Hey Marley! I have to say, I have used this exact beautiful yarn for several projects. But these slip stitches nearly drove me to drink. I must have started over ten times and forget ripping out s mistake as this yarn just knots up. I even tried a new skein twice. In my frustration, I used another brand of yarn and a slightly bigger hook and it's working great! I'm no beginner so if anyone else has trouble with this beautiful yarn, save it for later projects. I'm so disappointed that I couldn't get this yarn to work on this pattern. But my other hat is beautiful with this pattern. Thank you!!

Here from 2020. I made a hat! My first project after 30 years of not touching needle or yarn. It's not that pretty but that's OK (thicker yarn and not that soft). Instructions were pretty easy to follow. Thank you!
Hi Marly! I want to tell you how much this video helped me! I was looking at this yarn at a store this evening and this hat pattern was hanging near it so I decided to buy a skein of the Prairie/Prado yarn and make the hat for my niece. I was a little confused by the band stitches as I thought it was a misprint because other hats I've made with a band were always single crocheted, so I wanted to check the pattern online and it was there that I found this video and am so glad I did. I got the hat made and it turned out very nice! I ended up doing 12 rounds of the V-stitch also because there wasn't enough yarn in the 3.5 oz. skein to crochet 14 rounds. I can't wait to make another one! Thank you, Marly!

I only made it to row 11 on the first hat and row 10 on the second, although I used a 5.5mm on the second. there has got to be a secret that I'm missing about the 800 slipstiches. My beta hat turned out great and I'm ready to start making some for others but please give me a hint about all those slip stiches! I even bought the correct size hook, it's not helping. Can't wait to get in to some great yarns but won't until I master those slipstiches. LOVE all the rest of the pattern! Hi, I have a couple of questions for you about this pattern...My friend wants a slouchy hat that is very long (to the middle of her back), and she wants it in black. To make this extra long I would just continue the instructions for the body of the hat until it is long enough, right? Also will this hat pattern still look good in a regular yarn type - like Red Heart's Love yarn or Caron's Simply Soft yarn? Just curious cause that is what type of yarn I have to work with. It will have a completely different look but the weight of the Unforgettable Waves is the same as Caron Cakes. You will need to do a gauge swatch to make sure the stitch counts will work for you.
