrangement is far more richer and ambitious. Bob's emotional resonance shines through not just in any one elements of the music (lyrics, singing, music) but in the combination of all of these things working together perfectly. Granted Bob did put out alot of crap later on (as many forget) but the original of this song is perfect!
Personally not to keen on this, but let's make a point, what sad gits argue? Like seriously, everyone is allowed an opinion. Those who argue need to get a life
+Nicholas Carlson They say there are no such things as wrong opinions, but we can thank TheFloridaPappy for proving them wrong! Matsson's covers are uniformly astonishing.
This song makes me really sad and nostalgic.

How Do You Argue with someones OPINION? You don't. That's how.

no...
He should stay away from covering songs. Just my opinion.
His cover of graceland is beautiful
TheFloridaPappy Just your opinion is right...
Nicholas Carlson Yes, pretty unambiguous. I stated "Just my opinion." Thanks for your confirmation.
+Nicholas Carlson They say there are no such things as wrong opinions, but we can thank TheFloridaPappy for proving them wrong! Matsson's covers are uniformly astonishing.
+randomartist01 Apparently except for this one. Guess I'll have to be blatant, this sucks.
