My OBGYN of 32 years about had a stroke when I told her I was doing testosterone pellets. I am a breast cancer survivor of 6 years and considered all the risks. I didn't fight through surgery, radiation and chemo to be done in by menopause. My life has been pure hell since chemo slammed me into menopause and i have begged and pleaded with several doctors to help me. None would, so i took it upon myself to find someone through a compounding pharmacy. For the first time in years, i am feeling more like myself and not someone who is just existing. Thank God for pellets and for those doctors who are willing to actually help their patients❤

Same. I have multiple sclerosis and was doing fabulous on HRT. my multiple sclerosis was completely stable because it’s known that hormones protect those of us that have MS which is why pregnant mothers who have MS too great. I’ve had an incredible amount of progression since I went off of hormones and couldn’t get anyone to help me until I found by accident a Doctor Who was willing to put me on testosterone pellets and progesterone. I’m also on supplements that aid the estrogen that is in my body. my cancer was DCIS so I only had surgery no chemotherapy or no radiation. It’s so unfair and makes me so mad that they just strip the hormones out of our body just because we get breast cancer.

The testosterone pellets are VERY expensive. I am an RN and did a ridiculous amount of research after I accepted the aggressive persuasion from my APRN aesthetician. The Estrogen/ testosterone pellet caused an atrial arrhythmia which progressed to a heart block and acute hypotension. Who knew we have estrogen receptors in cardiac tissue? This began during the first pellet implant and tapered off by the end of the third month. The symptomatic arrhythmia repeated after the second pellet implant and continued for 4+ months after the second implant. I am now using an estradiol patch, oral progesterone and compounded testosterone cream. No arrhythmia.

I have been using the Sottepelle pellet for 2+ years and take Progesterone orally at night. It has been a LIFE GAME CHANGER. I have had 0 issues. I train at the gym 3 hours, 5 days a week. I get my blood drawn as well. I went from insomnia for a number of years to sleeping 9 to 10 hours a night, my skin looks better, my energy is better, I don’t hurt all the time (I’m just appropriately sore from weight training) and my recovery is much better. I am 67 and most people guess my age around early 50s. Prior to getting the pellet my skin was creping at light speed. My estrogen level was zero. Everyone needs to be evaluated as a candidate, but I would encourage people to research, ask questions and not let fear dictate your decision. Unfortunately, I found the medical community to be all over the map. Many providers are stuck on the British million woman study from 20+ years ago. There has been much more research since that time. My quality of life has improved significantly, and I tell people they will have to claw these things out of my dead fingers (or hip as it may be)!

I’ve been on pellets for 6 years. I’ve recently switched to estrogen, testosterone in a cream compounded base. I did this because 8 months ago I started lifting heavy weights. With pellets you can’t do lower body workouts for 7 days. I don’t like the creams. I feel awful. It is much more cost effective but I’d rather pay extra and go back to pellets. There are 3 other menopause docs I follow on social media that really go in hard on docs who prescribe pellets. They all say these docs are pushing pellets because they are able to make so much more money and it’s at the patient’s expense. I just know how I felt and it’s been 4 months since I’ve started the creams. I definitely going back to pellets and that is my choice. Nice, classy response❤

I wonder why you’d feel any different given as the doc said it’s the same thing just different delivery. I went to patch from sublingual estrone and my doc said there’s no way to get testosterone now I’ll have to go back and ask about the cream. It’s discouraging how much I learn from teachers like Dr. Susan and then have to take to uninformed doctors. Seems so many in all fields are still practicing from what they learned in med school 30 years ago. Why can’t you lift weights for awhile with pellets?

    • @jeanettebennett1527
      @jeanettebennett1527 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@ with the cream based Estradiol and Testosterone I feel there is a problem with absorption. With the pellets it goes straight to the bloodstream. As far as lifting weights I was told the incision had to close and you don’t want to dislodge them doing repetitive movements. They put steri strips and a bandage on. No immersion in water for 7 days. You don’t want to risk infection. Showering is fine.

@jeanettebennett1527 hi, it's been a month since my 1st testosterone pellet, and I also started partly due to my Powerlifting lifestyle. I'd felt like I was spinning my wheels for a year and losing muscle. Finally starting to make some gains again, but it's only been a month. I was told to wait 3 days before resuming lower body exercises. I do have a small, dime-sized lump near the insertion site. It's not swollen or bruised any longer, but I wondered if this is normal or if the pellet had shifted, especially since I started squatting heavily on Day 4. Did you notice a hard lump still present a month post insertion?

I loved my experience on pellets for the most part. However - after watching you and learning what an appropriate starting dose would be - I asked my practitioner to provide the level you suggested in another video. I asked for lower dosing of the pellets because I was suffering with dark, coarse hair growth on my face - and not just a hair to two. My level when tested 6 weeks in was over 500! When my practitioner who performed the procedure twice for me would not allow me to go on a lower dose - I left. I do want an appropriate, physiological doses - and not a high dose because my practitioner felt I would be disappointed with less. Wish you were here in NY.

I agree that any form can be overdosed. I am on compound testosterone & my provider started me at 10mg per day vaginal application as my labs showed I had zero testosterone (young surgical menopause). After only 3 months my blood labs went higher than a 18 year old males! Now I’m doing cream still but 5mg every day & applied to my thigh instead. After another 3 months my last labs showed a smidge above a normal female range so I’m trying to decide if I should go down to 3mg. But I do wish someone in Utube would discuss where we should apply T cream & what we should be at for safe/healthy blood lab ranges as no one will discuss that.

I use a testim gel, bioidentical that is a dosage designed for men but prescribed at a dose appropriate for myself. I squeeze 1/10th of the gel from the tube onto my skin every day and believe me, I do a very good job of having the right amount left on day 10 of that tube. For men they squeeze that whole tube on their skin daily. I keep a fine sharpie in the cabinet with the tube and do a tally on the tube itself. Works for me. Canadian.

Thank you! Dr. Susan. Yes I agree! 4 years ago I was getting pellets. I was feeling good about my decision. Getting the right amount of estrogen and testosterone. Than my doctor moved out of state, and she was replaced. Didn’t really communicate well with the new doc. She gave me to much of both! Which eventually lead to bleeding. Constantly going in for blood work. So expensive! I had several test done.. then had a D&C. Everything turned out fine. I am now on a low dose of estradiol and testosterone cream. I don’t think I will go back a lot of it also was the expense! And the scare I had. Thank you again! For another great video!😊

I have been on estradiol and testosterone pellets for 4 years now. I have had no issues with them and they’ve been a life changer!
The issue I’m having is that my body is metabolizing them way too fast. My provider will only do pellets every 3-4 months based on bloodwork results. My bloodwork results may show my at level as too high, but my symptoms tell another story. So I’m in a pickle until my next insertion appointment.
Wish docs would decide if symptoms decide the dosage or bloodwork.

If my e isn’t high enough on the patch, I’ll go back to e pellet. If I go back on T pellet, I’d consider every 10 weeks. The providers I have don’t “push” pellets. We discuss options. I've seen discussions among women online who are successfully using injected testosterone at 1/10 the dose given to men (by this, I mean shots designed to be given either weekly, or multi-monthly, that are being "hacked" to supposedly give a stable dose that is suitable for women).
Can you speak to the safety of that? Have you explored the idea using injectable, long-duration testosterone (at doses appropriate for women) in your practice?

I initially loved my E + T pellets. I’m very pro HRT. Went on them in August of 2021. Problem for me was my levels were always too high whenever l tested. She brought my levels down twice because my T was as high as 350 but this most recent time I decided to get bloodwork instead of pelleted after the usual 15 weeks. So I should have been at my very lowest levels. My E was 464 and my T was 111. I looked back two months and I was having nausea, headaches and breast tenderness. No wonder!! I’m 56 so I don’t want my hormones to be off the charts like this. My doctor is totally unbothered and dismissive about these levels. I wish you could talk to my doctor about lowering doses because mine isn’t getting the message. I’m looking into patches now and T with an online provider.

Hi. I'm not a doctor, but I wanted to let you know that I lost an alarming amount of hair when I was anemic at approximately your daughter's age. Your daughter's hair loss could absolutely be hormonal, but if she hasn't discussed the issue with a doctor, please encourage her to be evaluated for the many other causes of hair loss -- some of them (like anemia) can co-occur at midlife. If she's got more than one cause, only addressing the hormones may not totally resolve her symptoms. Sorry for responding when I'm not a doctor, I just really feel for your daughter -- hair loss is devastating. Maybe my experience can help someone else. Hope she's better soon.
